Bon tricot!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows, from both the right and wrong side. 1 ridge in height = knit 2 rows. GARTER STITCH (worked in the round): Alternately knit 1 round and purl 1 round. 1 ridge in height = 2 rounds. PATTERN: See diagram A.1. The diagram shows all rows in the pattern seen from the right side. INCREASE TIP (for sleeves): Work to the marker-thread, make 1 yarn over, work the marker-stitch, 1 yarn over. On the next round work the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes (2 increased stitches). Then work the new stitches into the pattern. BUTTONHOLES: When working the bands, work 6-6-6-7-7-7 buttonholes on the right front piece by skipping ½ cm and making 1 yarn over. Work the first buttonhole 6-7-8-4-5-6 cm up from the bottom edge, then the other buttonholes with approx. 6-6-6-5-5-5 cm between each one – the last buttonhole is worked 1 cm below the neckline. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JACKET – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE. The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The piece is worked back and forth bottom up as far as the armholes, then divided for the front and back pieces which are finished separately. The sleeves are worked in the round bottom up as far as the armholes, then finished back and forth. The pieces are sewn together. Stitches are knitted up along each front piece and around the neckline and the bands/neck worked back and forth. Pockets are worked and sewn to the front pieces to finish. BODY: Cast on 177-193-209-229-249-269 stitches with circular needle size 4.5 mm and 2 strands DROPS Safran or 1 strand DROPS Paris colour off white. Work 2 ridges back and forth – see GARTER STITCH above. Knit 1 row from the right side. Insert 2 markers from the right side, without working the stitches, which are used when decreasing in each side: Count 45-49-53-58-63-68 stitches (= front piece), insert 1 marker in the next stitch, count 85-93-101-111-121-131 stitches (= back piece), insert 1 marker in the next stitch, there are 45-49-53-58-63-68 stitches left after the second marker (= front piece). Allow the markers to follow your work onwards. Change to 2 strands colour desert rose DROPS Safran or 1 strand colour powder pink DROPS Paris and work PATTERN – read description above: Work A.1 (moss stitch) back and forth over all stitches. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When the piece measures 8 cm and the next row is from the right side, decrease 2 stitches in each side as follows: Work to 1 stitch before the first marker-stitch, knit/purl 3 together (depending on the pattern), keep the marker in this stitch, repeat at the second marker (= 4 decreased stitches). Decrease like this every 6-4-4-4-4-4 cm a total of 3-4-4-4-4-4 times = 165-177-193-213-233-253 stitches. Continue with moss stitch until the piece measures 31-32-33-34-35-36 cm. Now divide for the front and back pieces. DIVIDE FOR FRONT AND BACK PIECES: Work 39-41-43-47-50-54 stitches (= front piece), cast off 7-9-13-15-19-21 stitches for the armhole (marker-stitch is the middle stitch), work 73-77-81-89-95-103 stitches (= back piece), cast off 7-9-13-15-19-21 stitches for the armhole (marker-stitch is the middle stitch), work the last 39-41-43-47-50-54 stitches (= front piece). The front and back pieces are finished separately. FRONT PIECES: = 39-41-43-47-50-54 stitches. Continue A.1 back and forth. You now cast off for the armhole AT THE SAME TIME as casting off for the neckline. Read the next section before continuing. Cast off for the armhole every 2nd row: 2 stitches 1-1-1-2-2-3 times, 1 stitch 2-3-4-5-7-8 times, then cast off every 4th row: 1 stitch 2-2-2-2-2-2 times = 33-34-35-36-37-38 stitches. AT THE SAME TIME when the piece measures 37-38-39-40-41-42 cm, cast off for the neckline every 2nd row: 12-12-12-12-12-12 stitches 1-1-1-1-1-1 time, 3 stitches 1-1-1-1-1-1 time and 1 stitch 4-4-5-5-6-6 times = 14-15-15-16-16-17 shoulder-stitches. Cast off when the piece measures 50-52-54-56-58-60 cm. BACK PIECE: = 73-77-81-89-95-103 stitches. Continue A.1 back and forth, casting off on each side for the armholes every 2nd row: 2 stitches 1-1-1-2-2-3 times, 1 stitch 2-3-4-5-7-8 times. Then cast off every 4th row: 1 stitch 2-2-2-2-2-2 times = 61-63-65-67-69-71 stitches. When the piece measures 47-49-51-53-55-57 cm, cast off the middle 29-29-31-31-33-33 stitches for the neckline and finish each shoulder separately. SHOULDERS: = 16-17-17-18-18-19 stitches. Continue A.1 and cast off 2 stitches for the neckline 1-1-1-1-1-1 time = 14-15-15-16-16-17 stitches. Work until the piece measures 50-52-54-56-58-60 cm. Cast off. SLEEVES: The sleeves are worked in the round. Cast on 43-45-47-49-51-53 stitches with circular needle/double pointed needles size 4.5 mm and 2 strands DROPS Safran or 1 strand DROPS Paris colour off white. Insert 1 marker in the first stitch on the round (= mid-under sleeve). Allow the marker to follow your work onwards, it is used when increasing under the sleeve. Work 2 ridges in the round, then knit 1 round. Change to 2 strands colour desert rose DROPS Safran or 1 strand colour powder pink DROPS Paris and work A.1 over all stitches. When the sleeve measures 4-7-8-7-6-5 cm, increase 1 stitch on each side of the marker-stitch – read INCREASE TIP! Increase like this every 3-2½-2-2-2-2 cm a total of 14-14-16-16-16-16 times = 71-73-79-81-83-85 stitches. Continue with A.1 until the sleeve measures 45-44-43-41-40-38 cm. SLEEVE CAP: On the next round cast off 7-9-13-15-19-21 stitches under the sleeve (marker-stitch is the middle stitch, start casting off 3-4-6-7-9-10 stitches before the marker-stitch) = 64-64-66-66-64-64 stitches. Work back and forth as before, casting off as follows: 1 stitch on each side every 2nd-3rd-4th-5th-6th-8th row until the sleeve measures 55-55-56-56-57-57 cm = approx. 34-42-46-48-48-50 stitches. Knit all stitches together 2 and 2 = approx. 17-21-23-24-24-25 stitches. Cast off. The sleeve measures approx. 55-55-56-56-57-57 cm. ASSEMBLY-1: Sew the shoulder seams. Sew the sleeve to the armhole – any extra material is gathered on the shoulder. BAND/NECK: Insert 1 marker mid-back on the back piece. Using needle size 4.5 mm and 2 strands colour desert rose DROPS Safran or 1 strand colour powder pink DROPS Paris, knit up from the right side over the pink stitches along the front pieces as follows: Start at the bottom of the right front piece and knit up inside 1 stitch approx. 65-66-68-70-72-74 stitches (including the yarn overs from the buttonholes) along front piece, AT THE SAME TIME as working BUTTONHOLES – read description above. Then knit up approx. 95-97-103-105-111-113 stitches around the neck, with the same number of stitches on each side of the marker mid-back. Knit up approx. 65-66-68-70-72-74 stitches inside 1 stitch down the left front piece = approx. 225-229-239-245-255-261 stitches (approx. 18 stitches per 10 cm). Change to 2 strands DROPS Safran or 1 strand DROPS Paris colour off white, and work back and forth as follows: ROW 1: Start from the right side (bottom of right front piece) by knitting up 2 stitches in the off-white ridges, knit to end of row, then knit up 2 stitches in the off-white ridges on the other side = approx. 229-233-243-249-259-265 stitches. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Knit. ROW 3 (= right side): Knit. ROW 4 (= wrong side): Knit and increase by making 1 yarn over on each side of 1 stitch in each transition between bands and neck; this avoids the transition being tight (= 4 increased stitches) ROW 5 (= right side): Cast off, casting off the yarn overs as normal stitches. POCKETS: Cast on 19-21-23-25-29-31 stitches with double pointed needles size 4.5 mm and 2 strands DROPS Safran or 1 strand DROPS Paris colour off white. Work garter stitch back and forth for 9-10-11-12-14-15 cm, then work as follows: Knit 9-10-11-12-14-15 stitches, pick up the middle stitch in garter stitch in piece approx. 2 cm above the cast-on edge and place it on the needle (makes a fold), knit 2 stitches together and knit to end of row. Work garter stitch back and forth until the pocket measures 11-12-13-14-16-17 cm along the side. Cast off. Work 1 more pocket. Sew the pockets to the front pieces, 7-7-8-8-8-9 cm above the bottom edge - see photo. ASSEMBLY-2: Sew the buttons onto the left band. |
