---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge vertically = knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.4. Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side. STOCKING STITCH: When working from wrong side, purl and when working from right side, knit. KNITTING TOGETHER: From right side: Slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked. From wrong side: Purl 2 together. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Work body in the round on circular needle, from the bottom and up to armholes. Divide body for front piece and back piece and finish each part separately back and forth. Work sleeve back and forth on circular needle, bottom up. Sew the piece together as explained in pattern. Then pick up stitches for neck at the end. BODY: Cast on 184-200-216-240-256-280 stitches on circular needle size 4.5 mm with DROPS Alaska. Work rib * purl 1, knit 2, purl 1 *, work from *-* over all stitches. When piece measures 6 cm, switch to circular needle size 5.5 mm and work as follows: Work * A.1 6-6-6-7-7-8 times in total, A.2, A.3 5-6-7-8-9-10 times in total, A.4, A.1 6-6-6-7-7-8 times in total *, work from *-* 2 times in total. Insert 1 marker at the beginning of round to avoid displacing the round. Continue pattern like this. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures 32-33-34-35-36-37 cm, cast off stitches for armholes as follows: Adjust so that next round is a round with cables. Work 91-98-104-115-123-134 stitches as before, cast off the next 2-4-8-10-10-12 stitches, 90-96-100-110-118-128 stitches as before and cast off the next 2-4-8-10-10-12 stitches (i.e. the 1-2-4-5-5-6 last stitches on round and the first 1-2-4-5-5-6 on next round). Finish front and back piece separately. BACK PIECE: = 90-96-100-110-118-128 stitches. Continue pattern as before. When piece measures 20-21-22-23-24-25 cm from division, work diagonal shoulder and cast off for neck on next row from right side as follows: Continue with pattern where pattern fits, work the remaining stitches knit over knit and purl over purl. Work 40-43-44-49-52-57 stitches, cast off the next 10-10-12-12-14-14 stitches for neck and work until 6-6-7-8-8-9 stitches remain on needle. Turn and work back. Now finish each shoulder separately. Continue like this, i.e. work 6-6-7-8-8-9 stitches less at the end of every row from neck 4 times in total and cast off AT THE SAME TIME for neck at the beginning of every row from neck as follows: Cast off 5 stitches 1 time and 2 stitches 2 times. On next row from neck work over all stitches on shoulder and cast on 2 stitches at the end of row = 33-36-37-42-45-50 stitches. Now work and cast off with i-cord edge over shoulder stitches as follows: Work the 2 stitches cast on with shoulder stitches as follows: Work * 1 stitch in STOCKING STITCH – read explanation above, work next stitch together with first/next stitch from shoulder – read KNITTING TOGETHER, pass the 2 stitches back on the needle they came from with strand on wrong side of piece *, work from *-* until all stitches from shoulder have been worked together with the 2 stitches = 2 stitches remain. Cast off. Work the other shoulder the same way. FRONT PIECE: = 90-96-100-110-118-128 stitches. Continue pattern as before. When piece measures 12-13-13-14-14-15 cm from division, cast off the middle 20 stitches for neck (35-38-40-45-49-54 stitches remain on each shoulder) and finish each shoulder separately. Continue back and forth in pattern and cast off 1 stitch for neck on every row from the neck 4-4-5-5-6-6 times in total = 31-34-35-40-43-48 stitches. Continue working until piece measures 20-21-22-23-24-25 cm from the division. Now work diagonal shoulder, begin on next row from the neck as follows: Work until 6-6-7-7-8-9 stitches remain, turn and work back. Continue like this and work 6-6-7-7-8-9 stitches less on every turn on shoulder 4 times in total. On next row from neck work over all stitches and cast on 2 stitches at the end of row = 33-36-37-42-45-50 stitches. Now work and cast off with i-cord edge over shoulder stitches as follows: Work the 2 stitches cast on with shoulder stitches as follows: Work * 1 stitch in stocking stitch, work next stitch together with first/next stitch from shoulder – remember KNITTING TOGETHER, pass the 2 stitches back on the needle they came from with strand on wrong side of piece *, work from *-* until all stitches from shoulder have been worked together with the 2 stitches = 2 stitches remain. Cast off. Work the other shoulder the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew shoulder seams inside 1 stitch. HIGH COLLAR: Pick up from right side approx. 88 to 108 stitches around the neck on a short circular needle size 4.5 mm with DROPS Alaska. Number of stitches must be divisible 4. Work rib (knit 2/purl 2) for 12 cm. Cast off stitches with knit over knit and purl over purl. SLEEVES: Cast on 46-50-50-54-54-58 stitches on circular needle size 4.5 mm with DROPS Alaska. Work rib, begin from wrong side as follows: 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, * knit 2, purl 2 *, work from*-* until 1 stitch remains, 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. When rib measures 6 cm, switch to circular needle size 5.5 mm. Knit 1 row from right side and decrease 4-6-6-8-6-8 stitches evenly = 42-44-44-46-48-50 stitches. Work pattern, begin from wrong side as follows: 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, A.1 until 1 stitch remains, 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Continue pattern like this. When piece measures 12-12-12-12-13-12-14 cm, increase 1 stitch inside 2 stitches in each side of piece. Work the increased stitches in A.1. Increase like this every 3-3-2½-2-2-1½ cm 11-12-13-14-14-15 times in total = 64-68-70-74-76-80 stitches. When piece measures 46-46-45-43-42-39 cm, insert 1 marker in each side - marks where bottom of armhole starts. Continue to work and cast off when piece measures 47-47-47-46-45-43 cm. Work another sleeve the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew sleeve together up to markers. Sew in sleeves. Sew the last cm from markers on sleeve to stitches cast off for armhole on front piece and back piece - see chart. |
