------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- ELEVATION (back of neck): Skip this section if you do not want an elevation. Insert 1 marker at the beginning of the round = mid back. Start from the right side and knit 8-8-9-9-10-10 stitches past the marker, turn, tighten the strand and purl 16-16-18-18-20-20 stitches from the wrong side, turn, tighten the strand and knit 24-24-27-27-30-30 stitches, turn, tighten the strand and purl 32-32-36-36-40-40 stitches, turn, tighten the strand and knit 40-40-45-45-50-50 stitches, turn, tighten the strand and purl 48-48-54-54-60-60 stitches, turn, tighten the strand and knit 56-56-63-63-70-70 stitches, turn, tighten the strand and purl 64-64-72-72-80-80 stitches, turn, tighten the strand and knit to mid back. Knit 7-8-9-11-12-14 stitches past the marker. Then work YOKE as described in the text. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. Choose diagram for your size. RAGLAN: Increase 1 stitch on each side of A.1 (= 22 stitches) in each transition between body and sleeves (8 stitches increased on round). Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over. On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in stocking stitch. INCREASE TIP-1 (for sides of body): Work until there are 2 stitches left before the marker thread, 1 yarn over, knit 4 (marker thread sits in the middle of these 4 stitches), 1 yarn over. On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. INCREASE TIP-2 (evenly spaced): To work out how to increase evenly, count the total number of stitches on the needle (e.g. 212 stitches) and divide by the number of increases to be made (e.g. 42) = 5.1. In this example, increase by making 1 yarn over after approx. each 5th stitch. On the next round work the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. DECREASE TIP (for sleeves): Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until there are 2 stitches left before the marker thread, knit 2 together, (marker thread here), slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in the round with circular needle, top down. You can work an elevation in the back of the neck for a better fit, so the yoke is slightly higher at the back. This elevation can be left out; the neck is then the same front and back – see description of elevation above. After the yoke, the body is worked in the round with circular needle. The sleeves are worked in the round with short circular needle/double pointed needles. NECK: Cast on 112-120-124-128-136-136 stitches with circular needle size 3.5 mm and Merino Extra Fine. Knit 1 round. Then work rib in the round (= knit 2 / purl 2) for 4 cm. Knit 1 round where you decrease 4 stitches evenly on round = 108-116-120-124-132-132 stitches. Purl 1 round. Change to circular needle size 4.5 mm. You can now work an ELEVATION in back of neck – read description above or go straight to YOKE. YOKE: Insert 1 marker here - THE PIECE IS NOW MEASURED FROM HERE! Insert 1 marker thread at the beginning of the round and allow it to follow your work onwards. ** Knit 4, then * 1 yarn over, knit 1 *, repeat from *-* a total of 3 times, knit 1, * 1 yarn over, knit 1 *, repeat from *-* a total of 3 times (= these 7 stitches increase to 13 stitches), knit 18-20-20-18-20-16, * 1 yarn over, knit 1 *, repeat from *-* a total of 3 times, knit 1, * 1 yarn over, knit 1 *, repeat from *-* a total of 3 times (= these 7 stitches increase to 13 stitches), knit 18-20-22-26-28-32 **, work from **-** a total of 2 times = 132-140-144-148-156-156 stitches. Knit 1 round; the yarn overs are knitted twisted to avoid holes. The next round is worked as follows: * A.1a (= 22 stitches), 8-10-10-8-10-6 stitches in stocking stitch (= sleeve), A.1a (= 22 stitches), knit 14-16-18-22-24-28 stitches (= front/back piece) *, work from *-* a total of 2 times. READ THE WHOLE OF THE NEXT SECTION BEFORE CONTINUING! Continue this pattern (when A.1a has been worked in height work A.1b a total of 2-3-3-3-3-4 times in height, then work A.1c), at the same time increase on each side of each A.1 for RAGLAN – read description above. Increase every 2nd round a total of 18-21-24-27-29-32 times, then every 4th round a total of 3 times. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! After the last increase for raglan there are 300-332-360-388-412-436 stitches on the needle. Continue with stocking stitch and A.1c without increases until the piece measures 22-24-26-29-30-33 cm from the marker at the beginning of the yoke – adjust so that you have 1 round left in A.1c. The next round is worked as follows (continue that last round of A.1c and stocking stitch over the remaining stitches) Work 17-17-17-17-19-19 stitches (back piece), place the next 60-68-74-78-80-82 stitches on 1 thread for sleeve, cast on 8-8-10-10-12-12 new stitches on the needle (= in side under sleeve), work 90-98-106-116-126-136 stitches (=front piece), place the next 60-68-74-78-80-82 stitches on 1 thread for sleeve, cast on 8-8-10-10-12-12 new stitches on the needle (= in side under sleeve), work the last 73-81-89-99-105-115 stitches (=back piece). Body and sleeves are finished separately. THE PIECE IS NOW MEASURED FROM HERE! BODY: = 196-212-232-252-276-296 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread in the middle of the 8-8-10-10-12-12 stitches cast on under each sleeve. Start the round at one of these marker threads and allow it to follow your work onwards. Continue with stocking stitch and work A.2 (= 42-42-44-44-50-50 stitches) over the 8-8-10-10-12-12 new stitches cast on under the sleeves and 17-17-17-17-19-19 stitches on each side of these (i.e. 21-21-22-22-25-25 stitches on each side of the marker threads in each side). When A.2 has been worked in height, the piece measures approx. 15-15-16-16-18-18 cm from the division. Continue with stocking stitch. When the piece measures 16-16-17-17-19-19 cm increase 1 stitch on each side of the marker threads – read INCREASE TIP-1 (= 4 stitches increased). Increase like this every 4-4-4-4-3-3 cm a total of 4 times = 212-228-248-268-292-312 stitches. When the piece measures 31-31-31-30-31-30 cm from the division, knit 1 round where you increase 40-44-48-52-56-60 stitches evenly on round – read INCREASE TIP-2 = 252-272-296-320-348-372 stitches. Change to circular needle size 3.5 mm and work rib (= knit 2 / purl 2) for 3 cm. Cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl – to avoid the cast-off edge being tight, you can cast off with a needle size 4.5 mm. The jumper measures approx. 60-62-64-66-68-70 cm from the shoulder down. SLEEVE: Place the 60-68-74-78-80-82 stitches from the thread on the one side of the piece on short circular needle/double pointed needles size 4.5 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 8-8-10-10-12-12 stitches cast on under the sleeve = 68-76-84-88-92-94 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread in the middle of the 8-8-10-10-12-12 stitches under the sleeve and start the round here. Work A.3 (= 18-18-20-20-18-18 stitches) mid under the sleeve so that there are 9-9-10-10-9-9 stitches of A.3 on each side of the marker thread. The remaining stitches are knitted. When the whole of A.3 has been worked in height, you have decreased 6-6-8-8-6-6 stitches = 62-70-76-80-86-88 stitches. Then decrease 2 stitches mid under sleeve – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 3-2-1½-1-1-1 cm a total of 9-12-14-15-17-17 times = 44-46-48-50-52-54 stitches. Continue until the sleeve measures 38-37-35-33-32-30 cm from the division (shorter measurements in the larger sizes due to longer yoke). Knit 1 round where you increase 4-6-8-6-8-10 stitches evenly on round = 48-52-56-56-60-64 stitches. Change to double pointed needles size 3.5 mm and work rib (= knit 2 / purl 2) for 5 cm. The sleeve measures approx. 43-42-40-38-37-35 cm from the division. Cast off loosely with knit over knit and purl over purl – to avoid the cast-off edge being tight, you can cast off with a needle size 4.5 mm. Fold the sleeve up approx. 5 cm. Work the other sleeve in the same way. |
