------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. Remember to read the diagrams from left to right when working from the wrong side. Due to the lace pattern in A.1 and A.3, the stitch count will vary; the stitch count given in the text is without the increased/decreased stitches (i.e., A.1a is always 26 stitches, A.1b always 5 stitches). DECREASE TIP-1: All decreases are worked from the right side! AT BEGINNING OF ROW: Knit 2, slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over knitted stitch (1 stitch decreased). AT END OF ROW: Work until there are 4 stitches left on the row, knit 2 together (1 stitch decreased), knit 2. DECREASE TIP-2: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased). KNITTING TIP: When working short rows, there will be a small hole after each turn. This hole can be closed by tightening the strand or using the technique German Short Rows as follows: Slip the first stitch purl-wise, take the strand over the right needle and tighten well from the back (2 loops on the needle). These loops are worked together on the next row. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The piece is worked in the round as far as the armholes, working cables on both the front and back pieces. The piece is then divided and the front and back pieces are finished separately, back and forth. The shoulder seams are sewn and stitches are knitted up around the armholes for the sleeves, and sleeves are worked top down. First worked back and forth with short rows for the sleeve cap then finished in the round. Stitches are knitted up around the neckline and the neck is worked in the round to finish. If there is a «0» in your chosen size, skip the information and go straight to the next instruction. BODY: Cast on 204-216-232-248-268-292-316 stitches with circular needle size 3.5 mm and DROPS Air. Work rib in the round (knit 1, purl 1) for 4-4-5-5-6-6-6 cm. Insert 1 marker-thread at the beginning of the round and 1 marker-thread after 102-108-116-124-134-146-158 stitches = sides. Change to circular needle size 5 mm. Knit 1 round, AT THE SAME TIME decrease and increase as follows: Knit 9-11-15-19-19-25-31 decreasing 2-1-2-2-3-4-5 stitches evenly across these stitches (= 7-10-13-17-16-21-26 knitted stitches), knit 85-85-85-85-97-97-97 and increase 17-17-17-17-15-15-15 stitches evenly across these stitches (= 102-102-102-102-112-112-112 knitted stitches), knit 17-23-31-39-37-49-61 knit and decrease 3-3-5-5-5-7-9 stitches evenly across these stitches (= 14-20-26-34-32-42-52 knitted stitches; making sure the marker-thread is in the middle of these stitches), knit 85-85-85-85-97-97-97 and increase 17-17-17-17-15-15-15 stitches evenly across these stitches (= 102-102-102-102-112-112-112 knitted stitches), knit 8-12-16-20-18-24-30 and decrease 1-2-3-3-2-3-4 stitches evenly across these stitches (= 7-10-13-17-16-21-26 knitted stitches) = 232-244-256-272-288-308-328 stitches. Now work PATTERN – read explanation above, as follows: Knit 7-10-13-17-16-21-26, * work A.1a, then A.1b 1-1-1-1-2-2-2 times, A.2, then A.3b 1-1-1-1-2-2-2 times, A.3a *, knit 14-20-26-34-32-42-52 (marker-thread is in the middle of these stitches), work from *-* 1 more time, then knit the last 7-10-13-17-16-21-26 stitches. Continue this pattern. Remember to maintain the knitting tension. Work until the piece measures 39-40-41-42-43-44-45 cm, with the next round an odd row in the diagrams so you continue cabling from the right side when working back and forth. Now divide for the armholes and finish the front and back pieces separately. DIVIDE FOR ARMHOLES: Start 2-3-3-4-5-6-7 stitches before the marker-thread at the beginning of the round, cast off 4-6-6-8-10-12-14 stitches for the armhole, work 112-116-122-128-134-142-150 stitches as before (= front piece), cast off 4-6-6-8-10-12-14 stitches for the armhole (marker-thread is in the middle of these stitches), work 112-116-122-128-134-142-150 stitches as before (= back piece). BACK PIECE: = 112-116-122-128-134-142-150 stitches. The first row is from the wrong side. Continue the pattern. On the next row from the right side, decrease for the armholes - read DECREASE TIP-1, and decrease 1 stitch on each side every 2nd row 1-3-4-7-7-9-11 times = 110-110-114-114-120-124-128 stitches. When the piece measures 55-57-59-61-63-65-67 cm, with the next row from the right side, decrease 14 stitches across the middle 44 stitches (decrease 6 stitches across the cable with 16 stitches and 4 stitches across each cable with 8 stitches) = 96-96-100-100-106-110-114 stitches. On the next row (wrong side), cast off the middle 26 stitches for the neckline, work to end of row and finish each shoulder separately. SHOULDER: = 35-35-37-37-40-42-44 stitches. From the right side: Continue the pattern as before but across A.1b/A.3b (= 5 stitches) knit above knit and purl above purl. AT THE SAME TIME cast off on each row from neck as follows: 1 stitch 2 times = 33-33-35-35-38-40-42 stitches. When there is 1 row left before the piece measures 58-60-62-64-66-68-70 cm, with the next row from the right side, decrease 8 stitches evenly (decrease 4 stitches across each cable of 8 stitches) = 25-25-27-27-30-32-34 stitches. Cast off with purl from the wrong side. FRONT PIECE: = 112-116-122-128-134-142-150 stitches. The first row is from the wrong side. Continue the pattern. On the next row from the right side, decrease 1 stitch for the armholes on each side every 2nd row 1-3-4-7-7-9-11 times = 110-110-114-114-120-124-128 stitches. When the piece measures 52-53-55-56-57-58-59 cm, with the next row from the right side, decrease 14 stitches across the middle 44 stitches (decrease 6 stitches across the cable with 16 stitches and 4 stitches across each cable with 8 stitches) = 96-96-100-100-106-110-114 stitches. On the next row (wrong side), place the middle 20-20-20-20-16-16-16 stitches on a stitch holder for the neckline (to avoid cutting the strand, work the stitches first), then work to end of row. Finish each shoulder separately. SHOULDER: = 38-38-40-40-45-47-49 stitches. From the right side: Continue the pattern as before but across A.1b/A.3b (= 5 stitches) knit above knit and purl above purl. AT THE SAME TIME cast off on each row from neck as follows: 2 stitches 1-1-1-1-2-2-2 times and 1 stitch 3 times = 33-33-35-35-38-40-42 stitches. ASSEMBLY: Sew shoulder seams. SLEEVES: The sleeve is worked top down. Lay the piece flat and insert 1 marker at the top of the armhole. Use circular needle size 5 mm and knit up tightly or use a smaller needle size. KNIT UP STITCHES AS FOLLOWS: Start in the middle of the cast-on stitches under the sleeve and knit up 58-62-66-68-74-78-82 stitches around the armhole, with equal numbers of stitches on both sides of the marker. SLEEVE CAP: Work stocking stitch back and forth with short rows for the sleeve cap (to give the sleeve a better fit), starting from mid-under the sleeve as follows: ROW 1 (right side): Knit to 6-6-6-7-8-10-10 stitches past the marker on top of the sleeve, turn – read KNITTING TIP. ROW 2 (wrong side): Purl to 6-6-6-7-8-10-10 stitches past the marker, turn. ROW 3 (right side): Knit to 3-3-3-2-2-2-2 stitches past the previous turn, turn. ROW 4 (wrong side): Purl to 3-3-3-2-2-2-2 stitches past the previous turn, turn. Repeat ROWS 3 and 4 until you have turned a total of 14-16-18-22-22-24-26 times (7-8-9-11-11-12-13 times each side, with the last row from the wrong side). AFTER THE LAST TURN: After the last time you work row 4, turn and knit back to the beginning of the round (mid-under the sleeve). Insert 1 marker-thread here; it is used when decreasing under the sleeve. Allow it to follow your work onwards. SLEEVE CONTINUED: Work stocking stitch in the round. AT THE SAME TIME after the first round, decrease 2 stitches mid-under the sleeve, 2 times every 2nd round, then decrease 2 stitches 2-2-4-3-4-5-5 times every 3-3-2-3-2-2-2 cm – read DECREASE TIP-2 = 50-54-54-58-62-64-68 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 44-45-44-45-43-43-43 cm from the shoulder. Change to double pointed needles size 3.5 mm. Work 1 round of rib (knit 1, purl 1), AT THE SAME TIME increase 14-16-16-16-18-20-20 stitches evenly on this round = 64-70-70-74-80-84-88 stitches. When the rib measures 7-7-8-8-9-9-9 cm, cast off with rib. The sleeve measures approx. 51-52-52-53-52-52-52 cm from the shoulder. NECK: Use circular needle size 3.5 mm. Start from the right side on one shoulder seam and knit up 86-88-88-90-92-94-96 stitches inside 1 stitch (the stitch count includes the stitches from the stitch holder). Purl 1 round, then knit 1 round and adjust the stitch count if necessary; it should be divisible by 2 Work rib in the round (knit 1, purl 1) for 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm. Cast off with rib. |
