------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- CHAIN STITCH: If you work outermost on the hook the chain stitch will often be too tight; 1 chain stitch should be as long as 1 treble crochet is wide. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.8. Choose diagram for your size (applies to A.3 and A.4). INCREASE TIP (evenly spaced): Increase 1 treble crochet by working 2 treble crochets in/around the same stitch (always increase on a round of treble crochets). To work out how to increase evenly, count the total number of stitches on the round (e.g., 68) and divide by the number of increases to be made (e.g., 22) = 3.1. In this example, increase by working 2 treble crochets in every 3rd stitch/treble crochet. DECREASE TIP-1 (for sleeves): When working in the round, the rounds will be displaced as you continue onwards. Insert a marker-thread mid-under the sleeve, between 2 stitches and allow it to follow your work vertically. The marker-thread will need to be moved so that it stays mid-under the sleeve. Fold the piece double and check the marker-thread remains mid-under the sleeve for each decrease. Decrease on each side of 2 treble crochets by the marker-thread as follows: Work until there are 3 treble crochets left before the marker-thread, work 2 treble crochets together – read DECREASE TIP-2, work 2 treble crochets (the marker-thread sits between these 2 treble crochets), work 2 treble crochets together (= 2 stitches decreased). DECREASE TIP-2: Decrease 1 treble crochet by working 2 treble crochets together: * Make 1 yarn over, insert the hook through the next stitch, pick up the strand, make 1 yarn over and pull it through the first 2 loops on the hook *, work from *-* 1 more time, make 1 yarn over and pull it through all 3 loops on the hook (1 stitch decreased). DECREASE TIP-3: Decrease 1 double crochet by working 2 double crochets together: Insert the hook through the next stitch, pick up the strand, insert the hook through the next stitch and pick up the strand, make 1 yarn over and pull it through all 3 loops on the hook (1 stitch decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The yoke is worked in the round from the right back shoulder, top down. When the yoke is finished it is divided for the body and sleeves. The body and sleeves are finished separately, in the round. A picot-edge is worked around the neckline to finish. If there is a «0» in your chosen size, skip the information and go straight to the next instruction. YOKE: Work 69-71-73-77-81-83-87 CHAIN STITCHES – read description above, with hook size 5 mm and DROPS Air. Form them into a ring with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch. Continue in the round as follows: Work A.1 in the first stitch, then A.2 to end of round = 68-70-72-76-80-82-86 treble crochets + 3 chain stitches at the beginning of the round. The round begins on the back right shoulder. Continue this pattern. Remember to maintain the crochet tension. When the piece measures 3 cm from the cast-on edge, increase 22-26-33-35-31-32-34 treble crochets evenly on the next round – read INCREASE TIP = 90-96-105-111-111-114-120 treble crochets + 3 chain stitches. When the piece measures 6-6-7-7-7-7-7 cm from the cast-on edge, increase 24-30-33-33-33-33-36 treble crochets evenly on the next round = 114-126-138-144-144-147-156 treble crochets + 3 chain stitches. On the first round after the final set of increases (the piece measures approx. 7-7-8-8-8-8-8 cm from the cast-on edge), work PATTERN – read explanation above as follows: Work A.3 in the first stitch then A.4 to end of round. Continue this pattern. On each round marked with an arrow in A.4, increase as follows – remember INCREASE TIP. Arrow-1: Increase 24-30-30-33-30-33-36 treble crochets evenly spaced = 138-156-168-177-174-180-192 treble crochets + 3 chain stitches. Arrow-2: Increase 24-30-30-33-30-33-36 treble crochets evenly spaced = 162-186-198-210-204-213-228 treble crochets + 3 chain stitches. Arrow-3: Increase 26-26-30-34-30-33-36 treble crochets evenly spaced = 188-212-228-244-234-246-264 treble crochets + 3 chain stitches. The increases are finished in sizes XS, S, M and L. Arrow-4: Increase 0-0-0-0-30-30-36 treble crochets evenly spaced = 188-212-228-244-264-276-300 treble crochets + 3 chain stitches. When A.3 and A.4 are finished in height, continue working treble crochets without further increases (i.e., work A.1 in the first stitch and A.2 to end of round). Work until the piece measures 19-20-22-23-23-25-27 cm from the cast-on edge. Now divide for the body and sleeves. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: Work 9-9-11-11-11-13-13 chain stitches (= 3 chain stitches at the beginning of the round + 6-6-8-8-8-10-10 chain stitches mid-under the sleeve), skip the next 38-44-48-52-54-54-58 stitches (= sleeve), work as before across the next 56-62-66-70-78-84-92 stitches (= front piece), work 6-6-8-8-8-10-10 chain stitches (= mid-under the sleeve), skip the next 38-44-48-52-54-54-58 stitches (= sleeve) and work the last 56-62-66-70-78-84-92 stitches as before (= back piece), finish with 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the round. The body and sleeves are finished separately. BODY: = 124-136-148-156-172-188-204 stitches + 3 chain stitches at the beginning of the round. Continue A.1 and A.2 in the round for a further 27-28-28-29-30-30-30 cm. Work 2 rounds of double crochets, i.e., work A.5 in the first stitch and A.6 to the end of the round. Cut and fasten the strand. The jumper measures approx. 47-49-51-53-54-56-58 cm from the cast-on edge mid-front and 52-54-56-58-60-62-64 cm from the shoulder. SLEEVES: The 38-44-48-52-54-54-58 skipped stitches are now worked for the sleeves as follows: Fasten the strand with 1 slip stitch in the 4th-4th-5th-5th-5th-6th-6th of the 6-6-8-8-8-10-10 chain stitches worked under the sleeve, work 3 chain stitches (= beginning of round), work 1 treble crochet in the same stitch, 1 treble crochet in each of the next 1-1-2-2-2-3-3 chain stitches, then work 2 treble crochets together as follows: work 1 treble crochet in the last chain stitch but wait with the last yarn-over and pull-through, work 1 more treble crochet in the same way around the treble crochet in the transition between body and sleeve, make 1 yarn over and pull it through all 3 loops on the hook (this avoids a large hole in the transition between body and sleeve), work 1 treble crochet in each of the 38-44-48-52-54-54-58 treble crochets on the yoke, as far as the chain stitches on the other side of the sleeve, work 2 treble crochets together as described above in the transition between body and sleeve, work 1 treble crochet in each of the last 2-2-3-3-3-4-4 chain stitches under the sleeve = 44-50-56-60-62-64-68 treble crochets + 3 chain stitches. Continue with treble crochets in the round as before, i.e., work A.1 in the first stitch and A.2 to end of round. AT THE SAME TIME, when the sleeve measures 2 cm from the division, decrease mid-under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP-1 and DECREASE TIP-2. Repeat the decreases 0-0-0-1-1-1-1 more time when the piece measures 0-0-0-5-5-5-5 cm from the division = 42-48-54-56-58-60-64 treble crochets + 3 chain stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 43-42-41-40-41-40-38 cm from the division. Work 2 rounds of double crochets, i.e., work A.5 in the first stitch and A.6 to end of round. AT THE SAME TIME, on the last round increase 0-0-0-1-2-0-2 double crochets evenly spaced (increase 1 double crochet by working 2 double crochets in the same double crochet) = 42-48-54-57-60-60-66 double crochets + 1 chain stitch. Now work a round of picots as follows: Work A.7 in the first stitch and A.8 to end of round (= 14-16-18-19-20-20-22 picots on the round). Cut and fasten the strand. The sleeve measures approx. 45-44-43-42-43-42-40 cm from the division. NECK-EDGE WITH PICOT: Start at the beginning of the round on the neckline. Use crochet hook size 4 mm. Work 1 slip stitch in the first stitch, then work A.5 in the same stitch and A.6 to end of round = 68-70-72-76-80-82-86 double crochets + 1 chain stitch. On the last round in A.5/A.6 decrease 2-1-0-1-2-1-2 double crochets evenly spaced – read DECREASE TIP-3 = 66-69-72-75-78-81-84 double crochets + 1 chain stitch. Now work a round of picots as follows: Work A.7 in the first stitch and A.8 to end of round (= 22-23-24-25-26-27-28 picots on the round). Cut and fasten the strand. |
