Zeitloses Design - super!

I'm confused on how to do the neckline. When it says "Cast off X number of stitches + steek at mid front" - does that mean X number on BOTH sides of the steek, OR half of X on right side and half on left side of steek? OR Cast Off steek and half of X sts on right side, continue around, AND cast off X number of sts at mid back, too, then continue and cast off half of X sts on left side ? ALSO, complete both sides separately = back & forth on straight needles, breaking yarn to attach again?
03.05.2019 - 03:27DROPS Design answered:
Dear Sharon, it means that you have to cast off teh steak's stitches plus the number of stitches given in the pattern. Finishing the two shoulders separately, yes, you have to do it back and forth , and reattach the yarn if necessary. Happy Knitting!

Knitting tension: 20 sts x 26 rows on needles size 4 mm in pattern = 10 x 10 cm. Rib: *K1, P1*, repeat from *-*. Pattern: the entire pattern is knitted in stocking st. Front and back piece: Knitted in the round on circular needles after the Rib and cut for armholes and mid front afterwards. Cast on 130-138 (144-152-160) sts on circular needle size 2.5mm with black and knit 5 cm Rib back and forth on needle. Change to circular needle size 4 mm and continue in the round in stocking st, at the same time inc 32-36 (42-46-50) sts evenly on first round = 162-174 (186-198-210) sts. Now inc 5 sts mid front (to be cut afterwards and not included in pattern, but knitted in black) and continue in pattern. Remember the knitting tension! When piece measures 20-23 (25-27-27) cm inc 5 sts each side for armhole (to be cut for armholes afterwards and not included in pattern, but knitted in black). When piece measures 37-40 (44-46-48) cm cast off 31-31 (33-35-35) sts mid front + 5 sts to be cut, for neck and complete each side separately. Dec to shape the neckline on every other row: 2 sts 1 time and 1 st 1 time. Cast off remaining sts when piece measures 40-43 (47-49-51) cm. Sleeve: Knitted round on double pointed needles. Cast on 30-32 (34-36-36) sts on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm with black and knit 5 cm Rib. Change to needle size 4 mm and continue in stocking st, at the same time inc 10-10 (10-12-14) sts evenly on first round = 40-42 (44-48-50) sts. Now continue in pattern – make sure to place a pattern repeat mid upper sleeve - at the same time, inc 2 sts mid under arm a total of 20-19 (22-20-23) times as follows: Size 3/4: on every other and every 3rd round alternately Size 5/6: on every * 3rd, 3rd and 4th * round alternately Size 7/8: on every 3rd round Size 9/10: on every 4th round Size 11/12 years: on every *3rd, 3rd and 4th * round alternately = 80-80 (88-88-96) sts – incorporate the new sts in pattern as you go along. When piece measures 26-30 (33-37-40) cm knit 2 cm in reverse stocking st = edge for sewing on sleeve to body piece. Cast off and knit the other sleeve. Assembly: Insert a marking thread in the middle of the inc sts for armhole each side and mid front. Make 2 seams each side on your sewing machine, the first seam ½ st from the MT and the other one ½ st from the first one. Cut the piece between these for armholes and mid front. Sew shoulder seams. Right front edge: Pick up approx 82-88 (92-96-100) sts on needle size 3 mm with black, knit 3 cm stocking st, P 1 row = folding edge, knit 3 cm stocking st, cast off. Left front edge: as right front edge, but after 1 cm make 5 buttonholes evenly distributed on row. 1 buttonhole = cast off 2 sts and cast on 2 new sts on return row. After the folding edge knit 1.5 cm stocking sts and make buttonholes. Fold edges double towards WS and fasten. Neckline: Pick up approx 76-90 sts round the neck on needle size 2.5 mm with black and knit 6 cm Rib, cast off, fold neck double towards WS and fasten. Set in sleeves from the RS as follows: sew in the last row before the edge in reverse stocking sts on sleeves to the first row after the seam in the sts for cutting on body piece. Turn the jumper inside out and sew the piece in stocking sts over the cutting edge on body piece. Sew on buttons. |
