PATTERN:
See diagram A.1. The diagrams show the pattern seen from RS.
COLORS:
Chicken with ice blue/peach edge
Cast on and 1st round: off white / peach
2nd round: strong yellow / dark heather
3rd round: peach / ice blue
4th round: off white/off white
5th round: dark heather / strong yellow
6th round: yellow/off white
7th round: off white/yellow
8th round: ice blue/peach
CROCHET INFO:
Replace first sc at beg of every sc round with 1 ch. Finish every round with 1 sl st in ch from beg of round.
Replace first hdc at beg of every hdc round with 2 ch. Finish round with 1 sl st in first hdc at beg of round.
CROCHET 2 HDC TOG:
Work 2 hdc into 1 hdc as follows: Make 1 YO, insert hook in next st, pull yarn through, make 1 YO, insert hook in same st, pull yarn through, make 1 YO and pull yarn through all 5 sts on hook.
COLOR CHANGE TIP: 1
To get a nice transition between the color changes, work last sl st on round with the new color as follows: Insert hook in 1st/2nd ch from beg of round, get the new yarn, make a YO with the new color and pull it through st on hook.
COLOR CHANGE TIP 2:
Fasten the threads after every color change by letting the thread from previous row be worked in the piece a bit before cutting it off and fastening it (work with the new color around the previous color).

CHICKEN:
Worked in the round. Work according to diagram A.1, i.e. work as follows:
Work 4 ch on hook size 3 mm / C - READ COLORS and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch - READ COLOR CHANGE TIP 1 and 2.
ROUND 1: READ CROCHET INFO! Work 6 sc in ch-ring.
ROUND 2: Work 2 sc in every sc the entire round = 12 sc.
ROUND 3: 2 HDC TOG – see explanation above, in first sc, ch 1, 2 hdc tog in same sc, ch 1, skip 1 sc, * 2 hdc tog in next sc, ch 1, 2 hdc tog in same sc, ch 1, skip 1 sc * repeat from *-* the entire round = 12 hdc groups and 12 ch.
ROUND 4: 3 sc in every ch-space the entire round = 36 sc.
ROUND 5: 1 sc in every sc the entire round. REMEMBER THE CROCHET GAUGE!
ROUND 6: 1 sc in each of the first 2 sc, ch 2, skip 1 sc, * 1 sc in each of the next 2 sc, ch 2, skip 1 sc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 24 sc and 12 ch-spaces.
ROUND 7: 2 sc in first ch-space, ch 2, 2 sc in same ch-space, * 2 sc in next ch-space, ch 2, 2 sc in same ch-space *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 12 sc-spaces with ch-space between.
ROUNDS WITH STRAP AND HEAD:
ROUND 8: Skip 2 sc, 6 sc in first ch-space, * skip 2 sc, 1 sc in space before the next 2 sc, 6 sc in next ch-space *, repeat from *-* 7 more times, skip 2 sc, 1 sc in space before the next 2 sc, 3 sc in next ch-space, 30 ch for strap, fasten with 1 sl st in first of the 30 ch, 3 sc in same ch-space, skip 2 sc, switch to off white with 1 sl st between space before the next 2 sc, then work head as follows: skip 2 sc + 1 ch-space + 2 sc, work 11 tr in space before the next 2 sc, skip 2 sc + 1 ch-space + 2 sc, work 1 sc in space before the next 2 sc. Fasten off.
COMB AND BEAK:
ROW 9: Work comb with dark heather as follows: 1 sl st in last sc with ice blue/peach from 8th round, work 1 picot (= ch 3, 1 hdc in first ch), * skip 1 tr, 1 sc in next tr, 1 picot *, repeat from *-* 1 more times, skip 1 tr, 1 sl st in next tr. Fasten off. Work beak with strong yellow as follows: 1 sl st in next tr, skip 1 tr, in next tr work 3 hdc + 1 ch + 3 hdc, skip 1 tr, 1 sl st in next tr. Fasten off.
ASSEMBLY:
Embroider on the eye with some left-over brown yarn with 3 stitches through the 2 tr between the comb and beak.

Heb nog een zelfde gehaakt en er tegen aan genaaid zodat het niet uitmaakt hoe je het kuiken in de paastak ophangt. En zo ook alle draadjes weggewerkt worden.
