Bon crochet!

Also I don't understand what the number with Ø sign means in general - is that an interval (i.e. I have to do an increase every 3 stiches with Ø3) or is that a number of stitches I have to add to the row? (so I just have to do an increase 3 times?) Or is there something else? I'm fairly new to crocheting with a pattern, so it's a bit confusing and I could really use some help (your tutorials and FAQs were super helpful though)!
01.06.2023 - 16:15DROPS Design answered:
Dear Elisabeth, this symbol is the one you can find in the diagrams for example you can find Ø-1 on the 2nd row A.5 and A.6; Ø-2 just above A.y in the same diagram, etc.. this symbol (+ its number) are then explained in the written pattern, when you meet this symbol in the diagram, you have to work as explained in the written pattern. Happy crocheting!

Hello! I've recently started crocheting this one and I seem to have a problem with increase in A.3b and A.3c, like I can do it technically, but I don't get how to count it. How many stitches are supposed to be in a row with a Ø3 once I'm done with it (considering there are 146 in S/M size to begin with and 20 on this diagram)? And with Ø4 in A.3c? Where am I supposed to add it? Like the row in A.3b has a stack of double crochets in one chain space - do I just add one extra there?
01.06.2023 - 16:09DROPS Design answered:
Dear Elisabeth, you are working on back piece over 146 sts - this means you have decreased by Ø-2 already, and then work A.1 (3 sts), repeat A.3b a total of 7 times (= A.3b = 20 sts x 7 = 140 sts), and finish with A.1 over the last 3 stitches. Can this help? The symbols Ø-3 and Ø-4 are not worked on back piece, only apply to front piece. Happy crocheting!

What is the purpose of skipping chains in the beginning of each piece? As here: “Work 80-93-104 chain stitches (including 3 chain stitches to turn with) on hook size 4 mm = US 6 with Cotton Merino. Turn and work 1 double crochet in 4th chain stitch from hook (= 2 double crochets), 1 double crochet in each of the next 4-5-4 chain stitches, * skip 1 chain stitch, 1 double crochet in each of the next 5 chain stitches”.
25.08.2022 - 04:33DROPS Design answered:
Dear Jessica, most of the time the foundation chain is tighter than the rest of the piece, working more chain stitches at the beginning and then skipping chains evenly will allow to give a loose edge. If your chain stitches are as large as 1 stitch in width, you can cast on the number of sts required - just make sure your foundation chain won't be tight. Happy crocheting!

I’ve gone over the FAQ and the lessons but I have no idea what this means “ Work A.1 over the first 3 stitches – read CROCHET INFORMATION, repeat A.3a until 3 stitches remain (= 7-8-9 times in width), finish by working A.1 over the last 3 stitches. When A.3a has been worked, continue A.3b and then on A.3c, repeat A.1 vertically until finished measurements.”….. A.1 seems to be a stack of multiple rows and I don’t understand how it could be worked three times in one row to being with.
18.08.2022 - 22:38DROPS Design answered:
Dear Jessica, this lesson explains how to read crochet diagrams, Work A.1 over the first 3 sts means to repeat A.1 3 times (= 1 double crochet (US-English) x 3 ), then repeat 7,8 or 9 times the 20 sts in A.3, 3 sts remain on row which you work as shown in A.1 ( = 3 double crochets). Happy crocheting!
