Dear Mrs Hattingh, you will work several diagrams at the same time, including M.6 over the middle stitches on front and back pieces - read more about diagrams here; under Several different diagrams worked consecutively on the row/round: ; note that all diagrams are not worked over the same numbers of row but repeat each diagram in height to continue that pattern over these stitches. Knitting Tension: 20sts x 26 rows on needles size 4mm in pattern M1 = 10x10cm. Rib: K1, P1. Pattern: See diagram. Pattern is read from right to left, and is seen from RS. Back and Front knitted as one piece in the round, then divided at armhole and back and front knitted separately. ----------------------------------------------------- Body: Figures in () = Gents sizes. Cast on 206-214 (196-204) sts on long circ needles size 2.5mm with blue. Work 4 (6) cm rib. Lady: Change to circ needle size 4mm, work 2 rounds in stocking st and at the same time increase 34-42 sts evenly on round = 240-256 sts. Work M.1, M.2, M.1 (place 1 repeat of M.2 centre front). Remember to check your tension. K 1 round and at the same time inc 48-48 sts evenly on round = 288-304 sts. Gents: Change to needle size 4mm and at the same time inc (92-100) sts evenly on round = (288-304) sts. Continue working pattern as follows: Lady and Gent: *8-12 (8-12) sts in M.3, M.4, 10 sts in M.3, M.5, M.6, M.7, 10 sts in M.3, M.4, 8-12 (8-12) sts in M.3*. Repeat from * - * across back. Continue until piece measures 39-43 (34-36) cm. Divide the work and knit the back and front separately. Front: = 144-152 (144-152) sts. Continue until piece measures 65-69 (60-62) cm. Cast off centre 44-44 (44-44) sts for neck. Work each side separately back and forth on needle. Decrease at neck edge on every other row as follows: 4 sts. once, 2 sts twice. Continue until piece measures 69-73 (64-66) cm (adjust to pattern repeat). Cast off. Back: = 144-152 (144-152) sts. Continue until piece measures 67-71 (62-64) cm. Cast off centre 52-52 (52-52) sts for neck. Work each side separately back and forth on needle. Decrease at neck edge on every other row as follows: 2 sts. twice. Continue until piece measures 69-73 (64-66) cm (adjust to pattern repeat). ast off. Sleeves: Cast on 48-48 (50-50) sts on double pointed needles size 2.5mm with blue. Work 5 cm rib. Continue in pattern as follows: 22 sts in M.3, M.4, 22 sts in M.3. At the same time inc underneath sleeve each side of centre st as follows: 1 st 30-30 (30-30) times for Lady: every 3rd round, for Gent: alternatively every *3rd and 4th* round = 125-125 (125-125) sts. Work inc sts in M.3. Continue until piece measures 47-46 (51-51) cm. Cast off centre 9 sts under arm finishing each side separately knitting back and forth. Dec each side on every other row: 6 sts. 4 times. Cast off. Piece measures approx 50-49 (54-54) cm. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Pick up 120 sts around neck opening on double pointed needles size 2.5mm with blue. Work approx 7 (4) cm in M.8. (end on 4th round), work 1 round in stocking st, P1 round, cast off. Sew sleeves to body in edge st to avoid seam being to bulky. Lady: Crochet edge at bottom of body and around neck as follows: * 1 dc in 1st st, 3 ch sts, 1 dc in 1st ch st, skip 2 sts*. Repeat from * - *. |
