After Arrow 3 , I had 378 stitches , which is correct for sizeL. Then in the 12th row after arrow 3, I am told to yarn over every 6th stitch. This gives me may more then the 378 I should have before Arrow4. What have I done wrong?
13.02.2025 - 10:45DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mairi, In arrow 3 you increased 40 stitches to 324 stitches, not 378. Then, increase 1 stitch per repeat of the chart. As indicated at the very beginning of A.1, you work A.1 54 times in the round. So, if you increase 54 stitches, you get exactly 378 stitches, as needed for the next step. Happy knitting!

Bon tricot!

Am knitting the pattern 255-24 and I do t understand the pattern graph. What does x mean? It is not in the key? Thank you.
02.11.2024 - 22:52DROPS Design answered:
Dear Christine, there seems to be a mistake in the chart explanations; the X would be the purl stitch (the symbol for purl is wrong since it's not used in the pattern). We will correct it as soon as possible. Happy knitting!

---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. Choose diagram for desired size (applies to A.1). INCREASE TIP (evenly): To calculate how to increase evenly, use the total number of stitches on row (e.g. 134 stitches) and divide stitches by number of increases to be done (e.g. 34) = 3.9. In this example increase by making 1 yarn over after approx. every 4th stitch. On next round work yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 4 stitches remain before marker thread and knit 2 together, knit 4 (marker thread is in the middle of these 4 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed. Work neck edge and yoke in the round on circular needle from right shoulder back, and work top down. When yoke is done, divide piece for body and sleeves. Work body down wards in the round on circular needle while putting the sleeves aside. Then work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. NECK EDGE: Cast on 134-140-146-154-160-168 stitches on circular needle size 3 mm with DROPS Baby Merino. Switch to circular needle size 2.5 mm (cast on on a larger needle to get an elastic cast-on edge). Work 3 rounds in stocking stitch, then work 2 rounds rib (= knit 1/purl 1). Then work in stocking stitch until neck edge measures 5-5-6-6-7-7 cm from cast-on edge. Beginning of round is at right shoulder at the back. Insert 1 marker after the first 47-48-49-54-56-58 stitches on round (= approx. mid front), measures piece from this marker. YOKE: Switch to circular needle size 3 mm, work 1 round in stocking stitch while increasing 34-36-38-40-42-46 stitches evenly - read INCREASE TIP = 168-176-184-194-202-214 stitches. Then work in stocking stitch. Remember to follow the knitting tension! When yoke measures 3-3-3-3-4-4 cm from marker, increase 40-40-40-42-42-50 stitches evenly – remember INCREASE TIP = 208-216-224-236-244-264 stitches. Continue in stocking stitch until piece measures 4-5-5-5-6-6 cm from marker. Now work PATTERN - read explanation above, i.e. work A.1 52-54-56-59-61-66 times in total in the round on yoke - AT THE SAME TIME on every round marked with arrow in A.1 increase stitches evenly as explained below - read INCREASE TIP: Arrow-1: Increase 24-24-28-32-32-40 stitches evenly = 232-240-252-268-276-304 stitches. Arrow-2: Increase 24-28-32-36-40-44 stitches evenly = 256-268-284-304-316-348 stitches. Arrow-3: Increase 32-32-40-44-56-60 stitches evenly = 288-300-324-348-372-408 stitches. Increase as shown in diagram = 336-350-378-406-434-476 stitches on needle before arrow 4. Arrow-4: Increase 24-30-30-38-42-44 stitches evenly = 360-380-408-444-476-520 stitches. When A.1 has been worked, work A.2 90-95-102-111-119-130 times in total in the round on yoke. Continue pattern as follows AT THE SAME TIME on every round marked with arrow in A.2 increase stitches evenly as follows: Arrow-5: Increase 20-24-32-36-36-36 stitches evenly = 380-404-440-480-512-556 stitches. Arrow-6: Increase 8-12-8-20-20-20 stitches evenly = 388-416-448-500-532-576 stitches. When A.2 has been worked vertically yoke measures approx. 19-20-20-23-24-24 cm from marker. Work in stocking stitch. When yoke measures 20-22-23-23-25-27 cm from marker mid front, divide piece for body and sleeves. DIVIDING FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: AT THE SAME TIME as next round is worked divide yoke for body and sleeves as follows: Slip the first 74-78-86-98-100-106 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 10-10-12-12-14-14 new stitches on needle (= in the side mid under sleeve), work 120-130-138-152-166-182 stitches in stocking stitch (= front piece), slip the next 74-78-86-98-100-106 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 10-10-12-12-14-14 new stitches on needle (= in the side mid under sleeve), and work in stocking stitch over the last 120-130-138-152-166-182 stitches (= back piece). Finish body and sleeves separately. BODY: = 260-280-300-328-360-392 stitches. Insert 1 marker in one side of piece (= in the middle of the 10-10-12-12-14-14 stitches that were cast on under sleeve). Work until marker, round begins here and work in the round. Work in stocking stitch until piece measures 43-45-47-47-49-51 cm from marker mid front. Switch to circular needles size 2.5 mm, work rib (= knit 1/purl 1) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 36-40-44-48-52-58 stitches evenly on 1st round = 296-320-344-376-412-450 stitches. When rib measures 4-4-4-5-5-5 cm cast off. Jumper measures 47-49-51-52-54-56 cm from marker mid front and approx. 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm from the top of shoulder. SLEEVES: Slip 74-78-86-98-100-106 sleeve stitches from one thread on to circular needle size 3 mm and pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 10-10-12-12-14-14 stitches cast on under sleeve = 84-88-98-110-114-120 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread in the middle of the 10-10-12-12-14-14 new stitches under sleeve - round begins at the marker thread. Work in stocking stitch in the round on needle - AT THE SAME TIME when sleeve measures 1 cm from division, decrease mid under sleeve – read DECREASE TIP and decrease as follows: Decrease 2 stitches 3-3-4-5-5-6 times on every other round, then decrease 2 stitches every 1½-1½-1-1-1-1 cm 7-7-10-14-14-15 times in total = 64-68-70-72-76-78 stitches. Work until sleeve measures 43-41-41-41-39-38 cm from division. Switch to double pointed needles size 2.5 mm and work rib (= knit 1/purl 1) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 6-6-8-8-8-8 stitches evenly on 1st round = 70-74-78-80-84-86 stitches. When rib measures 4-4-4-5-5-5 cm cast off. Sleeve measures approx. 47-45-45-46-44-43 cm from division. |
