When sleeve is 57 cm. what is the number of stitches left to cast off?
20.05.2018 - 22:53DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Smith, you will bind off at the beg of each row on each side: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 2-3- times and 1 st 3-2 times, then bind off 2 sts at each side until the piece measures 56-56 cm (depending on your tension this can take you more or less rows, just make sure you bind off the same number of sts on each side), then bind off 3 sts 1 time at each side and bind off the remaining sts, the sleeve measures approx. 57-57 cm. Happy knitting!

From Canada. I'm not sure how to work the Back where you cast off stitches each end on knit row after 36 cm (M) and how do I work the middle sts.(26) and then cast off 19 sts for each shoulder after 56 cm.
27.04.2018 - 20:23DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Smith, after 36 cm, bind off at the beginning of each row (= both from RS and from WS): 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 2 times and 1 st 2 times = 9 sts will be bound off on each side, there were 78 sts - 18 sts = 60 sts remain. After 52 cm bind off the middle 18 sts (after 2 ridges over the middle 26 sts) and continue each shoulder separately binding off 1 st 2 times at the beg of each row from neck. Happy knitting!

Why do you only need 350 grams of the safran but 500 grams of the cotton viscose? A quick response would be much appreciated!
05.05.2013 - 00:27DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Tyler, Safran is 160 m for 50 g and Cotton Viscose only 110, that is the reason why you don't need the same amount in balls of both qualities. Happy knitting!

Back piece: Cast on 66-72-80-88-96 sts (incl 1 edge st in each side) with needle size 4.5 mm and 1 strand of each quality (= 2 strands) and work 1 ridge garter st. Change to needle size 5.5 mm and continue with stocking st. Remember knitting tension! When piece measures 10 cm inc 1 st in each side every 10 cm in total 3 times = 72-78-86-94-102 sts. When piece measures 35-36-37-38-39 cm cast off for armholes in each side every 2nd row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 1-2-3-4-5 times and 1 sts 2-2-3-5-6 times = 58-60-62-62-64 sts. When piece measures 50-52-54-56-58 cm work 2 ridges across middle 24-26-26-26-28 sts. Then cast off middle 16-18-18-18-20 sts for neck. Continue to dec on each side of neck every 2nd row – see Decrease tip: 1 st 2 times = 19-19-20-20-20 sts remain on each shoulder. Cast off when piece measures 54-56-58-60-62 cm. Left front piece: Cast on 22-25-29-33-37 sts (incl 1 edge st side) with needle size 4.5 mm and 1 strand of each quality (= 2 strands). Read whole front piece before continuing. Increase towards mid front: Work 1 ridge while at the same time inc 1 st towards mid front on 1st row – see Increase tip. Change to needle size 5.5 mm and continue with stocking st – see description for band above. Then inc every 4th row – see Increase tip: 1 st 4-5-6-7-8 times, then every 2nd row: 1 st 10-9-8-7-6 times. Side increase: At the same time when piece measures 10 cm inc in side as for back piece. Neck decrease: After inc towards mid front is finished work 3 rows stocking st – band continued as before - (piece measures approx. 19-20-21-22-23 cm). Continue to dec towards mid front for neck every 4th row – see Decrease tip: 1 st 8-10-9-8-10 times, then every 6th row: 1 st 6-5-6-7-6 times. Continue with stocking st and band as before until finished length. Armhole: At the same time when piece measures 35-36-37-38-39 cm cast off for armhole in side as for back piece. After all increases and decreases there are 19-19-20-20-20 m remaining on shoulder. Cast off when piece measures 54-56-58-60-62 cm. Right front piece: Cast on and work as for left but reversed. Sleeve: Cast on 51-53-53-55-55 sts (incl 1 edge st in each side) with needle size 5.5 mm and 1 strand of each quality (= 2 strands). Work 1 row K from RS while at the same time dec 5 sts evenly on row = 46-48-48-50-50 sts. Then work 1 row K from WS before continuing with stocking st. When piece measures 5 cm dec 5 sts evenly on row. Repeat dec when piece measures 10 cm = 36-38-38-40-40 sts. When piece measures 16-15-15-16-17 cm inc 1 st in each side every 3.5-3-2.5-2-1.5 cm in total 9-11-13-14-17 times = 54-60-64-68-74 sts. When sleeve measures 48-48-47-46-45 cm cast off for sleeve cap in each side every 2nd row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 2-2-3-3-3 times and 1 st 2-3-2-4-5 times, continue to cast off 2 sts in each side until piece measures 55-56-56-57-57 cm, then cast off 3 sts 1 time in each side. Cast off remaining sts when piece measures approx. 56-57-57-58-58 cm. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Sew sleeve and side seams in one inside 1 edge st. Crochet buttonhole: Crochet on right front piece on widest section towards mid front. Work with hook size 3 mm and 1 strand Cotton Viscose as follows: 1 dc in st, 4 ch, fasten with 1 dc approx 1 cm further down, turn and work back 5 dc around ch-space, finish with 1 sl st in 1st dc from previous row. Sew on help button, approx 8 cm in from mid front on back of widest section of left front piece, so that right front piece is held in place. |
