The pattern says 50g for mittens but after finishing one of the mittens I see that 50g won't be enough. Otherwise, a simple but lovely pattern!

I don't knit with diagrams. Is each row represented in the diagram or do you do a 'purl' row in between? Do I start at top or bottom of diagram?
17.12.2019 - 12:17DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Quinn, please see a question 9 in the list of frequently asked questions (FAQ) here. Happy knitting!

Hello! When knitting the neck warmer do I need to dec 10 stitches only one time in the 1st row of A5 or on every 1st row of A5? My finished piece has 180 stitches at the end and it looks too wide and almost not functional
02.12.2016 - 06:48DROPS Design answered:
Dear Yuliya, that's right so, you dec 10 sts on 1st row in A.5 = 180 then work A.5 on these 180 sts and finish with ribbing also over the 180 sts. Happy knitting!

MITTENS: PATTERN: See diagram A.1. Work entire pattern in stocking st. -------------------------------------------------------- RIGHT MITTEN: Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 48 sts on double pointed needles size 3 mm with light grey. Work rib = K 2/P 2 for 5 cm. Switch to double pointed needles size 3.5 mm and work 1 round while inc 2 sts evenly = 50 sts. NOW MEASURE PIECE FROM HERE! Work A.1 over all sts (= 5 repetitions in width). When piece measures 4 cm, insert 1 marker in the 2nd st on round (= thumb st). REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION When piece measures 6 cm, inc for thumb gusset as follows: Inc 1 st on each side of st with marker - inc by making 1 YO, on next round K YO twisted to avoid holes. Repeat inc every other round a total of 6 times (work all inc sts in light grey) = 13 thumb sts and 62 sts in total. When piece measures 10 cm, slip the 13 thumb sts on 1 stitch holder. On next round, cast on 1 new st behind thumb sts = 50 sts in total. When A.1 has been worked one time vertically insert 1 marker in each side (= 25 sts between markers) and continue with light grey. On next round dec in each side as follows: Work until 3 sts remain before marker, K 2 tog, K 2 (marker is between these sts), slip 1 st as if to K, K 1, psso, repeat dec every other round 5 times in total, then every round 4 times = 14 sts. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. The entire mitten measures approx. 23 cm. THUMB: Slip the 13 sts over thumb gusset on double pointed needles size 3.5 mm and pick in addition up 3 sts along the edge behind thumb sts = 16 sts. Work in stocking st in the round with light grey for approx. 6 cm, then K all sts tog 2 by 2. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining 8 sts, tighten tog and fasten. LEFT MITTEN: Work as right but inc for thumb gusset on each side of next to last st on round. ---------------------------------------------------------- HAT: ---------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagram A.2. Work entire pattern in stocking st. ---------------------------------------------------------- HAT: Worked in the round on circular needle, switch to double pointed needles when needed. Cast on 116 sts with light grey on circular needle size 3.5 mm. Work rib K 2/P 2 until rib measures 4 cm. Switch to circular needle size 4 mm. K 1 round while dec 6 sts evenly = 110 sts. Then work pattern according to diagram A.2 (= 11 repetitions in width). REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION When A.2 has been worked 1 time vertically, continue with light grey and stocking st. K 1 round while inserting 10 markers in the hat with 11 sts between every marker. On next round, dec 1 st after every marker by K 2 tog. Repeat dec every other round 9 times in total = 20 sts remain on round. On next round K all sts tog 2 by 2 = 10 sts on round. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. The hat measures approx. 25 cm vertically. ---------------------------------------------------------- NECK WARMER: ---------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.3-A.5. Work entire pattern in stocking st. ---------------------------------------------------------- NECK WARMER: Worked in the round on circular needle. Cast on 266 sts on circular needle size 4 mm with light grey. K 1 round, P 1 round, K 1 round, then work A.3 (= 19 repetitions in width). When A.3 has been worked one time vertically, there are 190 sts on round. Work A.4 over all sts. Then work according to A.5, on first round in A.5 dec 10 sts evenly = 180 sts. Work A.5 until piece measures 25 cm. Then work rib K 2/P 2 over all sts. Work rib for 5 cm, piece measures 30 cm. Cast off sts with K over K and P over P. |
