In the right front, the last buttonhole (in size S) is made at 31cm, but the front pieces instructions say to place the outermost stitches on a thread at the same length, 31cm. Should I place the yarn over for the buttonhole onto the thread, and then work it with the garter stitch ridge at the end? Or do another wrong-side row to finish the buttonhole? I'm a little confused about where the buttonhole is supposed to fall

Hi Lisa, It is best to work the buttonhole on the last 2 rows before placing stitches on a thread/stitch holder. Happy Easter!

I followed the pattern on the sleeves but I got a sleeve with a curve not matching the armhole of the body piece. Moreover, it seems that the circumference is not aligning with the armhole that made the assemble of sleeve to body impossible. Any idea if I did something wrong?
17.05.2024 - 05:11DROPS Design answered:
Dear Peony, did you cast off the same number of stitches on each side of sleeve cap? Ie both at the beg from right side and from wrong side so that the sleeve cap is symmetrical and measures the correct height (see chart). Then the sleeve cap should fit nicely along armhole. Happy assembly!

On the front piece, should it not read bind off for the neckline every 2nd row. It reads bind off for armhole on your pattern!!

DROPS 248-28 |

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- BANDS WITH I-CORD: START OF ROW: Work the band as follows: Slip 1 stitch purl-wise, with yarn in front, knit 1, work 5 garter stitches. END OF ROW: Work the band as follows: Work until there are 7 stitches left on the row, work 5 garter stitches, slip 1 stitch purl-wise with yarn in front, knit 1. GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge = knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. The diagrams show all rows in the pattern from the right side. BUTTONHOLES: Work the buttonholes on the right band. 1 buttonhole = knit together the 4th and 5th stitch from the edge and make 1 yarn over, which is knitted on the next row. Work the buttonholes when the piece measures: SIZE S: 7, 15, 23, 31 cm. SIZE M: 7, 15½, 24, 32½ cm. SIZE L: 8, 16½, 25, 33½ cm. SIZE XL: 8, 15, 22, 29, 36 cm. SIZE XXL: 9, 16, 23, 30, 37 cm. SIZE XXXL: 9, 16½, 24, 31½, 39 cm. INCREASE TIP (for body): All increases are worked from the right side. Work until there are 2 stitches left before the marker-thread, 1 yarn over, knit 4 (marker-thread sits between these 4 stitches), 1 yarn over. On the next row purl the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. ------------------------------------------------------- START HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JACKET – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE. The pattern uses needles different lengths; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The body is worked back and forth, bottom up as far as the armholes. The piece is then divided and the front and back pieces finished separately. The sleeves are worked in the round, bottom up as far as the armhole, then the sleeve cap is finished back and forth. The piece is sewn together and the neck worked to finish. BODY: Cast on 232-256-280-312-356-392 stitches with circular needle size 2.5 mm and DROPS Safran. Purl 1 row from the wrong side. Then work pattern as follows, starting from the right side: Work 7 band-stitches – read BANDS WITH I-CORD, work A.1 until there are 9 stitches left, A.2 and 7 band-stitches. Continue this pattern back and forth for 7-7-8-8-9-9 cm – with the next row from the right side. Read BUTTONHOLES in explanations above. Switch to circular needle size 3.5 mm and work 7 band stitches, stocking stitch until there are 7 stitches left, decreasing 46-54-58-66-78-82 stitches evenly spaced over these stitches, 7 band-stitches = 186-202-222-246-278-310 stitches. Insert 1 marker-thread 50-54-59-65-73-81 stitches in from each side (86-94-104-116-132-148 stitches between the marker-threads on the back piece). Continue with stocking stitch and 7 band stitches on each side. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When the piece measures 9-9-10-10-11-11 cm, increase on each side of both marker-threads – read INCREASE TIP. Increase like this every 2-2-2-2-3-3 cm a total of 6-6-6-6-5-5 times on each side = 210-226-246-270-298-330 stitches. Work until the piece measures 21-22-23-24-25-26 cm from the cast-on edge – with the next row from the right side. Now divide for the front and back pieces. DIVIDE FOR FRONT AND BACK PIECES: Work 53-57-61-67-73-81 stitches as before (front piece), cast off 6-6-8-8-10-10 stitches for the armhole, work 92-100-108-120-132-148 stocking stitches (back piece), cast off 6-6-8-8-10-10 stitches for the armhole and work the last 53-57-61-67-73-81 stitches as before (front piece). The front and back pieces are finished separately. FRONT PIECES: = 53-57-61-67-73-81 stitches. Continue back and forth with stocking stitch and band-stitches and cast off for the armhole every 2nd row: 3 stitches 0-0-0-1-1-2 times, 2 stitches 1-2-3-4-5-6 times and 1 stitch 1-2-3-3-6-7 times = 50-51-52-53-54-56 stitches. When the piece measures 31-33-34-36-37-39 cm, place the outermost 11-11-12-12-13-13 stitches mid-front on a thread for the neckline (i.e., 7 band-stitches + 4-4-5-5-6-6 stitches) = 39-40-40-40-41-43 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch and cast off for the neck every 2nd row as follows: 3 stitches 1 time, 2 stitches 4 times and 1 stitch 3 times = 25-26-26-27-27-29 shoulder-stitches. Continue working until the piece measures 39-41-43-45-47-49 cm. Cast off. BACK PIECE: = 92-100-108-120-132-148 stitches. Continue back and forth with stocking stitch and cast off on each side for the armholes, every 2nd row: 3 stitches 0-0-0-1-1-2 times, 2 stitches 1-2-3-4-5-6 times and 1 stitch 1-2-3-3-6-7 times = 86-88-90-92-94-98 stitches. When the piece measures 37-39-41-43-45-47 cm, cast off the middle 34-34-36-36-38-38 stitches for the neck line and finish each shoulder separately. Cast off 1 stitch on the next row from the neck = 25-26-26-27-27-29 shoulder-stitches. Work until the piece measures 39-41-43-45-47-49 cm. Cast off. Work the other shoulder in the same way. SLEEVES: Cast on 80-84-96-112-120-128 stitches with double pointed needles size 2.5 mm. Work A.1 in the round for 2-2-2-3-3-3 cm. Change to needle size 3.5 mm, knit 1 round and decrease 10-7-12-14-15-16 stitches evenly spaced = 70-77-84-98-105-112 stitches. Insert 1 marker-thread at the beginning of the round. Work A.3 until the sleeve measures 18-18-17-17-16-15 cm – adjust so that the next round is an odd round in the diagram. On the next round cast off 6-6-8-8-10-10 stitches under the sleeve (i.e., 3-3-4-4-5-5 stitches on each side of the marker-thread) = 64-71-76-90-95-102 stitches. Work back and forth with circular needle with pattern as before and cast off for the sleeve cap at the beginning of each row on each side as follows: 2 stitches 3-4-4-4-4-5 times and 1 stitch 6-7-9-9-12-12 times = 40-41-42-56-55-58 stitches. Then cast off 2 stitches on each side until the sleeve measures 26-27-27-28-29-29 cm. Cast off 3 stitches on each side. Cast off. The sleeve measures approx. 27-28-28-29-30-30 cm. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams. Sew the sleeves to the armholes. Sew the buttons onto the left band. NECK: Using needle size 2.5 mm, knit up from the right side 118-134 stitches along the neckline (including the stitches from the threads). Work 3 ridges – see GARTER STITCH above. Cast off with knit from the right side. |
