Habe brushed alpaca silk in schwarz verstrickt, Hände schwarz verfärbt.

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge = knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagram A.1. The diagram shows all rows in the pattern from the right side. CHANGING STRANDS: To make a neat join when changing the Delight strand, it is important to find a ball which starts with the same colour as the end of the previous ball. DECREASE TIP-1 (evenly spaced): To work out how to decrease evenly, count the total number of stitches on needle (e.g. 104 stitches) minus the edge stitches (e.g. 2 stitches) and divide the remaining stitches by the number of decreases to be made (e.g. 44) = 2.3. In this example decrease by knitting together alternately each 1st and 2nd stitch and each 2nd and 3rd stitch (approx.). DECREASE TIP-2 (neck): All decreases are worked from the right side! Decrease as follows before the neck: Work until there are 6 stitches left before the neck, knit 2 together, work to the end of the row as before (= 1 stitch decreased). Decrease as follows after the neck: Work the first 4 stitches as before, slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (= 1 stitch decreased) INCREASE TIP (sleeves): Increase 1 stitch inside the 1 edge stitch on each side by making 1 yarn over. On the next row purl the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. CASTING-OFF TIP: To avoid the cast-off edge being tight you can cast off with a larger size needle. If the edge is still tight, make 1 yarn over after approx. each 4th stitch at the same time as casting off; the yarn overs are cast off as normal stitches. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The back and front pieces and the sleeves are worked back and forth and sewn together to finish. The neck is worked in the round with short circular needle. The back piece is 6 cm longer than the front piece. Different numbers of stitches are cast on for the back and front pieces to avoid the rib on the back piece being tight. BACK PIECE: Cast on 104-116-132-140-152-164 stitches with circular needle size 5 mm and 1 strand of each quality (= 2 strands). Work rib from the right side as follows: 1 edge stitch in GARTER STITCH – read description above, work A.1 until there are 3 stitches left, work the first 2 stitches in A.1 so the pattern is symmetrical, and finish with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Continue this pattern back and forth for 18 cm. Work 1 row from the right side where you decrease 44-51-61-63-67-72 stitches evenly spaced – read DECREASE TIP-1, cast on 1 stitch at the end of the row (= edge stitch) = 61-66-72-78-86-93 stitches. Change to circular needle size 7 mm. Work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, purl to end of row and cast on 1 stitch (= 1 edge stitch) = 62-67-73-79-87-94 stitches. Continue back and forth with stocking stitch and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch on each side. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When the piece measures 41-42-43-44-45-46 cm from the cast-on edge, cast off stitches for the armholes as follows: Cast off 2-2-3-4-5-6 stitches 1 time and 1 stitch 0-1-2-3-4-5 times on each side = 58-61-63-65-69-72 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch and 1 edge stitch on each side until the piece measures 58-60-62-64-66-68 cm. Now cast off the middle 20-21-23-23-23-24 stitches for the neck and finish each shoulder separately. Then cast of 1 stitch on the next row from the neck = 18-19-19-20-22-23 stitches on the shoulder. Continue working until the piece measures 60-62-64-66-68-70 cm. Cast off. Work the other shoulder in the same way. FRONT PIECE: Cast on 92-100-112-120-132-144 stitches with circular needle size 5 mm and 1 strand of each quality (= 2 strands). Work rib from the right side as follows: 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, A.1 until there are 3 stitches left, work the first 2 stitches in A.1 so the pattern is symmetrical and finish with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Continue this rib back and forth for 12 cm. Work 1 row from the right side where you decrease 32-35-41-43-47-52 stitches evenly spaced, cast on 1 stitch at the end of the row (= edge stitch) = 61-66-72-78-86-93 stitches. Change to circular needle size 7 mm. Work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, purl to end of row and cast on 1 stitch (= 1 edge stitch)= 62-67-73-79-87-94 stitches. Continue back and forth with stocking stitch and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch on each side. When the piece measures 35-36-37-38-39-40 cm from the cast-on edge, cast off stitches for the armholes as follows: Cast off 2-2-3-4-5-6 stitches 1 time and 1 stitch 0-1-2-3-4-5 times on each side = 58-61-63-65-69-72 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch on each side until the piece measures 46-48-49-51-52-54 cm. Now place the middle 12-13-15-15-15-16 stitches on a thread for the neck and finish each shoulder separately. Continue and decrease stitches for the neck on each row from the right side – read DECREASE TIP-2. Decrease like this a total of 5 times = 18-19-19-20-22-23 stitches on the shoulder. Continue working until the piece measures 54-56-58-60-62-64 cm. Cast off. Work the other shoulder in the same way. SLEEVES: Cast on 58-62-62-66-66-70 stitches (including 1 edge stitch on each side) with circular needle size 5 mm and 1 strand of each quality (= 2 strands). Work rib from the right side as follows: 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, A.1 until there is 1 stitch left and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Continue this rib for 10 cm. Work 1 row from the right side where you decrease 18-21-19-21-21-24 stitches evenly spaced = 40-41-43-45-45-46 stitches. Change to circular needle size 7 mm. Purl 1 row with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch on each side. Continue back and forth with stocking stitch and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch on each side. When the sleeve measures 16 cm, increase 1 stitch on each side – read INCREASE TIP. Increase like this every 14-14-9-9-5-3½ cm a total of 2-3-4-4-6-7 times = 44-47-51-53-57-60 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 48-48-47-46-43-42 cm (shorter measurements in larger sizes due to wider shoulders and longer sleeve cap). Work a small sleeve cap as follows: Cast off 2-2-3-4-5-6 stitches 1-1-1-1-1-1 time, 0-0-0-1-1-1 stitch 0-0-0-1-2-3 times and 4-5-3-2-2-2 stitches 1-1-2-2-2-2 times on each side = 32-33-33-35-35-34 stitches. Cast off the remaining stitches. The sleeve measures 50-50-51-51-50-50 cm. Work the other sleeve in the same way – make sure the strand colour you start with matches the first sleeve. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams inside the cast-off edge. Sew in the sleeves, inside the 1 edge stitch on the body and the cast-off edge on the sleeves. Sew the side seams from the armholes down to the rib, inside the 1 edge stitch (= 12 cm split on the front piece and 18 cm on the back piece). DOUBLE NECK: Knit up from the right side, inside the 1 edge stitch 80-96 stitches (including the stitches from the thread in front) with short circular needle size 5 mm. The number of stitches must be divisible by 4. Work A.1 in the round for 11 cm. Cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl – read CASTING-OFF TIP. Fold the neck double to the inside and sew down. To avoid the neck being tight and rolling outwards it is important that the seam is elastic. |
