Stunning yoke detailing - at the same time very graphic/modern and also very organic looking! Love the puff sleeve too. A lot of your a/w 2019 patterns seem to be influenced by the new scandinavian/nordic designers & I love it! I knit a lot in this style but mostly use Drops yarns and get gorgeous results, so really happy to see a lot of your new designs in this vein...!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge in height = Knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. Choose diagram for your size. The diagrams show all rows in the pattern seen from the right side! INCREASE/DECREASE TIP (evenly spaced): To work out how to increase/decrease evenly, count the total number of stitches on needle (e.g. 259 stitches), minus the bands (e.g. 10 stitches) and divide the remaining 249 stitches with the number of increases/decreases to be made (e.g. 10) = 24.9. In this example, increase by making 1 yarn over after approx. each 25th stitch. Do not increase over the bands. On the next row work the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. When decreasing, knit together approx. each 24th and 25th stitch. DECREASE TIP (for mid under sleeve): Start 3 stitches before the marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (= 2 stitches decreased). INCREASE TIP (for mid under sleeve): Start 2 stitches before the marker thread, make 1 yarn over, knit 4 (marker thread sits between these 4 stitches), make 1 yarn over (= 2 stitches increased). On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in stocking stitch. KNITTING TIP (for sleeve length): The length of the sleeves can be adjusted as described in the text but be aware that the sleeve length is slightly longer than usual, to make the sleeves a little baggy at the bottom. BUTTONHOLES: Work buttonholes on the right band (when the garment is worn). Work from the right side when there are 3 stitches left on the row as follows: Make 1 yarn over, knit 2 together and knit 1. On the next row (wrong side), knit the yarn over to leave a hole. The first buttonhole is worked when the rib on the neck measures approx. 1½-2 cm. Then the other 5-5-6-6-7-7 buttonholes are worked with approx. 9½-10-8½-9-8-8 cm between each one. CASTING OFF TIP: To avoid the cast-off edge being tight you can cast off with a larger size needle; or make 1 yarn over after approx. each 6th stitch at the same time as casting off (yarn overs cast off as normal stitches). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JACKET – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The neck and yoke are worked back and forth with circular needle from mid front, top down. The yoke is divided for body and sleeves. The body is continued back and forth with circular needle. The sleeves are worked in the round with double pointed needles/short circular needle, top down. The whole garment is worked with 1 strand Alpaca and 1 strand Kid-Silk (= 2 strands). NECK: Cast on 89-95-98-101-107-110 stitches (including 5 band stitches on each side towards mid front) with circular needle size 4 mm and 1 strand Alpaca + 1 strand Kid-Silk (= 2 strands). Purl 1 row (= wrong side). The next row is worked as follows from the right side: 5 band stitches in GARTER STITCH – read description above, * knit 1, purl 2 *, work from *-* until there are 6 stitches left on the row, knit 1 and finish with 5 band stitches in garter stitch. Continue this rib – remember BUTTONHOLES on right band – read description above. When the rib measures 3-3-3-4-4-4 cm work the next row as follows from the right side: S, M and L: Work 5 band stitches in garter stitch, * knit 1, 1 yarn over, purl 2, 1 yarn over *, work from *-* until there are 6 stitches left on the row, knit 1 and finish with 5 band stitches in garter stitch = 141-151-156 stitches on the needle. XL, XXL and XXXL: Work 5 band stitches in garter stitch, * knit 1, 1 yarn over, purl 1, 1 yarn over, purl 1, 1 yarn over *, work from *-* until there are 6 stitches left on the row, knit 1 and finish with 5 band stitches in garter stitch = 191-203-209 stitches on the needle. ALL SIZES: Work back from the wrong side with garter stitch over garter stitch, purl over purl and knit over knit (yarn overs are knitted twisted to avoid holes). Insert 1 marker on the row. Work the yoke as described below and measure it from the marker. YOKE: Change to circular needle size 5 mm. Work the first row as follows from the right side: 5 band stitches in garter stitch, A.1A until there are 6 stitches left on the row (= 26-28-29-30-32-33 repeats of 5-5-5-6-6-6 stitches), work A.1B (= 1 stitch) and finish with 5 band stitches in garter stitch. Continue this pattern. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When the piece measures 8-9-10-10-11-11 cm from the marker on the neck, work the next row from the right side as follows: 5 band stitches in garter stitch, continue A.1A over the first 5-5-5-6-6-6 stitches, work A.2 until there are 6 stitches left on the row (= 25-27-28-29-31-32 repeats of 5-5-5-6-6-6 stitches), continue A.1B (= 1 stitch) and finish with 5 band stitches in garter stitch. When A.2 has been completed in height there are 241-259-268-307-327-337 stitches on the needle. The next row is worked as follows from the right side: 5 band stitches in garter stitch, continue A.1A over the first 5-5-5-6-6-6 stitches, work A.3 until there are 6 stitches left on the row (= 25-27-28-29-31-32 repeats of 9-9-9-10-10-10 stitches), continue A.1B (= 1 stitch) and finish with 5 band stitches in garter stitch. Continue this pattern until the piece measures approx. 18-20-22-22-24-25 cm from the marker on the neck. Knit 1 row from the right side where you increase 4-10-21-6-6-20 stitches evenly spaced – read INCREASE/DECREASE TIP = 245-269-289-313-333-357 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch back and forth (knit from the right side and purl from the wrong side) with 5 band stitches in garter stitch on each side towards mid front. When the piece measures 19-21-23-24-26-28 cm from the marker on the neck, divide the yoke for body and sleeves; i.e. on the next row from the wrong side work as follows: Work 41-44-47-51-55-60 stitches in garter stitch and stocking stitch as before (= front piece), place the next 46-52-56-60-62-64 stitches on 1 thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-8-10-10 new stitches on the needle (= in side under sleeve), work 71-77-83-91-99-109 stitches in stocking stitch (= back piece), place the next 46-52-56-60-62-64 stitches on 1 thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-8-10-10 new stitches on the needle (= in side under sleeve) and work the remaining 41-44-47-51-55-60 stitches in stocking stitch and garter stitch as before (= front piece). Body and sleeves are finished separately. THE PIECE IS NOW MEASURED FROM HERE! BODY: = 165-177-193-209-229-249 stitches. Work stocking stitch back and forth with 5 band stitches in garter stitch on each side until the piece measures 27 cm from the division (there is now approx. 5 cm left to finished length; you can try the jacket on and work to desired length if necessary). Knit 1 row from the right side where you decrease 4-4-5-3-5-4 stitches evenly spaced – remember INCREASE/DECREASE TIP = 161-173-188-206-224-245 stitches. Change to circular needle size 4 mm and work the next row from the wrong side as follows: 5 band stitches in garter stitch, * purl 1, knit 2 *, work from *-* until there are 6 stitches left on the row, purl 1 and finish with 5 band stitches in garter stitch. Continue this rib for 5 cm. Cast off with garter stitch over garter stitch, knit over knit and purl over purl – read CASTING-OFF TIP! The jacket measures approx. 54-56-58-60-62-64 cm from the shoulder down. SLEEVE: Place the 46-52-56-60-62-64 stitches from the thread on the one side of the piece on double pointed needles or short circular needle size 5 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-8-8-10-10 stitches cast on under the sleeve = 52-58-64-68-72-74 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread in the middle of the 6-6-8-8-10-10 stitches under the sleeve and allow it to follow your work onwards; it will be used when decreasing/increasing mid under the sleeve. Start the round at the marker thread and work stocking stitch in the round. When the sleeve measures 3-3-2-2-2-2 cm from the division, decrease 2 stitches mid under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 3-2-1½-1-1-1 cm a total of 4-6-8-9-10-10 times = 44-46-48-50-52-54 stitches. When the piece measures 16-16-16-15-15-15 cm, increase 2 stitches mid under sleeve – read INCREASE TIP. Increase like this every 1½-1½-1½-1-1-1 cm a total of 15 times in all sizes = 74-76-78-80-82-84 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 42-40-39-37-35-34 cm from the division (there is now approx. 6 cm left to finished length; you can try the jacket on and work to desired length if necessary – read KNITTING TIP). NOTE: Shorter measurements in larger sizes due to wider neck and longer yoke. Knit 1 round where you decrease 2-4-0-2-4-0 stitches evenly spaced = 72-72-78-78-78-84 stitches. On the next round knit all stitches together 2 and 2 = 36-36-39-39-39-42 stitches. Change to double pointed needles size 4 mm and work rib in the round (= knit 1/ purl 2) for 5 cm. Cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl – remember CASTING-OFF TIP! The sleeve measures approx. 48-46-45-43-41-40 cm from the division. Work the other sleeve in the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew the buttons onto the left band. |
