Can you explain A1 more fully? Once I put the yarn over and am knitting into the back of the two stitches on the left needle, is it into each of the two stitches? Which of the 2 do I knit into the back of first? Not understanding.

Dear Meg Merry, yes, you have to knit into the back of each of the two stitches. Happy knitting!

Peccato

---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagram A.1 (= 2 stitches increased) and A.2 (= 1 stitch increased). GARTER STITCH (when working back and forth): Knit on all rows, i.e. knit from right side and knit from wrong side. 1 ridge vertically = knit 2 rows. I-CORD: FIRST 2 STITCHES: Work as follows on every row: Slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1. LAST 2 STITCHES: Work as follows on every row: Work until 2 stitches remain on needle, slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1. INCREASE TIP (evenly): To calculate how to increase evenly, use the total number of stitches on row (e.g. 84 stitches) and divide stitches by number of increases to be done (e.g. 22) = 3.8. In this example increase by making 1 yarn over after approx. every 4th stitch. On next row/round work yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread is between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed. Work neck edge and yoke in the round on circular needle from right shoulder back, and work top down. When yoke is done, divide stitches for body and sleeves. Divide the body for vents in each side and then finish front piece and back piece back and forth on circular needle separately. Then work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. Fold the neck edge double against the wrong side and fasten. If 0 is given for the chosen size, it means that you skip the information until next information. NECK EDGE: Cast on 88-96-100-104-108-112 stitches on circular needle size 5 mm with DROPS Air. Switch to circular needle size 3.5 mm (cast on on a larger needle to get an elastic cast-on edge). Work rib in the round (= knit 2/purl 2) for 11-11-12-12-13-13 cm. The neck edge is later folded in towards wrong side and assembled to form a neck edge of approx. 5-5-5½-5½-6-6 cm. On next round increase 22-24-25-26-27-28 stitches by making 1 yarn over after every purl stitch section = 110-120-125-130-135-140 stitches. On next round purl yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. Continue rib with 2 knit/3 purl until neck edge measures 12-12-13-13-14-14 cm from cast-on edge. Beginning of round is at right shoulder at the back. Insert 1 marker after the first 44-48-50-52-54-56 stitches on round (= approx. mid front), measures piece from this marker. YOKE: Switch to circular needle size 5 mm and work 1 round in stocking stitch while increasing 0-0-5-0-5-10 stitches evenly - read INCREASE TIP = 110-120-130-130-140-150 stitches. Then work in stocking stitch. Remember to follow the knitting tension! When yoke measures 4-4-4-5-5-5 cm from marker, increase stitches by working PATTERN – read explanation above and work as follows: * Work 2 stitches in stocking stitch, A.1, 1 stitch in stocking stitch *, work from *-* the entire round = 154-168-182-182-196-210 stitches. Continue in stocking stitch until yoke measures 8-8-8-10-10-10 cm from marker. Work next round as follows: * 3 stitches in stocking stitch, A.1. 2 stitches in stocking stitch *, work from *-* the entire round = 198-216-234-234-252-270 stitches. Continue in stocking stitch until yoke measures 12-13-13-15-15-16 cm from marker. FIND YOUR SIZE: Then work according to your size below. SIZE S-M-L: * 4 stitches in stocking stitch, A.2, 3 stitches in stocking stitch *, work from *-* the entire round = 220-240-260 stitches. Then work from ALLE SIZES. SIZE L/XL - XL-XXL-XXXL: * 4 stitches in stocking stitch, A.1, 3 stitches in stocking stitch *, work from *-* the entire round = 286-308-330 stitches. Then work from ALLE SIZES: ALL SIZES: Continue in stocking stitch until yoke measures 16-18-18-20-20-22 cm from marker. Work next round as follows: * 4-4-4-5-5-5 stitches in stocking stitch, A.2, 4-4-4-5-5-5 stitches in stocking stitch *, work from *-* the entire round = 242-264-286-312-336-360 stitches. When yoke measures 18-20-20-22-22-24 cm from marker, increase 2-0-0-0-0-4 stitches evenly = 244-264-286-312-336-364 stitches. Work in stocking stitch. When yoke measures 21-23-23-24-26-28 cm from marker divide piece for body and sleeves. DIVIDING FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: AT THE SAME as next round is worked divide yoke for body and sleeves as follows: Slip the first 46-48-55-60-62-66 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 8-8-10-10-12-12 new stitches on needle (= in the side mid under sleeve), work 76-84-88-96-106-116 stitches in stocking stitch (= front piece), slip the next 46-48-55-60-62-66 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 8-8-10-10-12-12 new stitches on needle (= in the side mid under sleeve), and work in stocking stitch over the last 76-84-88-96-106-116 stitches (= back piece). Finish body and sleeves separately. BODY: = 168-184-196-212-236-256 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread in each side on body, in the middle of the 8-8-10-10-12-12 stitches cast on under each sleeve and move the marker threads when working, use the marker threads when piece is divided for vents in each side. Work until first marker thread, round begins here and work in the round in stocking stitch. Work until piece measures 43-45-46-47-49-51 cm from marker mid front. Now divide the piece for a vent in each side of body, divide at the marker threads by setting the stitches from back piece on hold and working stitch from front piece back and forth on needle as explained below. FRONT PIECE: = 84-92-98-106-118-128 stitches. On next row (= wrong side) begin rib while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 22-26-28-32-36-38 stitches evenly on needle= 106-118-126-138-154-166 stitches, work as follows: Switch to circular needle size 3.5 mm, work 2 stitches I-CORD and 2 stitches in GARTER STITCH - read explanation above work rib (= purl 2/knit 2 - remember increase), until 6 stitches remain, purl 2, 2 stitches in garter stitch and 2 stitches i-cord. When rib measures 6-6-6-7-7-7 cm cast off. Jumper measures 49-51-52-54-56-58 cm from marker mid front and approx. 54-56-58-60-62-64 cm from the top of shoulder. BACK PIECE: Work as on front piece. SLEEVES: Slip 46-48-55-60-62-66 sleeve stitches from one thread on to circular needle size 5 mm and pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 8-8-10-10-12-12 stitches cast under sleeve = 54-56-65-70-74-78 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread in the middle of the 8-8-10-10-12-12 new stitches under sleeve - round begins at the marker thread. Work in stocking stitch in the round on needle - AT THE SAME TIME when sleeve measures 4-4-4-3-3-3 cm from division, decrease mid under sleeve – read DECREASE TIP and decrease as follows: Decrease 2 stitches every 7½-7-4-3½-3-2½ cm 5-5-9-10-11-12 times in total = 44-46-47-50-52-54 stitches. Work until sleeve measures 40-37-39-37-36-34 cm from division. Switch to double pointed needles size 3.5 mm and work rib (= knit 2/purl 2) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 8-10-9-10-8-10 stitches evenly on 1st round = 52-56-56-60-60-64 stitches. When rib measures 6-6-6-7-7-7 cm cast off. Sleeve measures approx. 46-43-45-44-43-41 cm from division. ASSEMBLY: Fold the top 5-5-5½-5½-6-6 cm rib at the top of neck down on inside of garment. Fasten rib to get a double neck edge. To avoid a tight neck edge that sticks out it is important to keep the seam elastic. |
