For the decrease at the end, I\'m confused with the at the same time comment. Would we decrease in round 9 to 54, knit the 10th round and then do the decrease by half in the next round and so on?
27.11.2024 - 21:40DROPS Design answered:
Dear Jerilyn, you work the 9th round of A.2 decreasing 28 sts evenly = 56 sts left on needle. Then continue working stocking stitch with grey; after you have worked 6 rounds over the 56 sts, decrease by knitting 2 sts together all the round = 28 sts left on needle. Knit 1 round, then Knit 2 sts together around on next round = 14 sts left. Knit 1 round then knit 2 sts together around on next round = 7 sts left. Happy knitting!

INFORMATION FOR PATTERN: PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. Work the entire pattern in stocking stitch. DECREASE/INCREASE TIP: To calculate how to decrease/increase evenly, use the total number of stitches on row (e.g. 112 stitches) and divide stitches by number of decreased/increases to be done (e.g. 4) = 28. I.e. in this example knit approx. every 27th and 28th stitch together when decreasing. When increasing make 1 yarn over after every 28th stitch. On next round knit yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. INCREASE TIP (applies to thumb gusset): Work until stitch with marker, make 1 yarn over, knit 1 (= stitch with marker), make 1 yarn over (= 2 stitches increased). On next round knit yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. On next increase work as follows: Work until 1 stitch remains before stitch with marker, make 1 yarn over, knit 3, make 1 yarn over (= 2 stitches increased). Continue increase every 6th round like this, i.e. always increase on the outside of the increased stitches. ---------------------------------------------------------- HAT: Worked in the round on circular needle, bottom up. Switch to double pointed needles when needed. Cast on 112-116 stitches on circular needle size 3 mm with light pearl grey. Knit 1 round. Then work rib (= knit 2/purl 2) for 3-4 cm. Knit 1 round while decreasing 4 stitches evenly in all sizes - READ DECREASE/INCREASE TIP = 108-112 stitches. Switch to circular needle size 3.5 mm and A.1 in the round (= 27-28 repetitions of 4 stitches). When A.1 has been worked 2 times vertically, work A.2 in the round. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When A.2 has been worked 3 times vertically, work A.2 one more time, but on 2nd round decrease 24-28 stitches evenly = 84 stitches in both sizes. On 9th round in A.2 decrease 28 stitches evenly = 56 stitches. When A.2 has been worked, continue with light pearl grey until finished measurements. AT THE SAME TIME when 6 rounds have been worked with light pearl grey, knit all stitches together 2 by 2 = 28 stitches. Work 1 round without decrease. On next round knit all stitches together 2 by 2 = 14 stitches. Work 1 round without decrease and knit all stitches together 2 by 2 on next round = 7 stitches. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten together and fasten. Piece measures approx. 26-27 cm from top and down. POMPOM: Make a pompom of approx. 6 cm in diameter with light pearl grey. Sew the pompom on the top of the hat. ---------------------------------------------------------- RIGHT WRIST WARMER: Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 52-56 stitches on double pointed needles size 3 mm with light pearl grey. Knit 1 round. Then work rib in the round = knit 2/ purl 2. When rib measures 3-4 cm, knit 1 round while at the same time decreasing 12 stitches evenly - READ DECREASE/INCREASE TIP = 40-44 stitches. Switch to double pointed needles size 3.5 mm and work A.1 in the round. When A.1 has been worked 2 times vertically, work A.2 in the round - repeat A.2 vertically. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 10-11 cm, insert 1 markers in first stitch on round. On next round increase for thumb gusset by increasing 1 stitch on each side of stitch with marker - read INCREASE TIP. Increase like this every 6th round 4 times in total = 48-52 stitches. After last increase piece measures approx. 16-17 cm. Slip the 9 thumb gusset stitch on a stitch holder, continue A.2 and cast in addition on 1 new stitch on needle behind thumb = 40-44 stitches. Work until piece measures approx. 18-19 cm - finish after one whole stripe with light olive (approx. 3-4 cm remain before finished measurements, try the wrist warmer on and work to desired length). Switch to double pointed needles size 3 mm and knit 1 round with light pearl grey while increasing 4 stitches evenly = 44-48 stitches - remember DECREASE/INCREASE TIP. Then work rib in the round = knit 2/purl 2 for 3-4 cm. Cast off stitches with knit over knit and purl over purl. Entire wrist warmer measures approx. 21-23 cm. THUMB: Slip the 9 stitches from stitch holder back on double pointed needles size 3 mm and pick in addition up 7 new stitches behind thumb with light pearl grey = 16 stitches. Knit 1 round (make sure to avoid a tight thumb). Then work rib in the round = knit 2/purl 2 for 3-3½ cm (or desired measurements). Cast off stitches with knit over knit and purl over purl. LEFT WRIST WARMER: Work as right wrist warmer but reversed. I.e. when increasing for thumb gusset insert 1 marker in last stitch on round and increase on each side of this stitch (instead of inserting a marker in first stitch on round). |
