There’s an issue with the total number of stitches counted in each section of the yoke. The numbers that are displayed do not add up to the total number of stitches after the increases. I am knitting size medium and calculated the following stitches after the increases: 32 , 31, 31 and 30. The pattern shows 30, 30, 30, and 30, which does not sum to 124 stitches

Hi Jacki, The stitches on the front and back pieces and sleeves are correct at 30 stitches each. In addition you have the 4 marker-stitches = 124 stitches in total. Regards, Drops team.

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- STRIPES-1 (for neck): The stripes are worked in rib in the following order: 3-3-3-4-4-4-4 rounds with colour Blue Haze, 2 rounds with colour Light Beige, 2-2-2-3-3-3-3 rounds with colour Blue Haze, 2 rounds with colour Light Beige, 3-3-3-4-4-4-4 rounds with colour Blue Haze. STRIPES-2 (for body and sleeves): The stripes are worked in rib in the following order: 3-3-3-3-4-4-4 rounds with colour Blue Haze, 2-2-2-2-3-3-3 rounds with colour Light Beige, 2-2-2-2-3-3-3 rounds with colour Blue Haze, 2-2-2-2-3-3-3 rounds with colour Light Beige, 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 rounds with colour Blue Haze. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.4. The pattern is worked in stocking stitch. RAGLAN: Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over with colour Blue Haze, which is worked as follows on the next round: BEFORE RAGLAN-STITCHES (yarn over twists to the right): Slip the yarn-over purl-wise from the left to the right needle, place it back onto the left needle by inserting the left needle through the back (the yarn over is now the other way round). Knit through the stitch loop that lies on the front of the needle (avoids a hole). Work the new stitches into the pattern. AFTER RAGLAN-STITCHES (yarn over twists to the left): Knit through the stitch loop that lies on the back of the needle (avoids a hole). Work the new stitches into the pattern. INCREASE TIP, for transition to rib: When increasing evenly on the first round of rib, it is important to increase in the stitches that will subsequently be purled, so the knitted stitches continue neatly from the stocking stitch. SLEEVE TIP: When knitting up stitches under the sleeve, you can be left with a small hole in the transition between the stitches on the body and sleeve. This hole can be closed by picking up the strand between 2 stitches and working this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread with colour Blue haze as follows: Work until there are 2 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, marker-thread, slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, top down and from the right back shoulder, increasing for raglan. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for the body and sleeves and the body is continued in the round, while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked top down, in the round. NECK: Cast on 112-112-116-128-128-136-136 stitches with circular needle size 2.5 mm and colour Blue Haze DROPS Fiesta, or work Italian cast-on. Work rib in the round (purl 1 and knit 1) and STRIPES-1 – read explanation above. When the stripes are finished the neck measures approx. 4 cm in all sizes. The round begins on the right back shoulder and follows the raglan-line until you divide for the body and sleeves. Insert 1 marker after the first 43-43-44-47-47-49-49 stitches (approx. mid-front), without working the stitches. The marker is used for measuring. YOKE: Continue with circular needle size 4 mm and colour Blue Haze. Knit 1 round and insert 4 markers, each in its own stitch. This stitch + 1 stitch on each side (3 stitches) are the raglan-stitches and you increase for raglan on each side of these 3 raglan-stitches. The raglan-stitches are worked in colour-pattern according to diagram A.1. Insert marker-1 in the 2nd stitch on the round (knitted stitch), knit 27 and increase 3 stitches evenly across these stitches (= 30 sleeve-stitches), insert marker-2 in the next stitch (knitted stitch), knit 27-27-29-35-35-39-39 and increase 3-3-1-7-7-3-3 stitches evenly across these stitches (= 30-30-30-42-42-42-42 stitches on the front piece), insert marker-3 in the next stitch (knitted stitch), knit 27 and increase 3 stitches evenly across these stitches (= 30 sleeve-stitches), insert marker-4 in the next stitch (knitted stitch), knit 26-26-28-34-34-38-38 and increase 3-3-1-7-7-3-3 stitches evenly across these stitches (= 30-30-30-42-42-42-42 stitches on the back piece). You have increased 12-12-8-20-20-12-12 stitches evenly on the round = 124-124-124-148-148-148-148 stitches. The round begins just before the raglan-line in the transition between the back piece and the right sleeve and follows the raglan-line to where you divide for the body and sleeves. Work PATTERN in the round and increase for RAGLAN on each side of the raglan-stitches – read explanation above for how to increase, as follows. ROUND 1: Work A.1 across the first 3 raglan-stitches, increase 1 stitch for raglan, work A.2, then A.3 2 times, A.4 (= sleeve), increase 1 stitch for raglan, work A.1 across the 3 raglan-stitches, increase 1 stitch for raglan, work A.2, A.3 2-2-2-3-3-3-3 times, A.4 (= front piece), increase 1 stitch for raglan, work A.1 across the 3 raglan-stitches, increase 1 stitch for raglan, work A.2, A.3 2 times, A.4 (= sleeve), increase 1 stitch for raglan, work A.1 across the 3 raglan-stitches, increase 1 stitch for raglan, work A.2, A.3 2-2-2-3-3-3-3 times, A.4 (= back piece), increase 1 stitch for raglan. The pattern has been established and you have increased 8 stitches for raglan. ROUND 2: Continue the pattern without increasing (yarn overs are worked as described in RAGLAN). Work ROUNDS 1 and 2 a total of 18-18-20-24-26-24-24 times (36-36-40-48-52-48-48 rounds worked). NOTE: The increased stitches are worked into the pattern as shown in A.2 to A.4. When diagrams A.2 to A.4 are finished in height, there is room for 2 more repeats of A.3 in width. The sleeve-increases are finished. There are 268-268-284-340-356-340-340 stitches. Continue increasing for raglan on the front and back pieces every 2nd round 6-8-10-8-6-10-14 more times (4 increased stitches on each increase-round), continuing the established pattern on the sleeves without increasing. When all the increases are finished, you have increased 18-18-20-24-26-24-24 times in height on the sleeves and 24-26-30-32-32-34-38 times in height on the front and back pieces = 292-300-324-372-380-380-396 stitches. The yoke measures approx. 17-19-21-23-23-24-27 cm from the marker mid-front. On the next round, decrease 1 stitch in each raglan-line, i.e., knit together the 2 last stitches in each A.1 using colour Blue Haze (4 decreased stitches) = 288-296-320-368-376-376-392 stitches. A.1 is finished. Now divide for the body and sleeves; the round begins before 2 raglan-stitches in the transition between the back piece and the right sleeve. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES When dividing, the raglan-stitches will be on the front and back pieces. Knit the first 5 stitches in pattern A.3, matching the pattern from the yoke (these stitches belong to the back piece), place the next 58-58-62-70-74-70-70 stitches on a stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 10-18-22-18-18-26-30 stitches with colour Blue Haze (mid-under the sleeve), work the next 86-90-98-114-114-118-126 stitches in pattern as before (= front piece), place the next 58-58-62-70-74-70-70 stitches on a stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 10-18-22-18-18-26-30 stitches (mid-under the sleeve) with colour Blue Haze, work the last 81-85-93-109-109-113-121 stitches in pattern as before (= back piece). Cut the strand. The body and sleeves are finished separately. BODY: = 192-216-240-264-264-288-312 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 10-18-22-18-18-26-30 cast-on stitches under one sleeve. Begin the round by the marker and work A.3 in the round; NOTE: Make sure the pattern matches the pattern on the yoke and count stitches back to the marker to find out where to begin working the diagram under the sleeve. Work until the piece measures 49-51-53-55-56-58-60 cm from the marker mid-front. Knit 3 rounds with colour Blue Haze. Change to circular needle size 2.5 mm. Work rib (knit 1 and purl 1) and STRIPES-2 – read explanation above. AT THE SAME TIME increase 34-38-44-52-52-60-62 stitches evenly on the first round – read INCREASE TIP = 226-254-284-316-316-348-374 stitches. When the stripes are finished, the rib measures approx. 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm. Cast off with rib or work Italian cast-off. The jumper measures approx. 53-55-57-59-61-63-65 cm from the marker mid-front and 60-62-64-66-68-70-72 cm from the shoulder. SLEEVES: Place the 58-58-62-70-74-70-70 sleeve-stitches from one stitch holder onto circular needle size 4 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 10-18-22-18-18-26-30 cast-on stitches under the sleeve – read SLEEVE TIP = 68-76-84-88-92-96-100 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the 10-18-22-18-18-26-30 new stitches under the sleeve. The round starts by the marker-thread. Work A.3 in the round, making sure the pattern matches the pattern on the yoke. The pattern will not fit under the sleeve in all sizes; work pattern as far as it will go and always work the 2 stitches mid-under the sleeve with colour Blue Haze. AT THE SAME TIME, when the sleeve measures 1 cm from the division, decrease mid-under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP as follows: Decrease 2 stitches every 10-5½-4-4-3½-2½-2½ cm a total of 4-8-12-11-13-15-14 times = 60-60-60-66-66-66-72 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 50-50-49-46-45-43-42 cm from the division. Knit 3 rounds with colour Blue Haze. Change to double pointed needles size 2.5 mm. Work rib (knit 1 and purl 1) and STRIPES-2. AT THE SAME TIME increase 10-10-10-8-8-8-10 stitches evenly on the first round – remember INCREASE TIP = 70-70-70-74-74-74-82 stitches. When the stripes are finished, the rib measures approx. 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm. Cast off with rib, or work Italian cast-off. The sleeve measures approx. 54-54-53-50-50-48-47 cm from the division. |
