------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- INCREASE TIP: This symmetrical method of increasing gives 1 new stitch. Follow points 1-4: 1. Hold the working strand behind the piece. Slip the first stitch on the left needle loosely onto the right needle purl-wise. 2. Insert the left needle behind the slipped stitch and between the slipped stitch and the first stitch on the right needle. 3. Make 1 yarn-over round the right needle and pull it through the stitch giving 1 new stitch on the right needle. 4. Drop front loop of stitch off left needle and then knit 1 in front part of the other loop of stitch. 1 stitch increased. SLEEVE TIP: When knitting up stitches under the sleeve, you can get a small hole in the transition between stitches on the body and sleeve. This hole can be closed by picking up the strand between 2 stitches and working this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased). ROUND CAST-OFF – (stitches picked up from the wrong side. The cast-off gives a round edge on the right side, which does not roll outwards): Cast-off row: Find the stitch 2 rows/rounds below the next stitch. Pick up the top loop of this stitch from the wrong side and place it on the left needle. Knit together this loop and the next stitch on the needle. * Pick up the next stitch in the same way and knit it together with the next stitch. Pass the first stitch over the second stitch *. Repeat from *-* until all stitches have been cast off. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, top down, from the right back shoulder. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for the body and sleeves and the body is continued in the round, while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked top down, in the round. NECK: Cast on 74-76-80-84-88-90-94 stitches with circular needle size 4.5 mm and 3 strands DROPS Kid-Silk. Knit 4 rounds, then work 4 rounds of rib (knit 1, purl 1). Insert 1 marker after the first 25-26-27-28-30-30-32 stitches (approx. mid-front), the yoke is now measured from here. YOKE: Change to circular needle size 5.5 mm. Knit 1 round and increase 7-14-16-21-20-24-29 stitches evenly spaced – read INCREASE TIP = 81-90-96-105-108-114-123 stitches. Work 2-2-2-2-2-2-2 cm stocking stitch. Remember to maintain the knitting tension. Work the next round as follows: * Knit 2, increase 1 stitch – remember INCREASE TIP *, work from *-* 27-30-32-35-36-38-41 times = 108-120-128-140-144-152-164 stitches. Work 3-3-3-3-3-3½-4 cm stocking stitch. Work the next round as follows: * Knit 3, increase 1 stitch *, work from *-* 27-30-32-35-36-38-41 times = 135-150-160-175-180-190-205 stitches. Work 3-3-3-3-3-3-4 cm stocking stitch. Work the next round as follows: * Knit 4, increase 1 stitch *, work from *-* 27-30-32-35-36-38-41 times = 162-180-192-210-216-228-246 stitches. Work 3-3-3-3-3-3-4 cm stocking stitch. Work the next round as follows: * Knit 5, increase 1 stitch *, work from *-* 27-30-32-35-36-38-41 times = 189-210-224-245-252-266-287 stitches. Work 3-3-3-3-3-3-4 cm stocking stitch. Work the next round as follows: * Knit 6, increase 1 stitch *, work from *-* 27-30-32-35-36-38-41 times = 216-240-256-280-288-304-328 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch without further increases, until the yoke measures 19-20-23-23-23-25-26 cm from the marker. Now divide for the body and sleeves. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: Place the first 42-48-52-56-56-58-62 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-8-10-12-12 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), knit 66-72-76-84-88-94-102 (front piece), place the next 42-48-52-56-56-58-62 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-8-10-12-12 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), knit the last 66-72-76-84-88-94-102 stitches (back piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. BODY: = 144-156-168-184-196-212-228 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch until the piece measures 46-48-50-51-53-55-57 cm from the marker mid-front. Work ROUND CAST-OFF – read explanation above. The jumper measures approx. 47-49-51-53-54-56-58 cm from the marker mid-front and 52-54-56-58-60-62-64 cm from the shoulder. SLEEVES: Place the 42-48-52-56-56-58-62 sleeve-stitches from one thread on circular needle size 5.5 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-8-8-10-12-12 stitches cast on under the sleeve – read SLEEVE TIP = 48-54-60-64-66-70-74 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the 6-6-8-8-10-12-12 stitches under the sleeve- the round starts by the marker-thread. Work stocking stitch in the round. AT THE SAME TIME, when the sleeve measures 3 cm from the division, decrease mid-under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP as follows: Decrease 2 stitches every 15-11-5-4½-4-3½-3 cm a total of 3-4-7-8-9-10-11 times = 42-46-46-48-48-50-52 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 47-46-44-45-45-44-43 cm from the division. Work ROUND CAST-OFF. |
