(sorry, I forgot to mark this as a question) Hello, how do I work the saddle increases (M1R/M1L) while at the same time handling increases and YO as a part of pattern A1? For example, what should I do when the pattern calls for SKP or k2tog that includes one of the stitches that was just increased on the new round? Do I ignore this and just handle it as a regular knit stitch? Do I do the YO right after?

Dear Lucy, rather work the stitches in stocking stitch if you don't have enough room for the whole (decrease + YO), so that you will be sure to get the correct lace pattern and not break the increases neither. Happy knitting!

Hi What is meant by A.2 stitches fitting over A.1 for the SADDLE SHOULDER INCREASE? Would that mean I have to make sure that I'm doing the 20 row 14 stitch repeat?
06.10.2024 - 14:37DROPS Design answered:
Dear Ree, you need to adjust the pattern to ensure that the repeats of A.2 will match the position of the A.1 lace pattern (they should look aligned). For example, the lower lace pattern section on A.2 should be worked over the section of A.1 where there was a lower lace pattern section, while the higher lace pattern section is worked over the higher lace pattern section in A.1. You should begin differently or make partial repeats if necessary to adjust the A.2 repeats over the right A.1 sections. Happy knitting!

Hi. Making size XL. Measurement A (first part of saddle measures 19cm approx from the neckline marker. The pattern says it should be 10cm. Then I notice that the original pattern says every round and this has since been corrected to every other round for this first part. My tension is correct. Any idea please?
29.06.2022 - 19:25DROPS Design answered:
Dear Lynne, yes a correction has been made to this pattern, you increase a total of 32 times on every round for the saddle shoulders, so that you will work a total of 32 rounds after neck and with 32 rows = 10 cm, your 32 rows will be 10 cm. Happy knitting!

Bonjour. J'adore vos laines.

---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. Find your size in the diagram. INCREASE TIP (applies to increase for saddle shoulder, sleeves and yoke): BEFORE MARKER: The new stitch is twisted towards the right. Use left needle to pick up yarn between 2 stitches from row below, pick up yarn from the back and knit stitch in front loop of stitch. AFTER MARKER: The new stitch is twisted towards the left. Use left needle to pick up yarn between 2 stitches from row below, pick up yarn from the front and knit stitch in back loop of stitch. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Work neck edge and yoke in the round on circular needle from transition between back piece and right sleeve, top down. Now divide yoke for body and sleeves. Work the body in the round on circular needle. Work sleeves in the round on double pointed needles/a short circular needle. NECK EDGE: Cast on 156-164-168-172-180-184 stitches on circular needle size 2.5 mm with DROPS Flora. Knit 1 round. Then work rib = knit 2/purl 2. Continue rib like this for 3 cm. When rib is done, purl 1 round while decreasing 10-14-14-14-14-14 stitches evenly = 146-150-154-158-166-170 stitches. Switch to circular needle size 3 mm. Then work yoke as explained below. YOKE: Insert 1 marker here - NOW MEASURE PIECE FROM HERE! In addition insert 4 new marker in the piece as explained below - this is done without working the stitches, and each of these 4 markers are inserted between 2 stitches. Use markers when increasing for saddle shoulder. 1st marker: Insert first marker before first stitch at the beginning of round. The beginning of round is now always at first marker. 2nd marker: Count 22 stitches from 1st marker (= shoulder stitches), insert 2nd marker before next stitch. 3rd marker: Count 51-53-55-57-61-63 stitches from 2nd marker (= front piece), insert 3rd marker before next stitch. 4th marker: Count 22 stitches from 3rd marker (= shoulder stitches), insert 4th marker before next stitch. 51-53-55-57-61-63 stitches remain on back piece after 4th marker. Move these 4 markers upwards when working, increase at each of these markers later. SADDLE SHOULDER INCREASE: Read all of the following section before continuing! WORK FIRST ROUND AS FOLLOWS: Work in stocking stitch over shoulder stitches until 2nd marker (= 22 stitches), increase AFTER 2nd marker – read INCREASE TIP-2, work A.1 over front piece until 3rd marker, increase BEFORE 3rd marker, work in stocking stitch over shoulder stitches until 4th marker (= 22 stitches), increase AFTER 4th marker, work A.1 over back piece until first marker, increase BEFORE 1st marker. 4 stitches have been increased for saddle shoulder - stitches increased on front piece and on back piece and number of stitches on shoulders stays the same. Continue pattern like this, and increase every round 24-28-30-32-32-32 times in total = 242-262-274-286-294-298 stitches. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! Work the increased stitches in pattern A.2. Make sure that A.2 fits over stitches from A.1. After last increase piece measures approx. 8-8-9-10-10-10 cm from marker by the neck. Then increase for sleeves as explained below. SLEEVE INCREASE: Work in stocking stitch over stitches on sleeves and pattern as before on front piece /back piece. AT THE SAME TIME on next round increase 4 stitches for sleeves as follows: Increase 1 stitch AFTER 1st and 3rd marker and increase 1 stitch BEFORE 2nd and 4th marker. Increase now only on sleeves but number of stitches on front piece and back piece stays the same. Work the increased stitches in stocking stitch. Increase like this every other round 26-28-32-34-30-28 times in total = 346-374-402-422-414-410 stitches. Piece now measures approx. 23-24-28-30-28-27 cm from marker in neck. YOKE INCREASE: This section only applies to sizes XL, XXL and XXXL, in sizes S, M and L the increases are done. Move the 4 markers from sleeve increase so that each of the 4 markers is in the outermost stitch in each side on front piece and back piece. There are 90-82-78 stitches between stitches with marker on each sleeve. On next round increase 8 stitches for yoke by increasing both before and after each of the 4 stitches with marker - remember INCREASE TIP. Increase stitches on front piece, back piece and both sleeves, and work the increased stitches in A.2 on back piece/front piece and in stocking stitch on sleeves. Increase like this every other round 2-7-11 times in total = 438-470-498 stitches. ALL SIZES: = 346-374-402-438-470-498 stitches. When all increases are done, the piece measures approx. 23-24-28-31-32-33 cm from neck edge. If the garment is shorter than this, continue as before without increases until correct measurements. Now divide piece for body and sleeves as follows: Slip the first 74-78-86-94-96-100 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 8-8-10-12-14-16 stitches under sleeve, work 99-109-115-125-139-149 stitches as before (front piece), slip the next 74-78-86-94-96-100 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 8-8-10-12-14-16 stitches under sleeve, work as before over the last 99-109-115-125-139-149 stitches (back piece). Finish body and sleeves separately. NOW MEASURE PIECE FROM HERE! BODY: = 214-234-250-274-306-330 stitches. Work A.1 in the round, work the stitches that do not fit A.2 in the side in stocking stitch. Work until piece measures 21-22-20-19-20-21 cm from division. Knit 1 round while increasing 46-50-52-58-64-68 stitches evenly = 260-284-302-332-370-398 stitches. Switch to circular needle size 2.5 mm. Work rib (= knit 1/purl 1). Continue rib like this for 4 cm. Loosely cast off. Jumper measures approx. 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm from shoulder and down. SLEEVES: Slip the 74-78-86-94-96-100 stitches from stitch holder in one side of piece on double pointed needles or a short circular needle size 3 mm and pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 8-8-10-12-14-16 new stitches cast on under sleeve = 82-86-96-106-110-116 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread mid under sleeve, i.e. in the middle of the 8-8-10-12-14-16 stitches that were cast on under sleeves. Begin round at the marker thread and work in stocking stitch until sleeve measures 20-19-16-14-13-12 cm from division. 4 cm remain until finished measurements. Knit 1 round, and decrease at the same time 4-4-10-16-16-16 stitches evenly = 78-82-86-90-94-100 stitches. Switch to double pointed needles size 2.5 mm. Work rib in the round = knit 1/purl 1 for 4 cm. Loosely cast off. Sleeve measures approx. 24-23-20-18-17-16 cm from division. Work the other sleeve the same way. |
