How to knit magic loop

In this DROPS video we show how you can knit the magic loop technique. If a pattern requests both double pointed needles and circular needle in the same size, then you can use a circular needle and work with the magic loop technique. This means you can knit a smaller tubular piece using a circular needle instead of double pointed needles. The circular needle should be long (at least 80 cm = 31 1/2") and have a flexible cord. Cast on your number of sts and push the sts to the middle of the cord. Separate and pull out the cord in the middle of the sts. Slide sts to the needle tips each side, make sure sts don't get twisted. Your working yarn is on the back needle and you start working the sts on your front needle. Draw out the back needle to work the front needle. When front needle is done, turn work and slide sts back to the other tip and work that side the same way. Continue in the round, make sure to always pull out the needle at the side where you have the working yarn. You must read the pattern to be able to follow. Bonjour Amélie, vous pouvez vous aider de cette vidéo, la technique sera la même, divisez vos mailles en 2 parties ou bien détricotez tout jusqu'au rang sans erreur et reprenez les mailles sur l'aiguille circulaire en 2 parties. Bon tricot!

In this DROPS video we show how to knit up stitches around the neck to a sweater with a European shoulder, using a knitting needle or a crochet hook. Then follow the description in the pattern. There are many different ways to work a rib (e.g knit 1 / purl 1, knit 2 / purl 2, knit 1 twisted / 1 purl etc.). And you can work a single neck, double neck or a high neck. In this video we work a double neck with a rib worked like this: knit 2, purl 2, bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl and then fold the neck double to the inside and fasten down. In this DROPS video we show how to knit up stitches to one sleeve, working short rows, decrease under the sleeve, increase stitches before the rib, switch to smaller needle and a little bit of the bind off (knit over knit, and purl over purl). Insert 1 marker on the top of armhole (NB: This is not where the stitches were knitted up for the front piece, but a few cm down on the front piece, this is the middle of the shoulder). Start in the middle of the new stitches cast on under sleeve and pick up the number of stitches it says in the pattern around the armhole – adjust so that there are the same number of stitches along armhole on each side of the marker. Now work stockinette stitch back and forth with short rows over sleeve cap, to give the sleeve a better fit. Then work in the round with decreases under the sleeve. Follow the description in the pattern on how to work short rows, how and how many decreases, how long the sleeve should be and the rib. In this DROPS video we show how to work a simple v-neck in rib with 1 knit / 1 purl. The same technique can be used in the rib when knit 2 / purl 2. First, we show how we knit up stitches, then we knit all the stitches from the wrong side, then we work the rib and at the same time on every 2nd row we decrease 2 stitches mid-front as follows: Work until there is 1 stitch left before the knitted stitch mid-front, slip 2 stitches as if to knit together, knit 1, pass the 2 slipped stitches over the knitted stitch (= 2 stitches decreased). This gives you a neat edge and the knitted stitch follows in a straight line. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video. In this DROPS video we show how we work a double knitted V-neck. The neck should be worked in the round, but we only show parts of what happens on the front piece. We are showing: 1) Time: 00.04-01.36. How to put the 2 mid-stiches on a needle and knit, and at the same time knit up stitches from the right side on the neckline. Insert 1 marker between the 2 mid-stitches; these stitches are always knitted. Knit up 2 more stitches on the left side, but the number of stitches must be divisible by 4. 2) Time: 01:37 -03:12. Count back to the beginning of the round so the mid-stitches are knitted when working rib. Work rib (knit 2, purl 2), until there are 2 stitches left before the marker, knit 2 together (even it one stitch should have been a purl stitch), then slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch = 2 knitted stitches mid-front, purl 1 stitch and continue the rib to the end of the round. 3) Time: 03:13 -04:10. Decrease like this on the next round. Above the 6 middle stitches, there will then only be knitted stitches. 4) Time: 04:12 -04:29. Work in the round and decrease on every round until the finish measurement. 5) Time: 04:30-05:52. Work 1 round without decreasing = folding edge. 6) Time: 05:54-08:21. Now increase on each side of the mid-stitches every round as follows: Work rib until there is 1 stitch left before the marker, make 1 yarn over, knit 2 (mid-stitches), 1 yarn over and work rib to the end of the round; yarn overs are worked twisted on the next round. 7) Time: 08:25-09:06. Continue to increase until the finish measurement. Bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl. 8) Time: 09:10-09:38. Fold the neck double to the inside and sew a couple of stitches to keep it in place. 9) Time: 09:39-09:56. Finish the double knitted V-neck. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video.
