Hood

When you want to add a knitted hood to a garment you pick up sts from the right side around the neck opening or knit the hood separate as in the video and sew it to the garment afterward. Work back and forth on needles until desired length of hood.
In our video we are working in stockinette with 3 sts in garter each side toward the face opening.
When the hood is finished, you bind off, fold double and sew from RS with stitches the same size as the knitted stitches. The seam will be invisible.
An alternative to bind off is to do a 3-needle bind off, or sew together the sides with kitchener sts, and you can find separate videos for that in our video library.

Bonjour Christine, il n'y a pas d'explications ni de nombre de mailles ni de rangs etc... car la vidéo n'est qu'une illustration de la technique des capuches tricotées dans nombre de nos modèles et pas un modèle à tricoter pas à pas; pour des exemples de capuches adulte, enfant ou bébé, reportez-vous à un de nos modèles. Insert 1 marker on the top of armhole (NB: This is not where the stitches were knitted up for the front piece, but a few cm down on the front piece, this is the middle of the shoulder). Start in the middle of the new stitches cast on under sleeve and pick up the number of stitches it says in the pattern around the armhole – adjust so that there are the same number of stitches along armhole on each side of the marker. Now work stockinette stitch back and forth with short rows over sleeve cap, to give the sleeve a better fit. Then work in the round with decreases under the sleeve. In this DROPS video we show how to work a simple v-neck in rib with 1 knit / 1 purl. The same technique can be used in the rib when knit 2 / purl 2. First, we show how we knit up stitches, then we knit all the stitches from the wrong side, then we work the rib and at the same time on every 2nd row we decrease 2 stitches mid-front as follows: Work until there is 1 stitch left before the knitted stitch mid-front, slip 2 stitches as if to knit together, knit 1, pass the 2 slipped stitches over the knitted stitch (= 2 stitches decreased). This gives you a neat edge and the knitted stitch follows in a straight line. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video. In this DROPS video we show how we work a double knitted V-neck. The neck should be worked in the round, but we only show parts of what happens on the front piece. We are showing: 1) Time: 00.04-01.36. How to put the 2 mid-stiches on a needle and knit, and at the same time knit up stitches from the right side on the neckline. Insert 1 marker between the 2 mid-stitches; these stitches are always knitted. Knit up 2 more stitches on the left side, but the number of stitches must be divisible by 4. 2) Time: 01:37 -03:12. Count back to the beginning of the round so the mid-stitches are knitted when working rib. Work rib (knit 2, purl 2), until there are 2 stitches left before the marker, knit 2 together (even it one stitch should have been a purl stitch), then slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch = 2 knitted stitches mid-front, purl 1 stitch and continue the rib to the end of the round. 3) Time: 03:13 -04:10. Decrease like this on the next round. Above the 6 middle stitches, there will then only be knitted stitches. 4) Time: 04:12 -04:29. Work in the round and decrease on every round until the finish measurement. 5) Time: 04:30-05:52. Work 1 round without decreasing = folding edge. 6) Time: 05:54-08:21. Now increase on each side of the mid-stitches every round as follows: Work rib until there is 1 stitch left before the marker, make 1 yarn over, knit 2 (mid-stitches), 1 yarn over and work rib to the end of the round; yarn overs are worked twisted on the next round. 7) Time: 08:25-09:06. Continue to increase until the finish measurement. Bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl. 8) Time: 09:10-09:38. Fold the neck double to the inside and sew a couple of stitches to keep it in place. 9) Time: 09:39-09:56. Finish the double knitted V-neck. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video.
