---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. RAGLAN: Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over. On next round work yarn overs as explained below: BEFORE RAGLAN STITCHES (= twist yarn over towards the right): Move yarn over from left needle to right needle purlwise, slip yarn over back on left needle by inserting left needle from behind in yarn over (yarn over is now twisted). Knit yarn over in loop in front of needle - to avoid holes. Work the new stitches in stocking stitch. AFTER RAGLAN STITCHES (= twist yarn over towards the left): Knit yarn overs in loop behind the needle - to avoid holes. Work the new stitches in stocking stitch. INCREASE TIP: When increasing stitches evenly in transition for rib, there will be an even increase if you increase where stitches are going to be purled, the stitches in stocking stitch will then continue nicely over into rib. SLEEVE TIP: When picking up stitches mid under sleeve, there will be a small hole in the transition between stitches on body and sleeves. The holes can be closed by picking up the strand between two stitches - work this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve to close the hole. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread is between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed. Work neck edge and yoke in the round on circular needle from right shoulder at the back, and work top down with increases for raglan. When yoke is done, divide piece for body and sleeves. Work body downwards in the round on circular needle while putting the sleeves aside. Then work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. NECK EDGE: Cast on 104-104-108-112-120-124-128 stitches on circular needle size 2.5 mm with DROPS Karisma or DROPS Saga. Knit 1 round. Then work rib in the round (= knit 1 and purl 1) for 3-3-3-3½-3½-4-4 cm. Then work a neck border as follows: ROUND 1: Number of stitches is doubled on this round: * Make 1 yarn over, knit 1 *, work from *-* the entire round = 208-208-216-224-240-248-256 stitches. ROUND 2: * Purl yarn over, slip next stitch on to right needle without working it, when slipping the stitch insert right needle into stitch as if to purl with strand behind piece *, work from *-* the entire round. ROUND 3: * Slip next stitch on to right needle without working it, when slipping the stitch insert right needle into stitch as if to purl with strand in front of piece, knit 1 *, work from *-* the entire round. ROUND 4: * Purl 1, slip next stitch on to right needle without working it, when slipping the stitch insert right needle into stitch as if to purl with strand behind piece *, work from *-* the entire round. ROUND 5: Number of stitches is halved: * Purl 2 together *, work from *-* the entire round = 104-104-108-112-120-124-128 stitches. Beginning of round is at the right shoulder at the back (make sure that the beginning of round follows the raglan line all the way down to division for body and sleeve). After the neck border insert 1 marker after the first 35-35-36-37-40-41-43 stitches on round (= approx. mid front), measure piece from this marker. YOKE: Continue with circular needle size 4 mm. Insert 8 markers in the piece without working the stitches, insert markers on each side of 6 stitches, these 6 stitches are increased to 8 stitches on first round. These 8 stitches are called raglan stitches. Increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitches. Work raglan stitches work in PATTERN - read explanation above. Insert 1st marker before 1st stitch at the beginning of round, count 6 stitches (= raglan stitches), insert 2nd marker before next stitch, count 19-19-19-19-23-23-25 stitches (= sleeve), insert 3rd marker before next stitch, count 6 stitches (= raglan stitches), insert 4th marker before next stitch, count 21-21-23-25-25-27-27 stitches (= front piece), insert 5th marker before next stitch, count 6 stitches (= raglan stitches), insert 6th marker before next stitch, count 19-19-19-19-23-23-25 stitches (= sleeve), insert 7th marker before next stitch, count 6 stitches (= raglan stitches), insert 8th marker before next stitch, 21-21-23-25-25-27-27 stitches remain after last marker (= back piece). Now work stocking stitch with pattern over raglan stitches - AT THE SAME TIME increase for RAGLAN on each side of raglan stitches – read explanation on how to increase and work as follows: ROUND 1: Work A.1 between 1st and 2nd marker, increase 1 stitch for raglan, knit 19-19-19-19-23-23-25 (= sleeve), increase 1 stitch for raglan, work A.1 between 3rd and 4th marker, increase 1 stitch for raglan, knit 21-21-23-25-25-27-27 (= front piece), increase 1 stitch for raglan, work A.1 between 5th and 6th marker, increase 1 stitch for raglan, knit 19-19-19-19-23-23-25 (= sleeve), increase 1 stitch for raglan, work A.1 between 7th and 8th marker, increase 1 stitch for raglan, knit 21-21-23-25-25-27-27 (= back piece), increase 1 stitch for raglan = 120-120-124-128-136-140-144 stitches. ROUND 2: Work stocking stitch and pattern as before – remember to work yarn overs as explained in RAGLAN. A.1 is now done. ROUND 3: Work stocking stitch and pattern but now work A.2 between 1st and 2nd marker and between 5th and 6th marker and work A.3 between 3rd and 4th marker and between 7th and 8th marker. Increase in addition for raglan on each side of raglan stitches (= 8 stitches increased). ROUND 4: Work stocking stitch and pattern as before - work yarn overs twisted as before. Work 3rd and 4th ROUND 8-12-17-23-22-22-18 times in total (= 18-26-36-48-46-46-38 rounds worked after neck border) = 184-216-260-312-312-316-288 stitches on needle. Remember to follow the knitting tension! Then work and increase for raglan as follows: ROUND 1: Work stocking stitch and pattern as before, and increase for raglan on each side of raglan stitches (= 8 stitches increased). ROUND 2: Work stocking stitch and pattern as before (work yarn overs as before). ROUND 3: Work stocking stitch and pattern as before and increase for raglan on front piece and back piece, i.e. increase AFTER 4th and 8th marker and BEFORE 5th and 1st marker - do no increase stitches on sleeves (= 4 stitches increased). ROUND 4: Work stocking stitch and pattern as before (work yarn overs as before). Work 1st to 4th ROUND 10-9-7-5-7-8-12 times in total (= 40-36-28-20-28-32-48 rounds worked = 10-9-7-5-7-8-12 increases on sleeves and 20-18-14-10-14-16-24 increases on front piece/back piece). All increases for raglan are now done, piece measures approx. 21-22-23-24-26-28-31 cm from marker mid front, 19-22-25-29-30-31-31 increases in total have been done on sleeves and 29-31-32-34-37-39-43 increases on front piece/back piece = 304-324-344-372-396-412-432 stitches on needle. Now divide yoke for body and sleeves - remember that the beginning of round is at 1st marker (before working A.2 for the first time on round). DIVIDING FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: When dividing piece for body and sleeves the raglan stitches will be placed somewhat in on front piece/back piece, i.e. AT THE SAME TIME as next round is worked divide yoke for body and sleeves as follows: Work the first 8-9-10-11-12-13-13 stitches as before (= these stitches belong to back piece), slip the next 57-61-65-71-75-75-77 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 10-12-14-16-18-22-26 new stitches on row (= in the side mid under sleeve), work 95-101-107-115-123-131-139 stitches as before (= front piece), slip the next 57-61-65-71-75-75-77 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 10-12-14-16-18-22-26 new stitches on row (= in the side mid under sleeve), and work the last 87-92-97-104-111-118-126 stitches as before (= back piece). Finish body and sleeves separately. BODY: = 210-226-242-262-282-306-330 stitches. Insert 1 marker in one side of piece (= in the middle of the 10-12-14-16-18-22-26 stitches that were cast on under sleeve). Work until marker, round begins here and work in the round. Work stocking stitch and pattern as before until piece measures 53-55-57-59-59-61-63 cm from marker mid front – NOTE! Work stitches cast on under each sleeve in stocking stitch. Switch to circular needles size 2.5 mm, work rib (= knit 1 and purl 1) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 28-32-38-38-46-54-60 stitches evenly - read INCREASE TIP - NOTE! You should increase 1 stitch in A.2 and A.3 so that the rib fits nicely over the pattern = 238-258-280-300-328-360-390 stitches. When rib measures 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm, cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl or use Italian cast-off. Jumper measures 57-59-61-63-64-66-68 cm from marker mid front and approx. 62-64-66-68-70-72-74 cm from the top of shoulder. SLEEVES: Slip 57-61-65-71-75-75-77 sleeve stitches from one thread on to needle size 4 mm and pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 10-12-14-16-18-22-26 stitches cast on under sleeve - read SLEEVE TIP = 67-73-79-87-93-97-103 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 10-12-14-16-18-22-26 new stitches under sleeve - round begins at the marker thread. Work in stocking stitch in the round on needle - AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 2 cm from division, decrease mid under sleeve – read DECREASE TIP and decrease as follows: Decrease 2 stitches every 14-8-7-4-3-2½-2 cm 3-5-7-10-13-14-16 times = 61-63-65-67-67-69-71 stitches on needle. Work until sleeve measures 44-44-44-43-41-40-38 cm from division. Switch to double pointed needles size 2.5 mm and work rib (= knit 1 and purl 1) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 13-13-15-15-15-15-15 stitches evenly on 1st round = 74-76-80-82-82-84-86 stitches. When rib measures 6-6-6-6-7-7-7 cm, cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl or use Italian cast-off. Sleeve measures approx. 50-50-50-49-48-47-46 cm from division. |
