Hello, I ma a bit confused hoe the tummy and back are joined. Could you please help?
05.01.2025 - 21:42DROPS Design answered:
Dear Paula, after you have worked the last row from RS on tummy, you have cast on 2-3-4 new sts, so you continue working from the right side the stitches from back piece starting with the 34-48-60 sts and ending with the 2-3-4 new stitches cast on on last row = you have now 50-70-86 sts on needle, join and work in the round all stitches. Happy knitting!

Hi! I’m trying to get started on this pattern but I’m stuck after the initial ribbing! It says to cast on 64 stitches, work ribbing, then “adjust” the stitch count to 86. What does that mean? I can’t figure out where the increase in stitches comes from. How do I adjust it?
18.03.2024 - 06:14DROPS Design answered:
Hi Amy, The "adjustment" of stitches means to increase in some sizes and decrease in others. In your size you need to increase 22 stitches evenly spaced on the knitted round. Make 1 yarn over after approx. every 2nd stitch and knit these yarn overs twisted on the next round to avoid holes. Happy crafting!

Hej Pernille, Du kan finde målene på de forskellige størrelser i måleskitsen nederst i opskriften. Her er det tydeligt hvor du skal måle hunden, så blusen kommer til at passe :)

Knitted dog’s jumper in DROPS Nepal. The piece is worked from neck to tail. Sizes XS-S-M.
DROPS 245-32 |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge = knit 2 rows. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- DOG’S JUMPER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Piece is worked from neck towards tail. The neck and yoke are worked in the round on circular needle/double pointed needles, then the piece is divided to leave an opening for the front legs. The back and tummy are worked back and forth until the opening is finished, joined and continued in the round before casting off under the tummy and finished back and forth. An edge is worked along the bottom of the jumper and around the front leg openings. NECK AND YOKE: Cast on 52-56-64 stitches with colour red DROPS Nepal on double pointed needles/short circular needle size 4 mm. Work rib in the round (knit 2, purl 2) for 9-10-11 cm. Knit 1 round and adjust the stitch count to 50-70-86 stitches. Insert a marker here to measure from. Change to needle size 5 mm and colour cerise. Continue in the round with stocking stitch for a further 4-6-8 cm. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! Work the next round as follows: Cast off 2-3-4 stitches for the front legs, knit 12-16-18 stitches then place these stitches on an extra needle (tummy), cast off 2-3-4 stitches for the front legs and knit to end of row. The back and tummy are continued separately, back and forth. BACK: = 34-48-60 stitches. Start from the wrong side and work stocking stitch with 1 edge stitch on each side in GARTER STITCH – read description above. Work back and forth for a further 9-10-13 cm. On the next row from the right side, cast on 2-3-4 stitches at the end of the row = 36-51-64 stitches. Cut the strand and work the tummy. TUMMY: = 12-16-18 stitches. Place the stitches on double pointed needles size 5 mm and continue back and forth with stocking stitch and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch on each side for 9-10-13 cm. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the row ((6-8-9 stitches on each side) = mid-under tummy – allow the thread to follow your work onwards, it is used later when casting off under the tummy. On the next row from the right side, cast on 2-3-4 stitches at the end of the row = 14-19-22 stitches. The tummy and back are now joined; do not cut the strand. BODY: The last row on the tummy was from the right side, continue over the back stitches from the right side = 50-70-86 stitches. Work stocking stitch in the round over all stitches for a further 5-5-8 cm; 3 cm left to finished length under the tummy and 8-11-11 cm on the back. Try the jumper on and work to desired length. On the next round cast off 12-16-20 stitches under the tummy (6-8-10 stitches on each side of the marker-thread), knit to end of row. Continue back and forth with stocking stitch, at the same time as you cast off at the beginning of each row on each side as follows: 3 stitches 1 time, 2 stitches 1-2-2 times, 1 stitch 1-2-2 times, 2 stitches 1-2-2 times and 3 stitches 1 time. When you have finished casting off there are 16-22-34 stitches left and the piece measures approx. 23-29-37 cm from the marker (measured along the back). Cut the strand and place all stitches on a thread or an other needle. BOTTOM EDGE: Knit up stitches along the bottom edge as follows. Start from the right side, mid-under the tummy, with double pointed needles/circular needle size 4 mm and colour cerise. Knit up approx. 18-27-31 stitches along the side of the body as far as the stitches on the thread/extra needle, knit these 16-22-34 stitches, knit up approx. 18-27-31 stitches along the other side, back to mid-under tummy. There are approx. 52-76-96 stitches (stitch count should be divisible by 4; increase or decrease the stitch number if necessary on the next round). Change to colour red and work rib in the round (knit 2, purl 2) for 3 cm. Cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl. EDGE AROUND FRONT LEG OPENINGS: Use double pointed needles size 4 mm and colour red. Knit up 36 to 52 stitches inside 1 stitch around one opening (stitch count should be divisible by 4; increase or decrease the stitch number if necessary on the next round). Work rib in the round (knit 2, purl 2) for 4-5-6 cm. Cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl. Work an edge around the other opening in the same way. |
