Thank you for your answer; however it does not solve my problem. I understand I have to cast off the same amount of stitches for armholes on both sides, but before you do that the pattern states "When piece measures 48-50-51 cm cast off 6 stitches in right side and 2 stitches in left side of piece - you cast off a different stitch-number in the sides; this evens out when sewn together with back piece". This is what my question was about. Please help.

Hello Iwona Harris! It is to make a pattern fit at the side. Hope it helps!

Could you please explain the reason for casting off a different amount of stitches for armhole on the right and left side of piece (i.e. 6 and 2). Also, is right and left understood as facing you or as worn on the person. Thank youl
26.12.2022 - 14:17DROPS Design answered:
Hello Iwona Harris! You must cast off armholes on both sides with the same amount of stitches. Meaning you cast off at the beginning of the row: 4 stitches 0-1-1 time (on both sides), then 3 stitches 1-3-3 times (on both sides), then 2 stitches 2-4-4 times (on both sides) and so on. Also, sides are given as worn on the person. Hope it helps!

Mvh DROPS Design

Could you please explain the decrease in the front and back panel
22.06.2018 - 09:58DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Todd, not sure which decrease you are thinking about. If you are talking about the decrease in the diagrams, they are included in the diagram, work either K2 tog (then YO) or (first YO then) slip 1 as if to K, K1, psso (= 3rd and 4th symbol under diagram text) - the decrease are here compensated with a YO so that the number of sts keep constant. Happy knitting!

Kan antal m passe? 150m minus 4 kantm og reporten er 16m. Er det rigtigt? Det er forstykket.
23.03.2016 - 17:31DROPS Design answered:
Hej Lis.

Long DROPS jumper with cables in Muskat
DROPS 64-1 |

Knitting tension: 22 stitches x 30 rows with needle size 3.5 mm and stocking stitch = 10 x 10 cm. Remember needle size is only a guide! Pattern: See diagrams - M.1, M.2, M.3 and M.4. The diagrams are seen from the right side, 1 diagram = 1 repeat. (There are 6 stitches per repeat to compensate for contraction of the cables). Ridge/Garter stitch (back and forth on needle): 1 ridge = Knit 2 rows --------------------------------------------------------- Front piece: So that you get a cable mid front and the pattern fits at the sides, the side seams are displaced by 4 stitches. Cast on 116-136-154 stitches (incl. 2 edge stitches in each side) with needle size 3.5 mm and Muskat. Work 2 ridges - at the same time on the last row of the second ridge increase 34-40-42 stitches evenly on row = 150-176-196 stitches. Then work M.1 - start at arrow for your size - but 2 edge stitches in each side are worked in garter stitch (right side starts with lace pattern after 2 edge stitches and left side finishes with 1 cable before the 2 edge stitches).Continue the pattern upwards. Remember the knitting tension! When piece measures 48-50-51 cm cast off 6 stitches in right side and 2 stitches in left side of piece - you cast off a different stitch-number in the sides; this evens out when sewn together with back piece. Continue by casting off for armholes every 2nd row: 4 stitches x 0-1-1, 3 stitches x 1-3-3, 2 stitches x 2-4-4, 1 stitch x 3-3-3 = 122-120-140 stitches. Continue pattern but 2 edge stitches in each side are worked in garter stitch. When piece measures 63-65-67 cm place the middle 28-26-28 stitches on a thread for neck. Continue to cast off for neck every 2nd row: 3 stitches x 2, 2 stitches x 4, 1 stitch x 2 = 31-31-40 stitches left on each shoulder. When piece measures 70-72-74 cm decrease 8 stitches evenly on each shoulder. On next row, cast off all stitches. Back piece: Cast on and work as for front piece. Cast off for armholes as for front piece. When piece measures 68-70-72 cm cast off 12 stitches over the middle 60-58-60 stitches. On next row cast off 48-46-48 stitches for neck = 31-31-40 stitches left on each shoulder. When piece measures 70-72-74 cm decrease 8 stitches evenly on each shoulder. Cast off all stitches on next row. Sleeve: Cast on 54-54-54 stitches with needle size 3.5 mm and Muskat. Work 1 ridge - on last row of the ridge increase 14-14-14 stitches evenly on row = 68-68-68 stitches. Work M.1 - but 1 edge stitch in each side is worked in garter stitch upwards - start at arrow for XL/XXL in all sizes. When piece measures 8-8-8 cm increase in each side, inside the 1 edge stitch: 1 stitch x 20-20-21 for: Size S: Alternately every 5th and 6th row. Size M/L: Every 5th row. Size XL/XXL: Alternately every 4th and 5th row = 108-108-110 stitches - the increased stitches are worked into M.3 (= lace pattern) until there are enough stitches to work M.4 (= small cable). When piece measures 45-43-40 cm cast off for sleeve cap in each side every 2nd row: 3 stitches x 2-2-2, 2 stitches x 6-3-4, 1 stitch x 0-12-10, 2 stitches x 6-3-4, 3 stitches x 2-2-2. Piece now measures approx. 56-58-55 cm, cast off. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Knit up around neck with double pointed needles size 3.5 and Muskat 110 to 120 stitches (divisible by 10) - incl. stitches from thread in front. Work M.2 - at the same time increase 10 stitches evenly on first round = 120 to 130 stitches. When neck measures approx. 7 cm, decrease 2 stitches over each cable by working 4 stitches together 2 and 2. On next row cast off. Sew sleeve seams inside the 1 edge stitch. Sew side seams inside the 2 edge stitches and then sew the sleeves to the body inside the 2 edge stitches. Crochet with Muskat and hook size 3 mm double crochets around bottom of body and sleeves and around top of neck - work approx. 19 double crochets per 10 cm. |
