---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (when working back and forth): Knit on all rows, i.e. knit from right side and knit from wrong side. 1 ridge vertically = knit 2 rows. GARTER STITCH (when working in the round): Alternately knit 1 round and purl 1 round. 1 ridge vertically = 2 rounds. EDGE STITCHES WITH I-CORD: BEGINNING OF ROW: Work as follows (= 7 stitches): Slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1 and work 5 stitches in garter stitch. END OF ROW: Work as follows (= 7 stitches): Work until 7 stitches remain on row, work 5 stitches in garter stitch, slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1. Continue like this from both right side and wrong side. PATTERN: See diagram A.1. Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side. INCREASE TIP-1: INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE LEFT- from RIGHT SIDE: Use left needle to pick up yarn between 2 stitches from row below, pick up yarn from the front and knit stitch in stitch loop behind the needle. INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE RIGHT - from RIGHT SIDE: Use left needle to pick up yarn between 2 stitches from row below, pick up yarn from the back and knit stitch in stitch loop in front of needle. INCREASE TIP-2: Increase on each side of marker in each side (= 4 stitches increased in total) as follows: Work until 2 stitches remain before marker, make 1 yarn over, knit 4 stitches (marker is in the middle of these 4 stitches), make 1 yarn over. On next round work yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- TOP - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed. Worked back and forth on needles, top down. Work front pieces and back piece separately down to armholes, then put the parts together for body. Work the body in the round on circular needle. Finish by picking up stitches around the neck and work a neck edge in the round. RIGHT SHOULDER BACK PIECE: Cast on 20-22-23-23-25-25-26 stitches on circular needle size 4 mm with DROPS Belle. Work as follows - from right side: 13-15-16-16-18-18-19 stitches in stocking stitch, 7 EDGE STITCHES WITH I-CORD – read explanation above. Continue back and forth like this. When piece measures 3 cm, cast on 1 new stitch for neck at the end of the row from wrong side, work 1 row from right side and 1 row from wrong side as before, put piece aside = 21-23-24-24-26-26-27 stitches. LEFT SHOULDER BACK PIECE: Cast on 20-22-23-23-25-25-26 stitches on circular needle size 4 mm. Work as follows - from right side: 7 edge stitches with I-cord, work 13-15-16-16-18-18-19 stitches in stocking stitch. Continue back and forth like this. When piece measures 3 cm, cast on 1 new stitch for neck at the end of next row from right side, work 1 row from wrong side as before. Now work shoulders together as explained below. BACK PIECE: Then work the parts together as follows from right side: Work as before over the 21-23-24-24-26-26-27 stitches from left shoulder, cast on 31-31-31-33-33-35-35 new stitches for neck, work as before over the 21-23-24-24-26-26-27 stitches from right shoulder = 73-77-79-81-85-87-89 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch and 7 edge stitches in each side. Remember to follow the knitting tension! When piece measures 15-15-15-13-13-12-10 cm from cast-on edge on shoulder, increase for armholes in each side on every row from right side, read INCREASE TIP-1 and work as follows: Work as before over the first 9 stitches, increase 1 stitch towards the left, work as before until 9 stitches remain, increase 1 stitch towards the right, work as before over the last 9 stitches (= 2 stitches increased). Repeat the increase on every other row 4-5-7-9-12-16-20 times in total (= 8-10-14-18-24-32-40 rows worked) = 81-87-93-99-109-119-129 stitches. Work last row from wrong side. When piece measures 15-15-15-13-13-12-10 cm, increase for armholes in each side on every row from right side, read INCREASE TIP and work as follows: Work as before over the first 9 stitches, increase 1 stitch towards the left, work as before until 9 stitches remain, increase 1 stitch towards the right, work as before over the last 9 stitches (= 2 stitches increased). Repeat the increase on every other row 4-5-7-9-12-16-20 times in total (= 8-10-14-18-24-32-40 rows worked) = 81-87-93-99-109-119-129 stitches. Work last row from wrong side. BODY: Then work stocking stitch and pattern but over the middle 20-22-24-26-28-30-32 stitches in each side work 2 ridges in GARTER STITCH (in the round) – read explanation above, then work stocking stitch over these stitches. Continue A.1 as before mid front. Insert 1 marker in each side on body, in the middle of the new 6-8-10-12-14-16-18 stitches that were cast on. When piece measures 10 cm from where new stitches were cast on, increase in each side - read INCREASE TIP-2! Increase like this every 2½ cm 5 times in total = 194-210-226-242-266-290-314 stitches. Work until body measures approx. 23-24-25-26-26-27-28 cm from mid under sleeve, last round should be last round in A.1. Now work rib, switch to circular needle 3 mm and work rib (knit 2/purl 2) – on first round in rib increase 18-22-22-22-26-30-30 stitches evenly, adjust so that 2 purl stitches in each side of A.1 is directly above 2 purl stitches from rib = 212-232-248-264-292-320-344 stitches. Cast off when rib measures 3-3-3-3-4-4-4 cm. The top measures approx. 44-46-48-50-52-54-56 cm from shoulder. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams.
