Will someone update the pattern videos to include the missing video that demonstrates Knitting Tip-2 (applies to heel)? I did not understand how to apply the tip until I found the missing video, How to knit with 2 threads to get a stronger heel. Thanks.

Dear Kat, we are working constantly to make the patterns, and videos, lessons, tutorials to help our knitters, that are all available for free, so please understand if sometimes things are not happening all at once, like we make a video, and later update the listings. We are glad you have found the viseo, and that you found it helpful. Happy Knitting!

Can this pattern be toe up ? Would any changes to pattern.? Can fish lip heel be used also?
29.12.2019 - 04:11DROPS Design answered:
Dear Candy, you can knit this toe up, but take care at the leg, and do increases in plac of decreases and read the pattern upside down. As for the heel, you can also cahnge it, but make sure to end up with as many stitches as necessary to continue with the leg. Happy Knitting!

---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagram A.1. Work the entire pattern in stocking stitch. DECREASE TIP (evenly): To calculate how to decrease evenly, use the total number of stitches decreases are done over (e.g. 72 stitches) and divide stitches by number of decreases to be done (e.g. 6) = 12. In this example decrease by knitting every 11th and 12th stitch together. KNITTING TIP-1: To avoid the knitting tension to tighten when working pattern, it is important not to tighten the strands on back side of piece. Use half a larger needle size when working pattern if needed. KNITTING TIP-2 (applies to heel): To get a stronger heel the entire heel and heel decrease can be worked in 2 strands as follows: Use strand inside and outside of ball and work 1 stitch alternately with one and the other strand. This way you get a thicker heel without working with double strand. HEEL DECREASE: ROW 1 (= right side): Knit until 7-8-8 stitches remain, slip next stitch as if to knit, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch knitted, turn piece. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Purl until 7-8-8 stitches remain, slip next stitch as if to purl, purl 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch purled, turn piece. ROW 3 (= right side): Knit until 6-7-7 stitches remain, slip next stitch as if to knit, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch knitted, turn piece. ROW 4 (= wrong side): Purl until 6-7-7 stitches remain, slip next stitch as if to purl, purl 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch purled, turn piece. Continue decrease like this with 1 stitch less before each decrease until there are 14-14-16 stitches on needle. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- SOCKS - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Worked in the round on double pointed needles, top down. SOCK: Cast on 72-72-80 stitches on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm with denim blue. Knit 1 round. Then work rib in the round (= knit 2/purl 2) for 3 cm. Knit 1 round while decreasing 6-6-3 stitches evenly - read DECREASE TIP = 66-66-77 stitches. Read KNITTING TIP-1 and work A.1 in the round (= 6-6-7 repetitions of 11 stitches). REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! AT THE SAME TIME on round marked with arrow-1 in A.1 decrease 10-2-5 stitches evenly = 56-64-72 stitches (there is now room for 7-8-9 repetitions of 8 stitches). On round marked with arrow-2 decrease 2-4-6 stitches evenly = 54-60-66 stitches (there is now room for 9-10-11 repetitions of 6 stitches). On round with arrow-3 decrease 0-2-4 stitches evenly = 54-58-62 stitches. Work the rest of the sock in denim blue. Continue in the round with stocking stitch until piece measures 18-19-20 cm from cast-on edge. Keep the first 13-14-15 stitches on needle for heel, slip the next 28-30-32 stitches on 1 stitch holder (= mid on top of foot) and keep the last 13-14-15 stitches on needle for heel = 26-28-30 heel stitches on needle. Read KNITTING TIP-2 and work in stocking stitch back and forth over heel stitches for 5-5½-6 cm. Insert a marker in the middle of last row, marker should be used later to measure the length of foot. Work in HEEL DECREASE - read explanation above. After heel decrease work next round as follows: Knit over the 14-14-16 heel stitches, pick up 13-14-16 stitches along side of heel, knit the 28-30-32 stitches from stitch holder on top of foot and pick up 13-14-16 stitches along the other side of heel = 68-72-80 stitches on round. Insert 1 marker on each side of the 28-30-32 stitches mid on top of foot. Work in stocking stitch in the round and decrease on each side of the 28-30-32 stitches on top of foot as follows: Knit the last 2 stitches before first marker on top of foot together and knit the 2 stitches after last marker on top of foot twisted together. Decrease like this every other round 8-8-10 times in total = 52-56-60 stitches. Then continue until piece measures approx. 18-19-21 cm from marker on heel (approx. 4-5-6 cm remain until finished measurements, try the sock on and work to desired length). Insert 1 marker in each side of sock so that there are 26-28-30 stitches both on top of foot and under foot. Decrease for toes on each side of both markers as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker is in the middle of these 2 stitches), knit 2 twisted together. Repeat at the other marker (= 4 stitches decreased on round). Decrease like this in each side on every other round a total of 4-7-9 times and then on every round a total of 6-3-2 times = 12-16-16 stitches remain. On next round knit all stitches together 2 by 2 = 6-8-8 stitches remain. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten together and fasten. Work the other sock the same way. |
