Gauge: 16 sts x 20 rows on larger needles in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm.

Rib: *K 1, P 1*, repeat *-*.

Glove: Cast on 38 sts on smaller double-pointed needles; join and place a marker at the join. Knit rib - see instructions above. When the piece measures 7 cm change to larger double-pointed needles and stockinette st, decreasing 6 sts evenly distributed on the first row = 32 sts. When the piece measures 10 cm inc for thumb at each side of the 2nd st after the marker, inc every other row 4 times = 9 thumb-sts. When the piece measures 14 cm put these 9 sts on a st holder. Then cast on 1 new st behind st holder = 32 sts, join and continue in stockinette st. When the piece measures 18 cm put the first and the last 13 sts on rows on a st holder, and then knit the little finger on the remaining 6 sts.
Little finger: Cast on 3 new sts toward sts on st holder = 9 sts, divide sts onto 3 double-pointed needles; join and knit stockinette st until finger measures approx. 5-6 cm. Then K 2 tog over all sts, cut yarn and pull through the remaining sts.
Hand: Put sts on st holders back on needles and pick up 2 sts at little finger = 28 sts; join and knit 2 rows stockinette st over all sts. Put 14 sts from palm and 14 sts from upper hand on a st holder.
Ring finger: Put 5 sts from each st holder on needles and cast on 2 new sts at middle finger = 12 sts. Divide sts onto 3 double-pointed needles; join and knit stockinette st until finger measures approx. 8 cm. Then K 2 tog over all sts, cut yarn and pull through the remaining sts.
Middle finger: Put 4 sts from each st holder on needles and pick up 3 sts at ring finger and cast on 2 new sts at index finger = 13 sts. Divide sts onto 3 double-pointed needles; join and knit the same as the ring finger, finger measures approx. 9 cm.
Index finger: ut the remaining 10 sts on needles, pick up 3 sts at middle finger = 13 sts. Join and knit the same as ring finger.
Thumb: Put the 9 sts on st holder on needles. Pick up 5 sts behind these sts = 14 sts. Divide sts onto 3 double-pointed needles; join and knit stockinette st for approx. 6 cm. Then K 2 tog over all sts, cut yarn and pull through the remaining sts.
Knit a second glove, reversing shaping – begin inc for thumb at each side of the next to last st before marker.
