GARTER ST (back and forth on needle):

Place piece flat when measuring.

Dec 1 st as follows: Before marker: Slip 1 st as if to K, K 1, psso 1 K.
After marker: K 2 tog.

PATTERN (back and forth):
Row 1 (= RS): * K 1, 2 YOs *, repeat from *-* until 1 st remains, finish with K 1.
Row 2 (= WS): * K 1, drop YOs off the needle *, repeat from *-* until 1 st remains, finish with K 1.

Repeat pattern upwards.

Work front and back piece separately back and forth on circular needle until after vents in the sides.

LOOSELY cast on 72-78-82 sts on circular needle size 10 mm / US 15 with 2 strands brown. Work 1 ridge in GARTER ST - see explanation above. REMEMBER THE GAUGE! Switch to 1 strand brown and 1 strand light beige (= 2 strands). Work 1 ridge. Then work PATTERN - see explanation above, until piece measures 15 cm / 6'' – READ MEASURING TIP, adjust to finish on 2nd row in pattern. Put piece aside.

Cast on and work as front piece.

Now work in the round on circular needle.
Slip front and back piece on to same circular needle = 144-156-164 sts. Insert 1 marker in each side in the transitions between back piece and front piece and in the middle on back piece and front piece (i.e. 36-39-41 sts in from vent). Work 2 ridges in GARTER ST - see explanation above. Then work piece in stockinette st over all sts AT THE SAME TIME dec on each side of markers (= 8 dec) - READ DECREASE TIP as follows: Dec 1 st every 3 cm / 1'' 10-11-13 times, then 1 st every 2 cm / 3/4'' 2-2-0 times = 48-52-60 sts on needle. Continue in stockinette st until piece measures 70-71-72 cm / 27½"-28"-28½".
Work 2 ridges. Then work PATTERN – see explanation above – until piece measures 80-83-86 cm / 31½"-32 3/4"-34". Switch to 2 strands brown. Work pattern as before. When piece measures 90-93-96 cm / 35½"-36½"-37 3/4", adjust to finish after a whole repetition of pattern, bind off with 2 strands brown.

Christal Krahenbil 15.01.2017 - 21:06:

Are there any corrections for this pattern? The garment is not wide enough to fit over the shoulders after doing the decreases.

DROPS Design 16.01.2017 kl. 10:34:

Dear Mrs Krahenbil, remember to check your gauge, with a tension of 9 sts x 12 rows in stocking st = 10 x 10 cm, you will have the 72-72-82 sts from front & back piece matching the 80-87-91 cm shown in diagram. Happy knitting!

Tiziana Laurenti 25.10.2015 - 22:03:

Buon lavoro!
