I absolutely love the style of this sweater just as it is. However, I live on the gulf coast of Florida all year round where the weather is mostly warm. Is there a lighter weight yarn, something soft and a bit stretchy, that I can use as a substitute? I don't want anything that will pill either. It's time for me to get back to knitting and this pattern really struck my fancy. Thank you so much!

Hi, I'm knitting size s . Do I cast on my extra stitches on a purl row? If so when I add the stitches, Do i cast on as if I was knitting In plain? Also to make sure I'm doing it correctly, after reaching 46 stitches, I have knitted 29 rows? Kind regards

Dear Mrs Bland, you will cast on new sts at the end of RS rows (= left side when worn) and at the end of WS rows (= right side when worn). Work all new sts in stocking st. Happy knitting!

I love your patterns as they are much more exciting than most others. However, I am struggling with the shaping at the start of this pattern. Can you explain how to do the uneven increases please? I've tried and ended up with a piece 20cm long instead of 12cm!

En utrolig sød, smart og lidt fræk model som jeg glæder mig meget til at give i kast med! Den ser heller ikke ud til at være alt for indviklet for en nybegynder som mig:)

Knitting tension: 13 sts x 18 rows on needle size 8mm in stocking stitch = 10 x 10 cm Pattern: 1st row: *K2 tog, yo*, repeat from *-* until 1 st left. Knit this in garter st. Repeat this row, i.e. knit pattern on all rows. Measuring tips: Because of the weight of the yarn, all measurements should be made while the garment is hanging. Front piece: Read all of this section before knitting it. Cast on 3 sts on needle size 8 with Symphony or Melody and knit stocking st, at the same time casting on new sts each side on every other row as follows: Right side (when worn): 1 st a total of 8-7-7-6-8 times 2 sts a total of 2-3-3-5-2 times 4 sts a total of 1-0-2-2-2 times 6 sts a total of 0-1-0-0-1 times Left side (when worn): 1 st a total of 4-4-5-4-3 times 2 sts a total of 4-2-2-2-4 times 3 sts a total of 1-1-0-2-2 times 4 sts a total of 1-3-3-4-0 times 6 sts a total of 0-1-2-0-3 times 8 sts a total of 1-0-0-1-1 times After all increases have been made there are 46-51-57-65-72 sts on needle and piece measures approx 12-12-13-14-14 cm. Insert a marking thread and measure piece from this point from now on. When piece measures 6 cm, inc 1 st each on every 6 cm a total of 4 times = 54-59-65-73-80 sts. When piece measures 28-29-30-31-32 cm – see Measuring tips - cast off for armhole each side on every other row as follows: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 0-1-2-3-4 times and 1 st 1-1-1-2-3 times = 46-47-49-51-52 sts. When piece measures 37-38-39-41-42 cm cast off the middle 4-5-5-7-8 sts for neck. Now dec for neckline on every other row as follows: 2 sts 2 times, 1 st 2 times = 15-15-16-16-16 sts left on each shoulder. Cast off when piece measures 46-48-50-52-54 cm. Back piece: Cast on and knit as front piece. Cast off for armhole as described for front piece and continue until piece measures 44-46-48-50-52 cm. Now cast off the middle 14-15-15-17-18 for neck, and dec 1 st on neckline on next row = 15-15-16-16-16 sts left on each shoulder. Cast off when piece measures 46-48-50-52-54 cm. Sleeve: Cast on 29-29-31-31-33 sts on needle size 8 with Symphony or Melody. Knit 4 rows garter st (1st row = wrong side) and continue in pattern (see explanation above). When piece measures 16 cm (adjust so that next row is knitted from the right side) knit 4 rows garter st and continue in stocking st. At the same time, when piece measures 18 cm inc 1 st each side on every 3.5-2.5-2.5-2-1.5 cm a total of 6-8-8-10-11 times = 41-45-47-51-55 sts. When piece measures 38-38-38-38-37 cm cast off for sleeve cap each side on every other row as follows: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 1-1-2-2-2 times, 1 st 1-1-2-2-3 times, and then 2 sts each side until piece measures 45-45-46-47-47 cm, now dec 3 sts each side and cast off remaining sts on next row, piece measures approx 46-46-47-48-48 cm. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Sew side and sleeve seams and set in sleeves. Crochet border: Crochet along bottom edges and round neckline using crochet hook size 7 with Symphony or Melody as follows: 1 dc in first st, *1 ch, skip 1 st, 1 dc in next st*, repeat from *-* and finish with 1 ch and 1 sl st in first dc. NB! The border should be even and not wavy. |
