------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- KNITTING TIP: When working short rows, there will be a small hole after each turn. This hole can be closed by tightening the strand or using the technique German Short Rows as follows: Slip the first stitch purl-wise with the strand in front, take the strand over the right needle and tighten well from the back (2 loops on the needle). These loops are worked together on the next row. RAGLAN: All increases are worked from the right side! Increase 1 stitch before/after 6 stitches in each transition between the body and sleeves (marker-thread in the middle of these 6 stitches = 2 purled, 2 knitted, 2 purled stitches). Increase by making 1 yarn over which is worked as follows on the next row/round: FROM WRONG SIDE: BEFORE RAGLAN-STITCHES (yarn over twists to the left): Purl through the stitch loop that lies on the back of the needle (avoids a hole). Continue the new stitches in stocking stitch. AFTER RAGLAN-STITCHES (yarn over twists to the right): Slip the yarn over from the left needle to the right needle purl-wise, then replace it by inserting the left needle through the back (the yarn over is the other way round). Purl through the stitch loop that lies on the front of the needle (avoids a hole). Continue the new stitches in stocking stitch. FROM RIGHT SIDE: BEFORE RAGLAN-STITCHES (yarn over twists to the right): Slip the yarn over from the left needle to the right needle purl-wise, then replace it by inserting the left needle through the back (the yarn over is the other way round). Knit through the stitch loop that lies on the front of the needle (avoids a hole). Continue the new stitches in stocking stitch. AFTER RAGLAN-STITCHES (yarn over twists to the left): Knit through the stitch loop that lies on the back of the needle (avoids a hole). Continue the new stitches in stocking stitch DECREASE TIP (for mid-under sleeves): Start 3 stitches before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (= 2 stitches decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The neck is worked in the round, then the neckline is continued back and forth. The yoke is worked in the round, top down and from mid-back. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for the body and sleeves and the body is continued in the round, while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked top down, in the round. If there is a «0» in your chosen size, skip the information and go straight to the next instruction. NECK: Cast on 88-88-88-104-104-104 stitches with 1 strand DROPS Air or 1 strand DROPS Alaska and 1 strand DROPS Kid-Silk (2 strands) using circular needle size 4.5 mm. Knit 1 round, then work rib as follows: Knit 1, * purl 2, knit 2 *, work from *-* until there are 3 stitches left, purl 2 and knit 1. Continue this rib for 6 cm. Insert 4 marker-threads, without working the stitches and inserting each marker between 2 knitted stitches. The threads are used when increasing for raglan. Insert 1 marker at the beginning of the round (mid-back); the piece is measured from here. Count 12-12-12-16-16-16 stitches (half the back piece), insert 1 marker-thread, count 20 stitches (sleeve), insert 1 marker-thread, count 24-24-24-32-32-32 stitches (front piece), insert 1 marker-thread, count 20 stitches (sleeve), insert 1 marker-thread, there are 12-12-12-16-16-16 stitches left (half the back piece). NECKLINE: Change to circular needle size 5.5 mm. Work the neckline with short rows as follows – read KNITTING TIP in explanations above. Work stocking stitch, but 6 stitches in each raglan-line are worked as follows (seen from the right side): purl 2, knit 2, purl 2 (with the marker-thread between the 2 knitted stitches). ROW 1 (right side): Knit and increase for RAGLAN – read explanation above, on each side of the first 2 marker-threads (4 increased stitches), turn when you have worked 5 stitches past the 2nd marker-thread (left-front of neckline when the garment is worn). ROW 2 (wrong side): Purl to 5 stitches past the last marker-thread. ROW 3 (right side): Knit and increase for raglan on each side of all marker-threads (8 increased stitches), turn when you have worked to 2 stitches past the previous turn. ROW 4 (wrong side): Purl to 2 stitches past the previous turn. ROW 5 (right side): Knit and increase for raglan on each side of all marker-threads (8 increased stitches), turn when you have worked to 2 stitches past the previous turn. ROW 6 (wrong side): Purl to 2 stitches past the previous turn. ROW 7 (right side): Knit and increase for raglan on each side of the first 2 marker-threads (4 increased stitches), continue to mid-back. The short rows are finished and you have increased 3 times for raglan by each marker-thread = 112-112-112-128-128-128 stitches. Continue in the round from mid-back. Knit 1 round without increasing. YOKE: Continue stocking stitch and the increases for raglan. In sizes S, M and L go straight to ALL SIZES. In sizes XL, XXL and XXXL increase as follows: ROUND 1: Knit and increase for raglan on each side of all marker-threads (8 increased stitches). NOTE: At the beginning of the round increase after marker-thread-1 and at the end of the round increase before marker-thread-1. ROUND 2: Knit (raglan-stitches worked as before). Work ROUNDS 1 and 2 a total of 0-0-0-3-1-2 times (0-0-0-6-2-4 rounds worked) = 112-112-112-152-136-144 stitches. Remember to maintain the knitting tension. A total of 3-3-3-6-4-5 increases in height from the neck. ALL SIZES: Now increase as follows ROUND 1: Knit and increase for raglan on each side of all marker-threads (8 increased stitches). ROUND 2: Knit (raglan-stitches worked as before). ROUND 3: Knit and increase for raglan on the front and back pieces, i.e., after marker-threads 2 and 4 and before marker-threads 3 and 1; do not increase on the sleeves (4 increased stitches). ROUND 4: Knit (raglan-stitches worked as before). Work ROUNDS 1 to 4 a total of 9-9-11-10-12-12 times (36-36-44-40-48-48 rounds worked: 18-18-22-20-24-24 increases in height on the front and back pieces and 9-9-11-10-12-12 increases in height on the sleeves) = 220-220-244-272-280-288 stitches. In sizes XL and XXL all increases are finished, but in sizes S, M, L and XXXL increase on the front and back pieces 1-2-1-0-0-3 more times every 2nd round. A total of 22-23-26-26-28-32 increases in height on the body and 12-12-14-16-16-17 increases in height on the sleeves (including the short rows on the neckline). After the last increase, there are 224-228-248-272-280-300 stitches. Continue working without further increases until the piece measures 23-25-27-28-30-34 cm, from the marker mid-back). Now divide for the body and sleeves. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES Knit the first 31-32-35-39-41-45 stitches, purl 2, knit 1 (half the raglan-stitches), place the next 44-44-48-52-52-54 stitches on a stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 8-12-12-12-16-16 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), knit 1, purl 2, knit 62-64-70-78-82-90, purl 2, knit 1 (front piece), place the next 44-44-48-52-52-54 stitches on a stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 8-12-12-12-16-16 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), knit 1, purl 2 then knit the last 31-32-35-39-41-45 stitches (= back piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. BODY: = 152-164-176-192-208-224 stitches. Continue stocking stitch across the front and back pieces, rib across the 3 raglan-stitches on each side and rib across the 8-12-12-12-16-16 cast-on stitches under each sleeve (purl 2, knit 2), i.e., the rib on the front and back pieces is worked in rib with the cast-on stitches (= 14-18-18-18-22-22 ribbed stitches each side). Work until the piece measures 46-48-50-51-53-55 cm from mid-back. Change to circular needle size 4.5 and work as before at the same time increase 10-12-14-14-18-18 stitches evenly across the stocking stitches on the front piece and 10-12-14-14-18-18 stitches evenly across the stocking stitches on the back piece = 172-188-204-220-244-260 stitches. Work rib as before on each side and work (knit 2 and purl 2) across the front and back pieces. Work this rib for 6-6-6-7-7-7 cm, then cast off with rib. The jumper measures approx. 58-60-62-64-66-68 cm from the shoulder and 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm from mid-back. SLEEVES: Place the 44-44-48-52-52-54 sleeve-stitches from one stitch holder onto circular needle/double pointed needles size 5.5 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 8-12-12-12-16-16 cast-on stitches under the sleeve = 52-56-60-64-68-70 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the new stitches under the sleeve. Work stocking stitch in the round. When the sleeve measures 3 cm from the division, decrease mid-under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP, as follows: Decrease 2 stitches every 6-4-4-3-3-3 cm 4-6-6-8-8-8 times = 44-44-48-48-52-54 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 45-44-43-40-39-36 cm from the division. Change to double pointed needles size 4.5 mm and knit 1 round increasing 8-8-8-8-8-10 stitches evenly spaced = 52-52-56-56-60-64 stitches. Work rib (knit 2, purl 2) for 6-6-6-7-7-7 cm. Cast off. The sleeve measures approx. 51-48-49-47-46-43 cm from the division. |
