I am knitting the S size but am confused with the sleeve. You write: after 1cm from division(76st) decrease 2st twice every other row (72st). Then decrease 2st every 7cm seven times (58st). This means I’ve knitted more then 50cm (1 cm + the first two times decreases + (7x7=) 49cm). But you tell me to knit for 43cm. You’ve answered Brenda the same question saying to start with decrease once and then 6 more times. But you start after the first 2 decreases (76 to 72 st). ??
23.08.2026 - 01:56DROPS Design answered:
Hi Boelo, The first of the 7 decreases starts on the 2nd row after the first 2 decreases, then 6 x 7 = 42. The sleeve length can be adjusted by decreasing the length between the decreases if you wish. All our length-measurements are approximate. Regards, Drops Team.

I'm knitting a size S jumper and I'm confused by the sleeves. You say "... then decrease 2 stitches every 7 cm 7 times in total = 58 stitches on needle. Work until sleeve measures 43cm from division." But 7 decreases x every 7cm will give me a minimum sleeve length of 49cm. Is this an error. The other sizes look like they make sense.
08.07.2026 - 16:50DROPS Design answered:
Hi Brendan, You decrease once, then have 6 more decreases x 7cm = 42 cm. Regards, Drops Team.

This pattern is confusing. I am just starting the yoke. I get the increases for the Raglan but what does this mean 'Work in stockinette stitch and 3rd round in A.1'? There are 2 rows of pattern-is 3rd round in A1 the 8sts k,pp,k,pp,k pattern?
26.05.2026 - 06:46DROPS Design answered:
Dear Sandra, when working A.1 you first work (K1, P2, K2, P2, K1) = row 1; but then yuou will have to decrease the number of sts in A.1 for the raglan, so that on this round you will work (K1, P2 tog, K2, P2 tog, K1) = 6 sts remain in each A.1, then repeat 3rd row A.1 = (K1, P1, K2, P1, K1). Happy knitting!

---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagram A.1. First round in diagram shows how the pattern will look when the markers for raglan are placed - begin by working from 2nd round where stitches are decreased. Then repeat the last round in A.1 until increase for raglan is finished. RAGLAN: Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over, on next round knit yarns over as explained below: AFTER MARKER: Knit yarn overs in back loop of stitches to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in stocking stitch. BEFORE MARKER: Slip stitch off left needle and put it back on left needle but the opposite way (insert left needle in from behind when slipping it back on needle). Knit yarn overs in front loop of stitches to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in stocking stitch. SLEEVE TIP: When picking up stitches mid under sleeve, there will be a small hole in the transition between stitches on body and sleeves. The holes can be closed by picking up the strand between two stitches - work this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve to close the hole. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread is between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed. Work neck edge and yoke in the round on circular needle from right shoulder back, and work top down. When yoke is done, divide piece for body and sleeves. Work body downwards in the round on circular needle while putting the sleeves aside. Then work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. NECK EDGE: Cast on 96-104-104-112-120-120-128 stitches on circular needle size 3 mm with DROPS Karisma or DROPS Merino Extra Fine. Knit 3 rounds in stocking stitch (= rolling edge), then work rib as follows: Knit 1, work rib (= purl 2/knit 2) until 3 stitches remain, purl 2 and knit 1. Work rib like this for 3-3-3-4-4-4-5 cm. Beginning of round is at right shoulder at the back. Insert 1 marker after the first 38-40-40-44-46-46-48 stitches on round (= approx. mid front), measure piece from this marker. YOKE: Insert 8 new markers in piece without working the stitches, insert markers on each side of 8 stitches, these 8 stitches are called raglan stitches and the stitches should fit pattern on first row in A.1 - read PATTERN in explanation above, increase is done for raglan on each side of raglan stitches. Insert 1 marker at beginning of round, count 8-8-8-8-8-8-8 stitches (= raglan stitches / A.1), insert 2nd marker before next stitch, count 12-12-12-16-16-16-16 stitches (= sleeve), insert 3rd marker before next stitch, count 8-8-8-8-8-8-8 stitches (= raglan stitches / A.1), insert 4th marker in next stitch, count 20-24-24-24-28-28-32 stitches (= front piece), insert 5th marker in next stitch, count 8-8-8-8-8-8-8 stitches (= raglan stitches / A.1), insert 6th marker in next stitch, count 12-12-12-16-16-16-16 stitches (= sleeve), insert 7th marker before next stitch, count 8-8-8-8-8-8-8 stitches (= raglan stitches / A.1), insert 8th marker in next stitch, 20-24-24-24-28-28-32 stitches remain after last marker (= back piece). Switch to circular needle size 4 mm and work first round as follows, begin from right shoulder at the back: Work 2nd round in A.1, work 12-12-12-16-16-16-16 stitches in stocking stitch while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 2-2-2-2-2-2-2 stitches evenly over these stitches (= sleeve), work 2nd round in A.1, work 20-24-24-24-28-28-32 stitches in stocking stitch while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 2-2-2-2-4-6-8 stitches evenly over these stitches (= 22-26-26-26-32-34-40 stitches for front piece), work 2nd round in A.1, work 12-12-12-16-16-16-16 stitches in stocking stitch while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 2-2-2-2-2-2-2 stitches evenly over these stitches (= sleeve), work 2nd round in A.1, work 20-24-24-24-28-28-36 stitches in stocking stitch while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 2-2-2-2-4-6-8 stitches evenly over these stitches (= 22-26-26-26-32-34-40 stitches for back piece) = 96-104-104-112-124-128-140 stitches on row. Work in the round in stocking stitch and repeat 3rd round in A.1 onwards - AT THE SAME TIME increase for RAGLAN on each side of raglan stitches / A.1 as explained below - read explanation above on how to increase. RAGLAN: ROUND 1: Work in stocking stitch and 3rd round in A.1, increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitches / A.1(= 8 stitches increased). NOTE! At the beginning of round increase after 2nd marker and at the end of round increase before 1. marker. ROUND 2: Work in stocking stitch and 3rd round in A.1. Work 1st and 2nd ROUND 12-17-20-15-16-13-13 times (= 24-34-40-30-32-26-26 rounds have been worked) = 192-240-264-232-252-232-244 stitches on needle. Remember to follow the knitting tension! Then work and increase as follows: ROUND 1: Work in stocking stitch and 3rd round in A.1, increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitches (= 8 stitches increased). ROUND 2: Work in stocking stitch and 3rd round in A.1. ROUND 3: Work in stocking stitch and 3rd round in A.1 and increase for raglan on front piece and back piece, i.e. increase after 4th and 8th marker and before 5th and 1st marker - do not increase stitches on sleeves (= 4 stitches increased). ROUND 4: Work in stocking stitch and 3rd round in A.1. Work 1st to 4th ROUND 9-7-7-11-11-15-16 times (= 36-28-28-44-44-60-64 rounds worked = 9-7-7-11-11-15-16 increases on sleeves and 18-14-14-22-22-30-32 increases on front piece/back piece) = 300-324-348-364-384-412-436 stitches on needle. All increases for raglan are now done, 30-31-34-37-38-43-45 increases have been done in total on front piece/back piece and 21-24-27-26-27-28-29 increases on sleeves. A.1 is done, work in stocking stitch in the round over all stitches without increasing until piece measures approx. 22-23-25-26-27-31-32 cm from marker mid front. Now divide yoke for body and sleeves. DIVIDING FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: When dividing piece for body and sleeves the raglan stitches will be placed somewhat in on front piece/back piece, i.e. AT THE SAME TIME as next round is worked, divide yoke for body and sleeves as follows: Work 6-6-6-6-6-6-6 stitches in stocking stitch (= belong to back piece), slip the next 56-62-68-70-72-74-76 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 10-14-16-18-20-22-24 new stitches on needle (= in the side mid under sleeve), work 94-100-106-112-120-132-142 stitches in stocking stitch (= front piece), slip the next 56-62-68-70-72-74-76 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 10-14-16-18-20-22-24 new stitches on needle (= in the side mid under sleeve) and work the last 88-94-100-106-114-126-136 stitches in stocking stitch (= back piece). Finish body and sleeves separately. BODY: = 208-228-244-260-280-308-332 stitches. Insert 1 marker in one side of piece (= in the middle of the 10-14-16-18-20-22-24 stitches that were cast on under sleeve). Work until marker, round begins here and work in the round. Work in stocking stitch until piece measures 59-61-63-63-65-67-69 cm from marker mid front. Switch to circular needles size 3 mm and work rib (= knit 2/purl 2) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 40-44-48-52-56-60-64 stitches evenly on 1st round = 248-272-292-312-336-368-396 stitches. When rib measures 4-4-4-5-5-5-5 cm, cast off somewhat loosely with knit over knit and purl over purl. Jumper measures 63-65-67-68-70-72-74 cm from marker mid front and approx. 66-68-70-72-74-76-78 cm from the top of shoulder. SLEEVES: Slip 56-62-68-70-72-74-76 sleeve stitches from one thread on to circular needle size 4 mm and pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 10-14-16-18-20-22-24 stitches cast on under sleeve - read SLEEVE TIP = 66-76-84-88-92-96-100 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 10-14-16-18-20-22-24 stitches under sleeve - round begins at the marker thread. Work in stocking stitch in the round on needle while AT THE SAME TIME when sleeve measures 1 cm from division, decreasing mid under sleeve – read DECREASE TIP and decrease as follows: Decrease 2 stitches 2-2-2-3-3-3-3 times on every other round, then decrease 2 stitches every 10-6-3½-3½-3-2½-2 cm 3-7-10-10-11-12-13 times in total = 56-58-60-62-64-66-68 stitches on needle. Work until sleeve measures 44-43-42-41-40-37-36 cm from division. Switch to double pointed needles size 3 mm and work rib in the round (= knit 2/purl 2) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 8-10-12-10-12-10-12 stitches evenly on 1st round = 64-68-72-72-76-76-80 stitches. When rib measures 4-4-4-5-5-5-5 cm, cast off somewhat loosely with knit over knit and purl over purl. Sleeve measures approx. 48-47-46-46-45-42-41 cm from division. |
