Bonjour, j’ai tricoté les chaussons avec une laine 100% laine , lave à 40° , la laine n’a pratiquement pas rétréci. Je suis très déçue.

Thank you. I can see that they will shrink but will the foot really go from 11 inches long to 7? (28cm to 18cm)
21.10.2019 - 12:30DROPS Design answered:
Dear Sheila, if your tension was right in both height and width (= 17 sts x 22 rows = 10 x 10 cm), you can felt your swatch (make sure to have the right number of stitches, ie knit 20 sts x 34 rows) to check the measurements (after felting 20 sts x 34 rows = 10 x 10 cm). Read more about felting here. Happy knitting!

Help! I am sure I have knitted them up correctly, but assembling them is a puzzle! I did what I Thought the instructions meant and they are now shaped like boots but the foot length isxabout 10 inches!! Something wrong somewhere...
20.10.2019 - 16:34DROPS Design answered:
Dear Sheila, the slippers will be felted, you should have a tension of 17 sts x 22 rows in stocking st = 10 x 10 cm before felting and then after felting approx. 20 sts x 34 rows = 10 x 10 cm. Happy knitting!

This question was posted by Joyce back in 2012 and I can find the answer. I too don't understand these instructions: I am not sure what to do on the row where pattern says to purl next row with 2 k sts in each side. Does that mean to k2, then purl to within 2 stitches of the end of row and knit the last 2. Also, what does it mean to " continue in stockinett st but work 1st in each side k each side? Thanks for the help. I'm new at this.
10.01.2019 - 19:09DROPS Design answered:
Hi Rachael, The edge stitches are in garter stitch (knit all rows), so when you are purling, the edge stitches will still be knitted. So the your first example you knit 2 on each side of the piece and in the second example you knit 1 on each side. I hope this helps and happy knitting!

Dit patroon met Big Merino was inderdaad geen succes... de wol vilt zelfs niet in kokend water, ik heb dit patroon gebreid met dubbele draad Alpaca. Dit is heel mooi geworden. Mijn neefje was er erg blij mee!

Hoi Caja.

Bedankt.

Hoi Caja. Big Merino is superwash behandeld. Dit garen vilt niet. Ik zou snel de order aanpassen! G

RIGHT SLIPPER: Worked back and forth in one piece and sewn tog mid back and mid on top of foot when finished. Cast on (52-54-56) 60-62-66-70 sts on needle size 5 mm with denim blue. Insert a marker in middle of piece. K 1 row. Work next row as follows: * K until 1 st remains before marker, make 1 YO, K 2 sts and make 1 more YO, K the rest of row. P next row with 2 K sts in each side - P YOs twisted to avoid holes (i.e. work in back loop of st) *. Repeat from *-* 1 more time = (56-58-60) 64-66-70-74 sts. Continue in stocking st but work 1 st in each side K on every row. When piece measures approx.(9-9½-10) 10½-11-12-12½ cm (adjust so that next row is worked from RS), K the first (8-8-8) 9-9-9-9 sts before slipping them on a stitch holder (for button strap), then cast off the next (2-2-2) 2-2-3-3 sts, work the rest of row. Turn piece and cast off the first (10-10-10) 11-11-12-12 sts = (36-38-40) 42-44-46-50 sts remain on needle. Continue in stocking st until finished measurements – AT THE SAME TIME dec 1 st at the beg of every row (2-2-3) 3-3-3-3 times in each side = (32-34-34) 36-38-40-44 sts. When piece measures (14-16-19) 21-23-25-27 cm in total, K all sts tog 2 by 2 from RS. Work 1 row without dec, then K all sts tog 2 by 2 one more time = (8-9-9) 9-10-10-11 sts remain. Cut the thread and pull it through the remaining sts and tighten tog. BUTTON STRAP: Slip the (8-8-8) 9-9-9-9 sts from stitch holder back on needle size 5 mm. K back and forth (= garter st) until strap measures (6-7-8) 9-10-11-12 cm. Now cast off the middle (2-2-2) 3-3-3-3 sts for button hole. On next row cast on (2) 3 new sts over the cast off sts. Then dec at the end of every row by K 2 tog until only (2) 3 sts remain on needle. Cut the thread and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. LEFT SLIPPER: Work as right slipper until piece measures (9-9½-10) 10½-11-12-12½ cm. Work next row as follows: Cast off the first (10-10-10) 11-11-12-12 sts, work the rest of row. Turn, work the first (8-8-8) 9-9-9-9 sts and then slip them on a stitch holder, cast off the next (2-2-2) 2-2-3-3 sts = (36-38-40) 42-44-46-50 sts remain on needle. Continue as on right slipper. EARS: Cast on (6-6-6) 7-7-8-8 sts on needle size 5 mm with denim blue. K back and forth - AT THE SAME TIME on second row, K the last 2 sts tog. Repeat dec at the end of every other row until all sts have been dec (dec only in one side). Work 2 ears for each slipper. ASSEMBLY: Fold the slipper double and sew tog mid back and mid on top on foot – sew edge to edge in front loop of outermost st to avoid a chunky seam. Sew ears on top of foot – fasten in the side on ears where sts were dec. FELTING: Place the slippers in the washing machine with a detergent without enzymes and optical bleach. Wash at 40 degrees with normal spin but no pre-wash. After wash shape the slippers to the right size while still wet and leave to dry flat. At subsequent wash, wash the slippers at regular wool programme. FACE: Embroider on a red mouth and black eyes, nose and whiskers as on picture. BUTTON: Sew on 1 button on each slipper so that they fit the button holes. Try the slipper on to ensure correct width around the ankle. AFTER FELTING: If the piece is not felted enough and is too big: Wash the piece one more time in the washing machine while it is still wet add a terry towel that measures approx. 50 x 70 cm - NOTE: Do not use a short program. If the piece has been felted too much and is too small: While the piece is still wet stretch it to the correct measurements, if the piece is dry, make sure to soak it first. Remember: All subsequent washes are as a normal wool garment. |
