Men ville gerne have haft det symmetrisk:)

Hei Stine.

Bon tricot!

Hi, I've just finished one of the shoulders at the front and I have way more stitches than the back. When I separated for the neck (34 sts) each shoulder was 36 sts which means that when you are decreasing in this part : "Cast off 3 stitches 1 time, 2 stitches 2 times, and 1 stitch 2 times = 20 stitches for shoulder." You don't end up with 20 stitches, you end up with 27. I have now even cast off and the shoulders (back and front) are not the same. The front is way wider. What do I do ?
16.07.2024 - 00:27DROPS Design answered:
Dear Susana, have you worked the armhole decreases in the front piece? You start with 106 stitches in both the front and back piece. Then you work as the back piece until piece measures 46-48 cm. So, in that section, you start off working the pattern and the armhole decreases, where you decrease 14 stitches. Then, you have 92 stitches left. Cast off for the neck 34 sts and you have 58 sts left, or 29 for each shoulder. Then cast off 9 stitches in each shoulder. You have 20 stitches left. Happy knitting!

Hi, I still dont understand your answer, unfortunately. On this part: "Then work A.1 in the round over all stitches - work 22 repetitions of A.1 on round." Is this 22 rows or, 22 times the whole A1 pattern? -- I am in the very beginning working in the round both back and front parts together, just after the rib at the bottom. Thank you
22.06.2024 - 10:00DROPS Design answered:
Dear Susana, it is NOT rows. It is the A.1 pattern repeated 22 times, besides each other. Happy Knitting!

---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagram A.1. The diagram shows the pattern seen from right side. DECREASE TIP (applies to armholes): All decreases are done from the right side! DECREASE AT BEGINNING OF ROW AS FOLLOWS: Knit 2, slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 1 stitch decreased). DECREASE AT END OF ROW AS FOLLOWS: Work until 4 stitches remain on row, knit the next 2 together, knit 2 (= 1 stitch decreased) ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- TOP - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed. Piece is worked in the round on circular needle, from the bottom and up to armholes. Divide the piece for front piece and back piece and finish each part separately back and forth. Sew shoulders together. Finish by picking up stitches around the neck and work a neck edge in the round. BODY: Cast on 212-232-248-268-308-344 stitches on circular needle size 3 mm with DROPS Cotton Light or DROPS Cotton Merino. Work rib (= knit 2/purl 2) for 2 cm. Switch to circular needle size 4 mm. Insert 1 marker thread at beginning of round. Knit 1 round while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 8-8-12-12-12-16 stitches evenly = 220-240-260-280-320-360 stitches. Then work A.1 in the round over all stitches - work 22-24-26-28-32-36 repetitions of A.1 on round. Repeat A.1 vertically. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! Work until piece measures 33-34-35-36-37-38 cm - adjust so that next round is an uneven numbered round in pattern (when cable needles are from right side when working back and forth afterwards). Now divide the piece for front piece and back piece. DIVIDING FOR FRONT PIECE AND BACK PIECE: On next round divide piece for front piece and back piece, and work round as follows: Cast off the first 4-14-14-4-14-34 stitches on round for armhole, work 106-106-116-136-146-146 stitches, cast off the next 4-14-14-4-14-34 stitches for armhole, work 106-106-116-136-146-146 stitches. Now work front piece and back piece back and forth on needle until finished measurements. BACK PIECE: = 106-106-116-136-146-146 stitches. Continue pattern back and forth with 3 stitches in stocking stitch in each side. Work 1st row from wrong side, and work stitches that do not fit a whole cable while decreasing for armholes in stocking stitch. In each side decrease stitches for armholes - read DECREASE TIP, decrease as follows on every other row: Decrease 1 stitch 5-4-4-16-16-16 times in each side, then decrease as follows every 4th row: 2-3-3-1-1-1 times in each side = 92-92-102-102-112-112 stitches. When piece measures 48-50-52-54-56-58 cm, cast off the middle 46-46-56-56-66-66 stitches for neck and finish each shoulder separately. Work back and forth as before, at the same time cast off for neck on every other row as follows: Cast off 2 stitches 1 time, and 1 stitch 1 time = 20 stitches for shoulder. Then work as before until piece measures 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm. Cast off. FRONT PIECE: = 106-106-116-136-146-146 stitches. Work the same way as front piece until piece measures 46-48-49-50-51-52 cm. Slip the middle 34-34-44-44-54-54 stitches on a thread for neck and finish each shoulder separately. Work back and forth as before, at the same time cast off for neck on every other row as follows: Cast off 3 stitches 1 time, 2 stitches 2 times, and 1 stitch 2 times = 20 stitches for shoulder. Cast off when piece measures 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams. NECK EDGE: Use circular needle / double pointed needles size 3 mm, pick up stitches around the neck from right side as follows: Begin at one shoulder seam and pick up approx. 116-116-140-140-164-164 stitches (including stitches on thread mid front) – number of stitches must be divisible by 4. Work rib (knit 2/purl 2) in the round for 2 cm. Cast off. |
