I’m sorry but I’m confused as to the increase instructions on the raglan. I’ve done the first increase as per instructions but do not understand the raglan increase instructions above. Is there a way to explain that another way? I’ve done the sjobris sweater on your site and the increase instructions were clearer for me. Thank you for your help!

Hi Daria, The raglan increases are on each side of the 5 stocking stitches on each raglan line. Make 1 yarn over before these 5 stitches and 1 yarn over after these 5 stitches. You have 2 increases by each raglan line x 4 = 8 increased stitches on the round. Work 1 round without increasing, knitting the yarn overs to leave holes, then work the next set of raglan increases on the next round. Repeat the increases the required number of times. Hope this helps and happy knitting!

Knitted jumper with raglan in DROPS Andes. Worked top down. Size: S - XXXL
DROPS 205-35 |

---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- INCREASE TIP (evenly): To calculate how to increase evenly, use the total number of stitches on row (e.g. 48 stitches) and divide stitches by number of increases to be done (e.g. 4) = 12. In this example increase by making 1 yarn over after every 12th stitch. On next round work yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. RAGLAN: Increase 1 stitch on each side of 5 stitches in stocking stitch (raglan line) in every transition between body and sleeves (= 8 stitches increased on round). Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over. On next round knit yarn-overs (= holes). Then work the new stitches in stocking stitch. PATTERN: See diagram A.1. CAST OFF TIP: To avoid a tight cast-off edge you may use a needle ½ size larger. DECREASE TIP (applies to sleeves): Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker thread and knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread is between these stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Work neck edge, yoke and body in the round on circular needle from mid back, top down. Work sleeves in the round on double pointed needles/a short circular needle, top down. NECK EDGE: Cast on 48-51-54-57-60-63 stitches on circular needle size 7 mm with Andes. Knit 1 round. Then work rib (= knit 1/purl 2) in the round for 4 cm. Knit 1 round while increasing 4-5-6-3-8-5 stitches evenly - read INCREASE TIP = 52-56-60-60-68-68 stitches. Switch to circular needle size 8 mm. Then work yoke as explained below. NOW MEASURE THE PIECE FROM HERE! YOKE: Work first round as follows: Work 5-6-7-7-9-9 stitches in stocking stitch (= half back piece), make 1 yarn over, work 5 stitches in stocking stitch (= raglan line), make 1 yarn over, work 6 stitches in stocking stitch (= sleeve), make 1 yarn over, work 5 stitches in stocking stitch (= raglan line), make 1 yarn over, work 10-12-14-14-18-18 stitches in stocking stitch (= front piece), make 1 yarn over, work 5 stitches in stocking stitch (= raglan line), make 1 yarn over, work 6 stitches in stocking stitch (= sleeve), make 1 yarn over, work 5 stitches in stocking stitch (= raglan line), make 1 yarn over and finish with 5-6-7-7-9-9 stitches in stocking stitch (= half back piece). First increase for RAGLAN - read explanation above, is now done. Continue in stocking stitch and continue increase for raglan in every transition between body and sleeves. Increase like this every other round until increase has been done 14-16-17-19-19-21 times in total on each side of every raglan line - REMEMBER KNITTING TENSION! After last increase there are 164-184-196-212-220-236 stitches on needle. Continue to work without increases until piece measures 20-22-23-25-27-29 cm from after neck edge, but to make the eyelet row continue along raglan line after increases are done, work A.1 (= 9 stitches) in every transition between body and sleeves until yoke is done (the middle 5 stitches = raglan line). Work next round as follows: Knit 23-26-28-31-33-36 (= half back piece), slip the next 36-40-42-44-44-46 stitches on 1 stitch holder for sleeve, cast on 6-6-6-6-8-8 new stitches on row (= in the side under sleeve), knit 46-52-56-62-66-72 (= front piece), slip the next 36-40-42-44-44-46 stitches on 1 stitch holder for sleeve, cast on 6-6-6-6-8-8 new stitches on row (= in the side under sleeve) and knit the remaining 23-26-28-31-33-36 stitches (= half back piece), MEASURE PIECE FROM HERE! BODY: = 104-116-124-136-148-160 stitches. Continue in stocking stitch. When piece measures 25-25-26-26-26-26 cm from division, knit 1 round while increasing 19-22-23-26-29-32 stitches evenly = 123-138-147-162-177-192 stitches. Switch to circular needle size 7 mm. Work rib in the round = knit 1/purl 2 for 4 cm. Loosely cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl - Read CAST-OFF TIP. SLEEVE: Slip the 36-40-42-44-44-46 stitches from stitch holder in one side of piece on a short circular needle size 8 mm and pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-6-6-8-8 new stitches cast on in the side under sleeve = 42-46-48-50-52-54 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread in the middle of the 6-6-6-6-8-8 stitches under sleeve and begin round here. Work in stocking stitch in the round. When piece measures 2 cm, decrease 2 stitches mid under sleeve - read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every other round 2 times in total = 38-42-44-46-48-50 stitches. Then decrease like this every 7-4½-4½-3½-3-3 cm 5-7-7-8-8-8 times in total = 28-28-30-30-32-34 stitches. Work until piece measures 38-36-36-34-32-31 cm from division (or desired length, approx. 5 cm remain until finished measurements- NOTE: Shorter measurements in the larger sizes because of wider neck and longer yoke). Knit 1 round while increasing 5-5-6-6-7-8 stitches evenly = 33-33-36-36-39-42 stitches. Switch to double pointed needles size 7 mm and work rib in the round = knit 1/purl 2 for 5 cm. Loosely cast off stitches with knit over knit and purl over purl. Work the other sleeve the same way. |
