---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. Work the entire pattern in stocking stitch. INCREASE TIP (evenly): To calculate how to increase evenly, use the total number of stitches on row (e.g. 84 stitches) and divide stitches by number of increases to be done (e.g. 12) = 7. In this example increase by making 1 yarn over after every 7th stitch. On next round work yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker thread and knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread is in the middle of these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed. Work neck edge and yoke in the round on circular needle from right shoulder back, and work top down. When yoke is done, divide piece for body and sleeves. Work body down wards in the round on circular needle while putting the sleeves aside. Then work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. Fold the neck edge double against the wrong side and fasten. NECK EDGE: Cast on 84-88-92-96-100-104 stitches on circular needle size 5.5 mm with DROPS Lima in colour wheat and DROPS Kid-Silk in colour marzipan or DROPS Daisy in colour marzipan and DROPS Kid-Silk in colour marzipan. Switch to circular needle size 4 mm (cast on on a larger needle to get an elastic cast-on edge). Knit 1 round. Work rib (= knit 2/purl 2) until neck edge measures 11 cm. The neck edge is later folded double and assembled so that the neck edge is approx. 5 cm. Insert 1 marker after the first 28-29-31-32-33-35 stitches on round (= approx. mid front), measures piece from this marker. YOKE: Switch to circular needle size 5.5 mm, work 1 round in stocking stitch while increasing 12-12-14-14-16-16 stitches evenly - read INCREASE TIP = 96-100-106-110-116-120 stitches. Then work in stocking stitch. Remember to follow the knitting tension! When yoke measures 3-3-4-4-5-5 cm from marker, increase 20-20-26-26-28-32 stitches evenly – remember INCREASE TIP = 116-120-132-136-144-152 stitches. Continue in stocking stitch until piece measures 5-6-7-8-10-11 cm from marker. Now work PATTERN – read explanation above, i.e. work A.1 in the round on yoke AT THE SAME TIME increase 32-36-40-40-44-48 stitches evenly on 1st round = 148-156-172-176-188-200 stitches (there is room for 37-39-43-44-47-50 repetitions of A.1 after this increase). Continue the pattern - AT THE SAME TIME on every round marked with arrow in A.1 increase stitches evenly as explained below - remember INCREASE TIP: Arrow-1: Increase 32-32-36-40-44-48 stitches evenly = 180-188-208-216-232-248 stitches. Arrow-2: Increase 30-34-38-42-44-52 stitches evenly = 210-222-246-258-276-300 stitches. Arrow-3: Increase 22-26-26-30-36-32 stitches evenly = 232-248-272-288-312-332 stitches. When A.1 has been worked, piece measures approx. 22-23-24-25-27-28 cm. Now divide piece for body and sleeves. DIVIDING FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: AT THE SAME TIME as next round is worked divide yoke for body and sleeves as follows: Slip the first 44-46-52-56-58-62 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 9-9-9-14-13-16 new stitches on needle (= in the side mid under sleeve), work A.2 over the next 72-78-84-88-98-104 stitches (= front piece), slip the next 44-46-52-56-58-62 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 9-9-9-14-13-16 new stitches on needle (= in the side mid under sleeve), and work A.2 over the last 72-78-84-88-98-104 stitches (= back piece). Work body and sleeves separately. Fasten off. BODY: = 162-174-186-204-222-240 stitches. Insert 1 marker in one side of piece (= in the middle of the 9-9-9-14-13-16 stitches that were cast on under sleeve). Begin round at the marker and work in the round, begin on second round in A.2. At the same time increase stitches evenly on rounds with arrow as follows: Arrow-4: Increase 8-6-4-6-8-10 stitches evenly = 170-180-190-210-230-250 stitches. Arrow-5: Increase 2-4-6-6-6-6 stitches evenly = 172-184-196-216-236-256 stitches. Arrow-6: Increase 4-8-4-8-4-8 stitches evenly = 176-192-200-224-240-264 stitches. When A.2 has been worked vertically, work in stocking stitch with DROPS Lima in colour wheat and DROPS Kid-Silk in colour marzipan or DROPS Daisy in colour marzipan and DROPS Kid-Silk in colour marzipan. Continue until piece measures 51-51-53-53-55-57 cm from marker mid front. Switch to circular needles size 4 mm, work rib (= knit 2/purl 2) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 20-16-20-24-24-24 evenly on 1st round = 196-208-220-248-264-288 stitches. When rib measures 6-6-6-7-7-7 cm cast off. Jumper measures 57-57-59-60-62-64 cm from marker mid front and approx. 62-62-64-66-68-70 cm from the top of shoulder. SLEEVES: Slip 44-46-52-56-58-62 sleeve stitches from one thread on to circular needle size 5.5 mm and pick in addition up 1 stitch each of the 9-9-9-14-13-16 stitches cast on under sleeve = 53-55-61-70-71-78 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread approx. in the middle of the 9-9-9-14-13-16 new stitches under sleeve - round begins at marker thread, marker thread is inserted between 2 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread in the middle stitch mid on top of sleeve. Work A.2, but count out from the middle – stitches with arrow in A.2 should fit stitch with marker thread mid on top of sleeve - AT THE SAME TIME when sleeve measures 3-3-3-2-2-2 cm from division, decrease mid under sleeve – read DECREASE TIP and decrease as follows: Decrease 2 stitches every 8-8-5½-3½-3½-2½ cm 4-4-6-9-9-11 times in total = 45-47-49-52-53-56 stitches. When A.2 has been worked, continue to work with DROPS Lima in colour wheat and DROPS Kid-Silk in colour marzipan or DROPS Daisy in colour marzipan and DROPS Kid-Silk in colour marzipan. Work until sleeve measures 39-38-38-37-36-35 cm from division. Switch to double pointed needles size 4 mm and work rib (= knit 2/purl 2) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 7-5-7-8-7-8 stitches evenly on 1st round = 52-52-56-60-60-64 stitches. When rib measures 6-6-6-7-7-7 cm cast off. Sleeve measures approx. 45-44-44-44-43-42 cm from division. ASSEMBLY: Fold the neck edge at the top of neck down on the inside of garment. Fasten neck edge to get a double neck edge. To avoid a tight neck edge that sticks out it is important to keep the seam elastic. |
