---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- INCREASE TIP-1: INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE LEFT- from RIGHT SIDE: Use left needle to pick up yarn between 2 stitches from row below, pick up yarn from the front and knit stitch in stitch loop behind the needle. INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE RIGHT - from RIGHT SIDE: Use left needle to pick up yarn between 2 stitches from row below, pick up yarn from the back and knit stitch in stitch loop in front of needle. INCREASE TIP-2: INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE RIGHT - from WRONG SIDE: Use left needle to pick up yarn between 2 stitches from row below, pick up yarn from the back and purl stitch in stitch loop in front of needle. INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE LEFT - from WRONG SIDE: Use left needle to pick up yarn between 2 stitches from row below, pick up yarn from the front and purl stitch in stitch loop behind the needle. PATTERN: Then work pattern as shown in A.1. Work stocking stitch with pattern every 6 cm, adjust to finish with at least 4 cm stocking stitch before rib at the bottom of body and on sleeves. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread is in the middle of these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased). SLEEVE TIP: When picking up stitches mid under sleeve, there will be a small hole in the transition between stitches on body and sleeves. The holes can be closed by picking up the strand between two stitches - work this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve to close the hole. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed. If 0 stitches are given for the chosen size, it means that you skip the information and jump to next information. Garment is worked as point 1 - 5. 1. BACK PIECE: Cast on stitches in the back of neck and work back piece back and forth downwards while at the same time increasing in each side of piece until number of stitches for shoulder width is reached. Back piece has a slight diagonal shoulder. 2. FRONT PIECE: Worked in 2 parts (= each side of neck). Begin by picking up stitches along one shoulder on back piece, work front piece downwards while increasing towards the neck. Repeat on the other shoulder, then cast on new stitches for neck mid front = put front pieces together into one part. Work front piece back and forth until given measurements. 3. YOKE: On next round work all stitches on same circular needle - work as follows: Work stitches on front piece, pick up stitches for sleeve along the side on front piece, work stitches on back piece, pick up stitches for sleeve along the other side on front piece = then work yoke in the round over all stitches. 4. INCREASES FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: When working the yoke, increase stitches for body and sleeves, first increase for sleeves and then increase for both body and sleeves. 5. BODY AND SLEEVES: When all stitches have been increased and yoke is knitted to given measurements, divide the piece for body and sleeves. Work body downwards in the round on needle while putting the sleeves aside. Then work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. Finish by picking up stitches around the neck and work a neck edge in the round. BACK PIECE: Work piece back and forth on circular needle. Cast on 30- 30-30-32-32-32-34 stitches on circular needle size 5 mm with DROPS Big Merino. ROW 1 (= wrong side): Purl all stitches. ROW 2 (= right side): Read INCREASE TIP-1 and knit 3, increase 1 stitch towards the left, knit until 3 stitches remain, increase 1 stitch towards the right, knit 3. ROW 3 (= wrong side): Read INCREASE TIP-2 and purl 3, increase 1 stitch towards the left, purl until 3 stitches remain, increase 1 stitch towards the right, purl 3. AFTER 3RD ROW: Work 2nd and 3rd ROW 9-9-9-9-9-10-11 times in total (= 18-18-18-18-18-20-22 rows have been worked), after increase there are = 66-66-66-68-68-72-78 stitches on needle. Cut the yarn, slip stitches on a thread or a stitch holder. Remember to follow the knitting tension! LEFT SHOULDER: Find left shoulder on back piece as follows: Place back piece flat with right side up, place back piece so that stitches on thread/stitch holder is towards you, left side of piece = left shoulder. Pick up stitches along left diagonal shoulder on back piece - begin from right side at the neck and pick up stitches out towards the armhole as follows: Pick up 1 stitch in every worked row inside outermost stitch = 18-18-18-18-18-20-22 stitches. All length measurements on front piece are done from pick up edge. Work in stocking stitch (work first row as follows from wrong side). When piece measures 7-8-9-10-11-12-13 cm, increase stitches towards the neck as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Remember INCREASE TIP-1 and knit 3, increase 1 stitch towards the left, work the rest of row. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Purl all stitches. Work 1st and 2nd ROW 4 times in total (= 8 rows have been worked) = 22-22-22-22-22-24-26 stitches. Increases for neck are now done. Piece now measures 11-12-13-14-15-16-17 cm from marker. 2-3-3-4-4-4-5 cm of the neck depth will be over on back piece. Slip stitches on a thread or stitch holder, now work right shoulder along the right diagonal shoulder on back piece as explained below. RIGHT SHOULDER: Find right shoulder on back piece as follows: Place back piece flat with right side up, place back piece so that stitches on thread/stitch holder is towards you, right side of piece = right shoulder. Now pick up stitches along right diagonal shoulder on back piece - begin from right side at the armhole and pick up stitches in towards the neck as follows: Pick up 1 stitch in every worked row inside outermost stitch = 18-18-18-18-18-20-22 stitches. All length measurements on front piece are done from pick up edge. Work in stocking stitch (work first row as follows from wrong side). When piece measures 7-8-9-10-11-12-13 cm, increase stitches towards the neck as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Work until 3 stitches remain, increase towards the right, knit 3 – remember INCREASE TIP-1. On next row (= right side) work front pieces together as follows: Knit the 22-22-22-22-22-24-26 stitches from right front piece, cast on 22-22-22-24-24-24-26 stitches on row, knit the 22-22-22-22-22-24-26 stitches from left front piece = 66-66-66-68-68-72-78 stitches. Work stocking stitch back and forth until piece measures 12-13-14-15-16-16-18 cm. Then slip front piece and back piece together, and pick up stitches for sleeve cap, work as explained below. ROW 1: Knit the first 2 stitches from front piece together (= 1 stitch decreased), knit until 2 stitches remain on front piece, slip 1 stitch, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over (= 1 stitch decreased), insert 1 marker, pick up 20-22-24-26-28-28-30 stitches along the side from left front piece (= stitches for sleeve - pick up stitches inside outermost stitch), insert 1 marker, knit the first 2 stitches from back piece together (= 1 stitch decreased), work until 2 stitches remain on back piece, slip 1 stitch, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over (= 1 stitch decreased), insert 1 marker, pick up 20-22-24-26-28-28-30 stitches along the side from right piece (= stitches for sleeve - pick up stitches inside outermost stitch), insert 1 marker = 168-172-176-184-188-196-212 stitches. Then work in the round as explained below yoke - AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 4 cm from where stitches were cast on for neck, work pattern as shown in A.1 over all stitches - read explanation above. NOTE! A.1 is now divisible by 3 stitches, if the pattern does not fit one whole repetition around the yoke, finish lace row with knit stitches. YOKE: ROUND 1: Knit all stitches and increase 1 stitch in each side of each sleeve as before – remember INCREASE TIP-1, number of stitches on each sleeve increase, number of stitches on front piece and back piece stays the same. ROUND 2: Knit 1 round over all stitches. Work these 2 rounds 7-7-6-4-1-1-1 time (= 34-36-36-34-30-30-32 stitches on each sleeve and 64-64-64-66-66-70-76 stitches on front piece/back piece) = 196-200-200-200-192-200-216 stitches. Work next round as follows: ROUND 1: Knit 2, increase towards the left, knit the until 2 stitches remain before marker, increase towards the right, knit 2, move marker on to right needle, increase towards the left, knit the 34-36-36-34-30-30-32 stitches on sleeve, increase towards the right, move marker on to right needle, knit 2, increase towards the left, knit 62-62-62-64-64-68-70 stitches on back piece, increase towards the right, knit 2, move marker on to right needle, increase towards the left, knit the 34-36-36-34-30-30-32 stitches on sleeve, increase towards the right, move marker on to right needle (= 8 stitches increased, on each side of 2 stitches in every transition between body and sleeve). ROUND 2: Knit all stitches. Repeat these 2 rounds until 7-10-12-15-18-20-20 increases have been done on both body and sleeves. 14-17-18-19-19-21-21 increases have been done in total on sleeves = 252-280-296-320-336-360-376 stitches. There are 48-56-60-64-66-70-72 stitches on each sleeve and 78-84-88-96-102-110-116 stitches on front piece/back piece. Sleeve measures approx. 13-15-16-17-17-19-19 cm - when the jumper is folded double at the shoulder, piece should measure approx. 19-21-23-25-25-27-28 cm from the edge on shoulder and down along the armhole. If the garment is shorter than this, continue until correct measurements without increases. Now divide yoke for body and sleeves. DIVIDING FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: AT THE SAME TIME as next round is worked divide yoke for body and sleeves as follows: Work the first 78-84-88-96-102-110-116 stitches (= front piece), slip the next 48-56-60-64-66-70-72 stitches on a stitch holder for sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-8-10-10-12 new stitches on needle (= in the side mid under sleeve), work the next 78-84-88-96-102-110-116 stitches (= front piece), slip the next 48-56-60-64-66-70-72 stitches on a stitch holder for sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-8-10-10-12 new stitches on needle (= in the side mid under sleeve). Finish body and sleeves separately. BODY: = 168-180-192-208-224-240-256 stitches. Work stocking stitch and A.1 in the round until piece measures 46-47-49-50-51-53-54 from cast-on edge mid back, make sure to finish with at least 4 cm stocking stitch after last repetition of A.1. Switch to circular needles size 3.5 mm, work rib (= knit 2/purl 2) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 28-32-32-36-40-44-44 stitches evenly on 1st round = 196-212-224-244-264-284-300 stitches. When rib measures 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm cast off. Jumper measures 50-51-53-54-56-58-59 cm from mid back and 52-54-56-58-60-62-64 cm from the shoulder. SLEEVES: Slip 48-56-60-64-66-70-72 sleeve stitches from one thread on to circular needle size 5 mm and pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-8-8-10-10-12 stitches cast on under sleeve – read SLEEVE TIP = 54-62-68-72-76-80-84 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 6-6-8-8-10-10-12 new stitches under sleeve - round begins at the marker thread. Work in stocking stitch and A.1 in the round on needle - AT THE SAME TIME when sleeve measures 1 cm from division, decrease mid under sleeve – read DECREASE TIP and decrease as follows: Decrease 2 stitches 2 times on every other round, then decrease 2 stitches 0-2-3-3-4-4-5 times every 3½ cm = 50-54-58-62-64-68-70 stitches on needle. Work until sleeve measures 35-35-34-34-34-33-32 cm from division. Switch to double pointed needles size 3.5 mm and work rib (= knit 2/purl 2) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 10-10-10-10-12-12-14 stitches evenly on 1st round = 60-64-68-72-76-80-84 stitches. When rib measures 5-5-6-6-6-6-6 cm cast off. Sleeve measures approx. 53-55-56-57-58-58-57 cm from shoulder. NECK EDGE: Begin from right side at one shoulder line and pick up approx. 88 to 112 stitches around the neck on circular needle size 3.5 mm (number of stitches must be divisible by 4). Work rib (= knit 2/purl 2) for 4 cm. Cast off by knitting. |
