In working the "Crocheted Blossom" the pattern calls for "ddc". I'm unfamiliar with this stitch. Could you please explain?

DROPS Jumper in "Paris" with inlaid crochet flowers and lace sleeves

Ridge (back and forth on needle): 1 ridge = 2 rows. 1st row K, 2nd row K. Rib: * K 1, P 1 *, repeat from *-*. Lace pattern: See diagram M.1. The pattern in diagram is seen from RS. Crochet flower squares: 1 square = 12 x 12 cm. Work 8 ch with hook size 3.5 mm and Paris, form sts to a ring with 1 sl st. 1st round: 3 ch (= 1 tr), * 2 ch, 1 tr in next st *, repeat from *-* in total 7 times and finish with 2 ch and 1 sl st in 3rd ch at beg of round (= 8 tr in round). 2nd round: * 4 dtr (first dtr in round replaced by 4 ch) around ch loop, 2 ch *, repeat from *-* in total 8 times, finish with 1 sl st in 4th ch at beg of round. 3rd round: * 4 dtr worked tog (first dtr in round replaced by 4 ch) – i.e. wait the last YO and pull through every single dtr until all dtr are worked, 1 YO, pull yarn through all sts on hook (work 1 dtr in each dtr from previous round), 6 ch, 1 tr around the 2 ch from previous round, 6 ch *, repeat from *-* in total 8 times, finish with 1 sl st in first dtr group. 4th round: Work sl st to middle of first ch loop, 1 ch, 1 dc around ch loop, * 5 ch, 1 dc around next ch loop, 5 ch, 1 tr around next ch loop, 10 ch, 1 tr around next ch loop (= corner), 5 ch, 1 dc around next ch loop *, repeat from *-* in total 3 times, then 5 ch, 1 dc around next ch loop, 5 ch, 1 tr around next ch loop, 10 ch, 1 tr around next ch loop (= corner), 5 ch, finish with 1 sl st in first dc at beg of round. Front piece: Cast on 64-70-76-84-90 sts (incl 1 edge st in each side) with needle size 4 mm and Paris and work 4 rows rib. Change to needle size 5 mm and continue with stocking st. Remember knitting tension! When the piece measures 5-6-7-8-9 cm work 1 row P (seen from RS) over the middle 22 sts – the remaining sts are worked in stocking st. On next row, cast off the middle 20 sts (here the crochet flower squares are to be added) and each part is worked separately. Put sts from left side (when the jumper is worn) on a thread. Read the next part of pattern before continuing: Right side: = 22-25-28-32-35 sts. Continue with stocking st but the outermost st towards mid front is worked in ridges. Side inc: When the piece measures 10 cm inc 1 st in the side every 5th cm in total 4-4-5-5-5-5 times = 26-29-33-37-40 sts. Armhole: When the piece measures 33-34-35-36-37 cm cast off for armhole in the side every 2nd row: 3 sts 1-1-1-2-2 times, 2 sts 0-1-3-3-4 times and 1 st 3-3-3-3-3 times = 20-21-21-22-23 sts on needle. When the piece measures 41-42-43-44-45 cm put these sts on a thread. Left side: Put sts from thread on the left side back on needle size 5 mm and work as for RS but reversed. When the piece measures 41-42-43-44-45 cm cast on 20 new sts towards mid front and the sts from the thread on right side are put back on needle = 60-62-62-64-66 sts. Continue with stocking st but on 1st row, work P (seen from RS) across the middle 22 sts. When the piece measures 44-46-47-49-51 cm put the middle 14 sts on a thread for the neck. Continue to cast off on each side of neck every 2nd row: 2 sts 2 times and 1 st 3 times = 16-17-17-18-19 sts remain on each shoulder. Cast off when the piece measures 52-54-56-58-60 cm. Back piece: Cast on and work as for front piece – but there are no inlaid crochet squares on the back. The back piece is therefore worked straight up in stocking st after the rib. Cast off for the armholes as for front piece and continue working until the piece measures 50-52-54-56-58 cm. Now, cast off the middle 26 sts for the neck. Continue to cast off 1 st on next row towards neck = 16-17-17-18-19 sts remain for each shoulder. Cast off when the piece measures 52-54-56-58-60 cm. Sleeves: Because of the pattern, the sleeves need to be measured when held up. Otherwise they will be too long when put on. Cast on 35-35-35-39-39 sts (incl 1 edge st in each side) with needle size 5 mm and Paris and work pattern M.1 (1st row = WS) NOTE: M.1 is worked from the edge as follows: 1 edge st, M.1A (= 5 sts), M.1B across the next 24-24-24-28-28 sts, M.1C (= 4 sts), 1 edge st. When the piece measures 10 cm inc 1 st in each side every 7-5-3.5-4.5-3.5 cm in total 6-8-10-8-10 times – the increased sts are worked in stocking st until they can be worked into the pattern = 47-51-55-55-59 sts. When the sleeve measures 49-47-46-45-43 cm cast off for sleeve cap in each side every 2nd row: 3 sts 1 time and 2 sts 1 time, continue to cast off 1 st in each side until the piece measures 54-54-55-55-55 cm, the cast off 3 sts in each side until the piece measures 56-56-57-57-57 cm. Cast off the remaining sts. Assembly: Sew right shoulder seam. Neck: Pick up approx. 72 - 80 sts (incl sts on thread, divided by 2) round the neck with needle size 4 mm and Paris and work 2 rows rib, then cast off with K over K and P over P. Sew left shoulder seam and up over neck edge. Then crochet round the neck on hook size 3.5 mm with Paris as follows: 1 dc, * 4 ch, skip over 1 st, 1 dc in next st *, repeat from *-* and finish with 1 sl st in 1st dc at beginning of round. Crochet 3 flower squares - see description above – and sew them tog in a row with small sts edge to edge. Then sew the row in the open space on front piece – sew using small sts edge to edge with ridge sts so you do not get a thick seam. Sew in sleeves. Sew sleeves and side seams in one inside the 1 edge st. |
