For size Small, at the end of A2, there are 3+8x(27+5)+2 = 266 stitches. There should be 288 stitches. Where do I insert the 22 stitches? When A.2 has been worked up to arrow for correct size, there are 252-288-306-324-340-360-380 stitches on needle. There are 23-27-29-31-29-31-33 stitches in each repetition of A.2.

I am knitting the size XS for the yoke it says to do A2 and A1 in total 8 times. However, that would only be 80sts and I have 90 as instructed
18.04.2026 - 23:12DROPS Design answered:
Dear Milla, work the 90 stitches as follows: start with the last 3 stitches A.1, then repeat a total of 8 times (5 sts A.2 (on first row, increased to 7 on this row, 5 sts A.1), now work one more time A.2 and finish with the first 2 stitches A.1, so that you will have: 3 + (8x(5+5) + 5 + 2=90 sts. Happy knitting!

---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------ PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. SLEEVE TIP: When picking up stitches mid under sleeve, there will be a small hole in the transition between stitches on body and sleeves. The holes can be closed by picking up the strand between two stitches - work this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve to close the hole. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread is in the middle of these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed. Work neck edge and yoke in the round on circular needle from mid back, work top down with increases for round yoke. When yoke is done, divide piece for body and sleeves. Work body downwards in the round on circular needle while putting the sleeves aside. Then work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. NECK EDGE: Cast on 90-90-90-90-100-100-100 stitches on circular needle size 3.5 mm with 1 strand DROPS Nord and 1 strand DROPS Kid-Silk (= 2 strands). Work rib in the round (= knit 1/purl 1) for 3-3-3-3-4-4-4 cm. Beginning of round is mid back, insert 1 marker here. YOKE: Then work in PATTERN - read explanation above. NOTE! To get a whole repetition of A.2 mid front on jumper, the round begins in the middle of a repetition. Make sure to get correct number and yarn overs and decreases in the repetition mid back - the number of yarn overs and decreases should be the same on each side of mid back, otherwise the pattern will be displaced. SIZE XS-S-M-L: Switch to circular needle size 4.5 mm and work as follows: Work the 3 last stitches in A.1, *A.2, A.1 *, work from *-* 8-8-8-8 times in total, work A.2 and finish with the first 2 stitches in A.1 Continue pattern like this. SIZE XL-XXL-XXXL: Switch to circular needle size 4.5 mm and work as follows: Work the 3 last stitches in A.2, * A.1, A.2 *, work from *-* 9-9-9 times in total, work A.1 and finish with the first 2 stitches in A.2. Continue pattern like this. ALL SIZES: Remember to follow the knitting tension! When A.2 has been worked up to arrow for correct size, there are 252-288-306-324-340-360-380 stitches on needle. There are 23-27-29-31-29-31-33 stitches in each repetition of A.2. ONLY APPLIES TO SIZE XS and XL: In size XS and XL work 2-1 repetitions of A.3 vertically (= without increases) over A.2, continue the remaining stitches as before. ALL SIZES: Continue with stocking stitch, on first round adjust number of stitches to 258-282-306-330-346-366-386 stitches. Work until piece measures 19-20-21-23-24-25-26 cm, measured from marker after rib. Remember to follow the knitting tension! DIVIDING FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: AT THE SAME TIME as next round is worked divide yoke for body and sleeves as follows: Work 39-43-45-49-52-57-61 stitches as before (= approx. half back piece), slip the next 52-56-64-68-70-70-72 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-8-10-12-14 new stitches on the needle (= in the side mid under sleeve), work 77-85-89-97-103-113-121 stitches as before (= back piece), slip the next 52-56-64-68-70-70-72 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-8-10-12-14 new stitches on the needle (= in the side mid under sleeve), and work the last 38-42-44-48-51-56-60 stitches as before (= approx. half back piece). Finish body and sleeves separately. BODY: = 166-182-194-210-226-250-270 stitches. Work stocking stitch until piece measures 43-45-47-49-49-51-53 cm from marker mid back. Switch to circular needles size 3.5 mm, work rib (= knit 1/purl 1) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 18-18-22-22-26-26-30 stitches evenly on 1st round = 184-200-216-232-252-276-300 stitches. When rib measures 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm, cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl. Jumper measures 47-49-51-53-54-56-58 cm from marker mid front and approx. 52-54-56-58-60-62-64 cm from the shoulder. SLEEVES: Slip 52-56-64-68-70-70-72 sleeve stitches from one thread on to circular needle size 4.5 mm and pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-8-8-10-12-14 stitches cast on under sleeve - read SLEEVE TIP = 58-62-72-76-80-82-86 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread in the middle of the 6-6-8-8-10-12-14 new stitches under sleeve - round begins at the marker thread. Work in stocking stitch in the round on needle - AT THE SAME TIME when 1 round has been worked after division, decrease mid under sleeve – read DECREASE TIP and decrease as follows: Decrease 2 stitches 2 times on every other round, then decrease 2 stitches every 3½ cm 2-3-7-8-9-9-10 times in total = 50-52-54-56-58-60-62 stitches on needle. Work until sleeve measures 44-44-44-43-41-41-41 cm from division. Switch to double pointed needles size 3.5 mm and work rib (= knit 1/purl 1) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 6 stitches evenly on 1st round = 56-58-60-62-64-66-68 stitches. When rib measures 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm, cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl. Sleeve measures approx. 48-48-48-47-46-46-46 cm from division. |
