Alvast bedankt Helena Helena Willems

EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- DECREASE TIP-1 (evenly): To calculate how to decrease evenly, use the total number of stitches on row (e.g. 132 stitches) and divide stitches by number of decreases to be done (e.g. 36) = 3.7. In this example work alternately approx. every 2nd and 3rd stitch and every 3rd and 4th stitch together. PATTERN: Hat: See diagram A.1. Work the entire pattern in stocking stitch. Mittens: See diagram A.2. Work the entire pattern in stocking stitch. KNITTING TIP: To avoid the knitting tension to tighten when working pattern, it is important not to tighten the strands on back side of piece. Use a larger needle size when working pattern if needed. INCREASE TIP (applies to thumb gusset on mitten): Work the entire thumb gusset with lemon. Work until stitch with marker, make 1 yarn over, knit 1 (= stitch with marker), make 1 yarn over (= 2 stitches increased). On next round knit yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. On next increase work as follows: Work until 1 stitch remains before stitch with marker, make 1 yarn over, knit 3, make 1 yarn over (= 2 stitches increased). Continue increase like this every other round, i.e. always increase on the outside of the increased stitches. DECREASE TIP-2 (applies to top of mitten): Begin 3 stitches before marker and knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker is between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- HAT - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Worked in the round on circular needle, bottom up. Switch to double pointed needles when needed. HAT: Cast on 132-140 stitches on circular needle size 3 mm with light pearl grey. Work rib in the round = knit 2/purl 2 for 10 cm. Switch to circular needle size 4 mm. Knit 1 round while decreasing 36-36 stitches evenly - read DECREASE TIP-1 = 96-104 stitches. Read KNITTING TIP and work A.1 in the round (= 12-13 repetitions of 8 stitches). REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When A.1 has been worked, continue in stocking stitch with lemon. When piece measures 24-24 cm, knit 1 round while decreasing 0-2 stitches evenly = 96-102 stitches. Now insert 6 markers in the piece as follows: Insert first marker at the beginning of round, then insert the next 5 markers 16-17 stitches apart. On next round, decrease 1 stitch after every marker by knitting the first 2 stitches together after every marker. Decrease like this on every other round 10-10 times in total and then on every round 2-3 times in total = 24-24 stitches remain. Knit 2 rounds where all stitches are knitted together 2 by 2 on both rounds = 6-6 stitches remain. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten together and fasten. Hat measures approx. 32-33 cm in total from top and down. Fold up half the rib edge. ---------------------------------------------------------- MITTENS - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Work piece in the round on double pointed needles, bottom up. RIGHT MITTEN: Cast on 44-48 stitches on double pointed needles size 3 mm with light pearl grey. Work rib in the round = knit 2/purl 2 for 4-5 cm. Switch to double pointed needles size 3.5 mm. Knit 1 round while decreasing 4-0 stitches evenly - read DECREASE TIP-1 = 40-48 stitches. Read KNITTING TIP and work A.2 in the round (= 5-6 repetitions of 8 stitches). REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When A.2 has been worked, continue in stocking stitch with lemon. AT THE SAME TIME on round marked with arrow in A.2 (piece measures approx. 11-12 cm), insert 1 marker in first stitch on round. Now increase for thumb gusset by increasing 1 stitch on each side of stitch with marker - read INCREASE TIP (= 2 stitches increased). Continue increase for thumb gusset every other round 5-6 times in total (work the entire thumb gusset with lemon) = 50-60 stitches. Continue to work without increase until piece measures 15-17 cm. On next round slip the next 11-13 thumb gusset stitches on a stitch holder, continue in the round with lemon and at the same time cast on 1 new stitch on needle over stitches on stitch holder = 40-48 stitches. Work until mitten measures 24-26 cm (approx. 3 cm remain until finished measurements, try the mitten on and work to desired length). Insert 1 marker thread at beginning of round and 1 marker thread after 20-24 stitches. On next round decrease 1 stitch on both each side of both marker threads – read DECREASE TIP-2 (= 4 stitches decreased). Decrease like this on every other round 3-3 times in total and then on every round 2-2 times in total = 20-28 stitches remain. Knit 2 rounds where all stitches are knitted together 2 by 2 on both rounds = 5-7 stitches remain. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten together and fasten. Mitten measures approx. 27-29 cm from top and down. THUMB: Slip the 11-13 thumb gusset stitches from stitch holder back on double pointed needles size 3.5 mm and pick in addition up 4-3 stitches behind thumb with lemon = 15-16 stitches. Work in stocking stitch in the round until the thumb measures 5-5½ cm (approx. ½ cm remain until finished measurements, try the mitten on and work to desired length). Knit 2 rounds where all stitches are knitted together 2 by 2 on both rounds = 4-4 stitches remain. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten together and fasten. LEFT MITTEN: Cast on and work the same way as right mitten but when increasing for thumb gusset insert marker in last stitch on round. Work the rest of the mitten the same way as right mitten. |
