DROPS Shawl in Vienna and Highlander

Length at center back: approx. 83 cm [32?5/8"]

Materials: DROPS VIENNA
100 gr nr 19 grey
50 gr nr 49 plum
50 gr nr 51 olive
and use:
DROPS HIGHLANDER
50 gr each: 12 beige, 13 brown, 6 blue, 11 light blue, 04 olive

DROPS 15 mm [US 19] needles, or size needed to obtain correct gauge.

Pattern instructions

NOTE: This pattern is written in American English. All measurements in charts are in cm. For conversion from inches to cm - click here. Gauge: 3.5 sts x 7 rows in pattern with 1 strand of each yarn = 10 x 10 cm.

Pattern with inc:
Row 1 (right side): K 1, 2 yo on needle, *K 1, yo*, repeat *-* to last 2 sts, K 1, 2 yo, K 1.

Row 2 (wrong side): K, letting yo from previous row drop (long st) – at the sides where there are 2 yo, K one yo and let the other one drop (= 1 st incd at each end of row).

Stripe Pattern: Leave approx. 20 cm end of yarn loose at each side – this will become part of the fringe later on. Knit stripes as follows:
10 rows: grey Vienna + beige Highlander
4 rows: grey Vienna + brown Highlander
2 rows: plum Vienna + brown Highlander
4 rows: plum Vienna + blue Highlander
4 rows: plum Vienna + light blue Highlander
6 rows: olive Vienna + light blue Highlander
2 rows: olive Vienna + beige Highlander
2 rows: grey Vienna + beige Highlander
4 rows: grey Vienna + light blue Highlander
4 rows: grey Vienna + blue Highlander
2 rows: plum Vienna + blue Highlander
2 rows: plum Vienna + olive Highlander
4 rows: grey Vienna + olive Highlander
2 rows: grey Vienna + beige Highlander
6 rows: grey Vienna + brown Highlander


Shawl: Loosely cast on 3 sts with 1 strand grey Vienna + 1 strand beige Highlander. K 1 row (wrong side). Then knit Pattern with inc following Stripe Patter – see instructions above.
After the last stripe there are 61 sts. Knit the next row as follows: *K 1, yo*, repeat *-*, finish with K 1 = 121 sts. Bind off all sts.

Fringe: Fasten fringe tufts along both sides in all inc holes as follows:
Cut 3 strands Vienna and 2 strands Highlander 50 cm long in the same colors as in the stripe. Fold strands in half and pull the folded end through the inc hole, then pull the ends and the yarn left hanging from the stripe through the loop.

Bonjour, j'ai besoin d'aide pour l'échantillon de ce modèle: il est dit de faire 3.5 mailles sur 7 ramgs. Que signifie 3 mailles et demi? Je commence à 3 mailles et arrive à 5, avec les jetés et les tombés, ou autre chose? Et aussi, dois je faire un rang par couleur, ou tricoter les 7 rangs avec 8 fils (8 couleurs différentes)...? Je débute et ne sais pas trop comment faire pour cet échantillon! Merci d'avance!

Bonjour Mme Delacourtie, l'échantillon est de 3.5 m x 7 rangs = 10 cm, soit 6 m = 20 cm de large (il faut 3 m et demi pour avoir 10 cm). Vous montez 3 m et tricotez en point fantaisie avec des augm. (= 2 rangs) et augm. ainsi 2 m tous les 2 rangs. Vous tricotez tout du long avec 2 fils: 1 Vienna + 1 Highlander en suivant les rayures. Bon tricot!
