---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge vertically = knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagram A.1. BUTTONHOLE: Decrease for buttonhole at the beginning of a row from right side. Knit 2 together, make 1 yarn over. On next row knit yarn over to make hole. DECREASE TIP (applies to sleeves): Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread is in the middle of these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern long and short needles have been used, begin with fitting length and switch as needed. First work a neck edge and the top part of yoke back and forth on circular needle to make a vent mid back. Then work the yoke in the round on circular needle from mid back, and work top down. When yoke is done, divide stitches for body and sleeves. Work body downwards in the round on circular needle while putting the sleeves aside. Then work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. NECK EDGE: Cast on 88-96-104-104-108-108 stitches on circular needle size 2.5 mm with DROPS Safran. Work rib as follows from right side: 3 stitches in GARTER STITCH - read explanation above - * knit 2, purl 2 *, work from *-* until 5 stitches remain, knit 2 and 3 stitches in garter stitch. When piece measures approx. 1½ cm, decrease for BUTTONHOLE - see explanation above. Continue rib back and forth like this for 2½ to 3 cm, adjust after a row from wrong side. Insert 1 marker after the first 44-48-52-52-54-54 stitches on round (= approx. mid front), measures piece from this marker. YOKE: Switch to circular needle size 3.5 mm. Work back and forth with 3 stitches in garter stitch in each side, work the remaining stitches in stocking stitch. Work like this for 2 cm (measured after neck edge), finish with a row from right side, and finish when 3 stitches remain on needle, slip these 3 stitches on a stitch holder. Now put the piece together in both side so that you can work in the round, this is done as follows: Slip the 3 stitches from stitch holder behind the 3 stitches in garter stitch at the beginning of row from right side, knit first stitch together with first stitch from stitch holder, knit second stitch together with second stitch from stitch holder and knit third stitch together with third stitch from stitch holder, then knit the rest of round. Knit 1 round and decrease 1-2-3-3-0-0 stitches evenly = 84-91-98-98-105-105 stitches on needle. Remember to follow the knitting tension! Now work PATTERN - read explanation above, i.e. work A.1 12-13-14-14-15-15 times in total in the round on yoke. Continue pattern like this. When A.1 has been worked, there are 228-247-266-266-285-285 stitches on needle. Repeat the last 6 rounds in diagram until piece measures approx. 12-13-14-15-16-17 cm from marker. Knit 1 round and adjust number of stitches to 232-244-260-264-280-292. Work in stocking stitch until piece measures 13-14-15-16-17-18 cm from marker mid front. Now divide yoke for body and sleeves. DIVIDING FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: AT THE SAME TIME as next round is worked divide yoke for body and sleeves as follows: Work the first 33-35-38-39-42-44 stitches in stocking stitch (= half back piece), slip the next 50-52-54-54-56-58 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 6-6-6-8-8-8 new stitches on row (= in the side mid under sleeve), work 66-70-76-78-84-88 stitches in stocking stitch (= front piece), slip the next 50-52-54-54-56-58 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 6-6-6-8-8-8 new stitches on row (= in the side mid under sleeve) and work the last 33-35-38-39-42-44 stitches in stocking stitch (= half back piece). Finish body and sleeves separately. BODY: = 144-152-164-172-184-192 stitches. Work stocking stitch in the round until piece measures 24-27-28-32-35-37 cm from marker mid front. Switch to circular needle size 2.5 mm, work rib (= knit 2/purl 2) AT THE SAME TIME increase 20-24-24-28-28-28 stitches evenly on 1st round = 164-176-188-200-212-220 stitches. When rib measures 3 cm cast off. Jumper measures approx. 30-33-35-39-42-44 cm from shoulder. SLEEVES: Slip 50-52-54-54-56-58 sleeve stitches from one thread on to circular needle size 3.5 mm and pick in addition up 1 stitches in each of the 6-6-6-8-8-8 stitches cast on under sleeve. = 56-58-60-62-64-66 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread in the middle of the 6-6-6-8-8-8 new stitches under sleeve - round begins at the marker thread. Work in stocking stitch in the round on needle - at the same time when sleeve measures 3 cm from division, decrease mid under sleeve – read DECREASE TIP and decrease as follows: Decrease 2 stitches every 4-5-5½-6½-10-11 cm 5-5-5-5-4-4 times in total = 46-48-50-52-56-58 stitches. Work until sleeve measures 20-24-27-31-35-39 cm from division. Switch to circular needles size 2.5 mm, work rib (= knit 2/purl 2) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 6-8-10-8-8-10 stitches evenly on 1st round = 52-56-60-60-64-68 stitches. When rib measures 3 cm cast off. Sleeve measures approx. 23-27-30-34-38-42 cm from division. ASSEMBLY: Sew button in the vent in the back of neck. |
