------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- INCREASE TIP-1: INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS LEFT –right side (new stitch twists to the left): Use the left needle to pick up the strand between 2 stitches from the previous row, pick up the strand from the front and knit the back loop. INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS RIGHT –right side (new stitch twists to the right): Use the left needle to pick up the strand between 2 stitches from the previous row, pick up the strand from the back and knit the front loop. INCREASE TIP-2: INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS LEFT – wrong side (new stitch twists to the left): Use the left needle to pick up the strand between 2 stitches from the previous row, pick up the strand from the back and purl the front loop. INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS RIGHT – wrong side (new stitch twists to the right): Use the left needle to pick up the strand between 2 stitches from the previous row, pick up the strand from the front and purl the back loop. SLEEVE TIP: When knitting up stitches under the sleeve, you can get a small hole in the transition between stitches on the body and sleeve. This hole can be closed by picking up the strand between 2 stitches and working this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The jumper is worked according to points 1 – 5. 1 BACK PIECE: Cast on stitches for the back of the neck and work the back piece back and forth, increasing on each side for the shoulders to the correct width and creating slightly diagonal shoulders. 2 FRONT PIECE: Worked in 2 sections (each side of the neck). Start by knitting up stitches along one back shoulder, work the front shoulder downwards, increasing for the neckline. This is repeated on the other shoulder. Stitches are cast on for the neckline mid-front and the shoulders joined for the front piece, which is continued back and forth to the correct length. 3 YOKE: On the next round, all stitches are worked onto the same circular needle, working the front piece, knitting up stitches for the sleeve along the side of the front piece, working the back piece, knitting up stitches for the sleeve along the other side of the front piece. The yoke is then continued in the round. 4 INCREASE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: At the same time as working the yoke, stitches are increased for the body and sleeves (first the sleeves, then til both the sleeves and the body). 5 BODY AND SLEEVES: When all stitches are increased and the yoke is finished, it is divided for the body and sleeves, which are finished separately. If there is a «0» in your chosen size, skip the information and go straight to the next instruction. BACK PIECE: The piece is worked back and forth. Cast on 19-20-21-22-23-24-25 stitches with circular needle size 8 mm and DROPS Andes or DROPS Snow. ROW 1 (wrong side): Purl. ROW 2 (right side): Read INCREASE TIP-1. Knit 3, increase 1 stitch towards the left, knit until there are 3 stitches left, increase 1 stitch towards the right, knit 3. ROW 3 (wrong side): Read INCREASE TIP-2. Purl 3, increase 1 stitch towards the left, purl until there are 3 stitches left, increase 1 stitch towards the right, purl 3. Work ROWS 2 and 3 a total of 6-6-6-6-6-6-6 times (12-12-12-12-12-12-12 rows worked) = 43-44-45-46-47-48-49 stitches. Remember to maintain the knitting tension. Cut the strand and place the stitches on a stitch holder. LEFT FRONT SHOULDER: Find the left back shoulder as follows: Lay the back piece flat, right side up, with the stitch holder towards you; left side of piece = left shoulder. From the right side, knit up stitches along the left back shoulder, starting by the neckline as follows: Knit up 1 stitch in each worked row, inside the outermost stitch (= 12-12-12-12-12-12-12 stitches), then knit up 1 stitch outermost on the shoulder (= edge stitch) = 13-13-13-13-13-13-13 shoulder-stitches. Insert 1 marker by the neck. All length measurements on the front piece are taken from this marker. Work stocking stitch (the first row is from the wrong side). When the front piece measures 8-9-10-9-9-10-10 cm, increase for the neckline as follows: ROW 1 (right side): Remember INCREASE TIP-1. Knit 3, increase 1 stitch towards the left, knit to end of row. ROW 2 (wrong side): Purl. Work ROWS 1 and 2 a total of 3-3-3-4-4-4-4 times (6-6-6-8-8-8-8 rows worked) = 16-16-16-17-17-17-17 stitches. The increases for the neckline are finished. The piece measures approx. 12-13-14-15-15-16-16 cm from the marker. Some of the neck-length will be at the back. Neck-length in front = 10-11-11-12-12-12-12 cm. Neck-length at back = 2-2-3-3-3-4-4 cm. Cut the strand and place the stitches on a stitch holder. Work the right front shoulder. RIGHT FRONT SHOULDER: From the right side, knit up stitches along the right back shoulder, starting by the armhole as follows: Start by knitting up 1 stitch outermost on the shoulder (= edge stitch), then knit up 1 stitch in each worked row, inside the outermost stitch (12-12-12-12-12-12-12 stitches) = 13-13-13-13-13-13-13 shoulder stitches. Insert 1 marker by the neck. All length measurements on the front piece are taken from this marker. Work stocking stitch (the first row is from the wrong side). When the front piece measures 8-9-10-9-9-10-10 cm, increase for the neckline as follows: ROW 1 (right side): Knit until there are 3 stitches left, increase 1 stitch towards the left, knit 3 - remember INCREASE TIP-1. FRONT PIECE: On the next row (right side) join the shoulders for the front piece as follows: Knit the 16-16-16-17-17-17-17 stitches on the right shoulder, cast on 11-12-13-12-13-14-15 stitches for the neckline, knit the 16-16-16-17-17-17-17 stitches on the left shoulder = 43-44-45-46-47-48-49 stitches. Continue stocking stitch back and forth until the piece measures 12-13-14-15-15-16-16 cm from the marker, with the last row from the wrong side. The front and back pieces are now joined and stitches are knitted up for the sleeves as follows: ROW 1 (right side): Knit the first 2 stitches on the front piece together (= 1 stitch decreased), work until there are 2 stitches left, slip 1 stitch, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over (= 1 stitch decreased), insert 1 marker here, knit up 13-14-15-16-17-18-18 stitches along the side of the left front piece inside the outermost stitch (sleeve-stitches), insert 1 marker, knit the first 2 stitches on the back piece together (= 1 stitch decreased), work until there are 2 stitches left, slip 1 stitch, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over (= 1 stitch decreased), insert 1 marker, knit up 13-14-15-16-17-18-18 stitches along the side of the right front piece inside the outermost stitch (sleeve-stitches), insert 1 marker = 108-112-116-120-124-128-130 stitches. YOKE: Continue working in the round. ROUND 1: Knit all stitches and increase 1 stitch on each side of each sleeve – remember INCREASE TIP-1 – increase 1 stitch towards the left at the beginning of the sleeve and 1 stitch towards the right at the end of the sleeve.
