------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagram A.1. The first round in the diagram shows the pattern when the markers for raglan are inserted. Start working from round 2, when stitches are decreased, then repeat the 3rd round in A.1 until the raglan-increases are finished. RAGLAN: Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over, which is worked as follows on the next round: AFTER MARKER: Knit through the back loop to avoid a hole. Then work the new stitch in stocking stitch. BEFORE MARKER: Slip the yarn over off the left needle and replace it the other way round (insert the left needle through the back when replacing it). Knit through the front loop to avoid a hole. Then work the new stitch in stocking stitch. SLEEVE TIP: When knitting up stitches under the sleeve, you can get a small hole in the transition between stitches on the body and sleeve. This hole can be closed by picking up the strand between 2 stitches and working this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve. DECREASE TIP (for sleeves): Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, top down and from the right back shoulder. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for the body and sleeves and the body continued in the round, while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked top down, in the round. NECK: Cast on 96-104-104-112-120-120-128 stitches with circular needle size 3 mm and DROPS Lima or DROPS Cotton Merino. Knit 3 rounds (= rolled edge), then work rib as follows: Knit 1, work rib (purl 2, knit 2) until there are 3 stitches left, purl 2, knit 1. Work this rib for 3-3-3-4-4-4-5 cm. The round begins on the right back shoulder. Insert 1 marker after the first 38-40-40-44-46-46-48 stitches (approx. mid-front); the piece is now measured from here. YOKE: Insert 8 markers as follows, without working the stitches, inserting the markers on each side of 8 stitches (raglan-stitches), which match the pattern on the first row in A.1 – read PATTERN in explanations above. You increase for raglan on each side of these raglan-stitches. Insert marker-1 at the beginning of the round, count 8-8-8-8-8-8-8 stitches (= raglan-stitches/A.1), insert marker-2 before the next stitch, count 12-12-12-16-16-16-16 stitches (= sleeve), insert marker-3 before the next stitch, count 8-8-8-8-8-8-8 stitches (= raglan-stitches/A.1), insert marker-4 before the next stitch, count 20-24-24-24-28-28-32 stitches (= front piece), insert marker-5 before the next stitch, count 8-8-8-8-8-8-8 stitches (= raglan-stitches/A.1), insert marker-6 before the next stitch, count 12-12-12-16-16-16-16 stitches (= sleeve), insert marker-7 before the next stitch, count 8-8-8-8-8-8-8 stitches (= raglan-stitches/A.1), insert marker-8 before the next stitch, there are 20-24-24-24-28-28-32 stitches left after the last marker (= back piece). Change to circular needle size 4 mm. Work the first round as follows from the right back shoulder: Work round-2 in A.1, knit 12-12-12-16-16-16-16 and increase 2-2-2-2-2-2-2 stitches evenly across these stitches (= sleeve), work round-2 in A.1, knit 20-24-24-24-28-28-32 and increase 2-2-2-2-4-6-8 stitches evenly across these stitches (= 22-26-26-26-32-34-40 stitches on the front piece), work round-2 in A.1, knit 12-12-12-16-16-16-16 and increase 2-2-2-2-2-2-2 stitches evenly across these stitches (= sleeve), work round-2 in A.1, knit 20-24-24-24-28-28-36 and increase 2-2-2-2-4-6-8 stitches evenly across these stitches (= 22-26-26-26-32-34-40 stitches on the back piece) = 96-104-104-112-124-128-140 stitches. Work stocking stitch in the round, repeating round-3 in A.1 – AT THE SAME TIME increase for RAGLAN on each side of the raglan-stitches/A.1 as follows – read explanation above, describing how to increase. RAGLAN: ROUND 1: Knit and work round-3 in A.1, increasing for raglan on each side of the raglan-stitches/A.1 (= 8 increased stitches). NOTE: At the beginning of the round increase after marker-2, at the end of the round increase before marker-1. ROUND 2: Knit and work round-3 in A.1. Work ROUNDS 1 and 2 a total of 12-17-20-15-16-13-13 times (24-34-40-30-32-26-26 rounds worked) = 192-240-264-232-252-232-244 stitches. Remember to maintain the knitting tension. Now increase as follows: ROUND 1: Knit and work round-3 in A.1, increasing for raglan on each side of the raglan-stitches/A.1 (= 8 increased stitches). ROUND 2: Knit and work round-3 in A.1. ROUND 3: Knit and work round-3 in A.1, increasing for raglan on the front and back pieces, i.e., after markers 4 and 8, and before markers 5 and 1 – do not increase across the sleeves (= 4 increased stitches). ROUND 4: Knit and work round-3 in A.1. Work ROUNDS 1 to 4 a total of 9-7-7-11-11-15-16 times (36-28-28-44-44-60-64 rounds worked; 9-7-7-11-11-15-16 increases in height on the sleeves and 18-14-14-22-22-30-32 increases in height on the front and back pieces) = 300-324-348-364-384-412-436 stitches. All increases for raglan are finished. A total of 30-31-34-37-38-43-45 increases in height on the front and back pieces and 21-24-27-26-27-28-29 increases in height on the sleeves. A.1 is also finished. Now work stocking stitch in the round, without increasing, until the yoke measures 22-23-25-26-27-31-32 cm from the marker mid-front. Now divide for the body and sleeves. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: When the yoke is divided, the raglan-stitches will be positioned slightly inside the front and back pieces. Knit 6-6-6-6-6-6-6 (stitches belong to the back piece), place the next 56-62-68-70-72-74-76 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 10-14-16-18-20-22-24 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), knit 94-100-106-112-120-132-142 (= front piece), place the next 56-62-68-70-72-74-76 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 10-14-16-18-20-22-24 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), knit the last 88-94-100-106-114-126-136 stitches (rest of back piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. BODY: = 208-228-244-260-280-308-332 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 10-14-16-18-20-22-24 stitches cast on under one sleeve. Knit to the marker; the round now begins here. Work stocking stitch in the round until the piece measures 49-52-54-54-56-58-59 cm from the marker mid-front. Change to circular needle size 3 mm. Work rib (knit 2, purl 2), AT THE SAME TIME increase 40-44-48-52-56-60-64 stitches evenly on the first round = 248-272-292-312-336-368-396 stitches. When the rib measures 3-3-3-4-4-4-5 cm, cast off a little loosely with rib. The jumper measures approx. 52-55-57-58-60-62-64 cm from the marker mid-front and 55-58-60-62-64-66-68 cm from the shoulder. SLEEVES: Place the 56-62-68-70-72-74-76 sleeve-stitches from one thread on circular needle size 4 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 56-62-68-70-72-74-76 stitches cast on under the sleeve – read SLEEVE TIP = 66-76-84-88-92-96-100 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the 56-62-68-70-72-74-76 stitches under the sleeve- the round starts by the marker-thread. Work stocking stitch in the round. AT THE SAME TIME, when the sleeve measures 1 cm from the division, decrease mid-under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP, as follows: Decrease 2 stitches every 2nd round 2-2-2-3-3-3-3 times = 62-72-80-82-86-90-94 stitches. Then decrease 2 stitches every 10-5-3-3-2½-2-1½ cm a total of 4-7-10-10-11-12-13 times = 54-58-60-62-64-66-68 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 39-39-38-37-36-33-31 cm from the division. Change to double pointed needles size 3 mm. Work rib (knit 2, purl 2), AT THE SAME TIME increase 10-10-12-10-12-10-12 stitches evenly on the first round = 64-68-72-72-76-76-80 stitches. When the rib measures 3-3-3-4-4-4-5 cm, cast off slightly loosely with rib. The sleeve measures approx. 42-42-41-41-40-37-36 cm from the division. |
