How to work a diagonal shoulder and how to work an i-cord cast off

In this DROPS video we show a technique how to get a diagonal shoulder with short rows. Then we show how to cast off the shoulder seam with an i-cord. Remember to read in the pattern for the correct stitch numbers.
We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video.

DROPS Design :

Dear Heather, this will be done the same way, except that you will cast on the new sts at the end of row from WS then turn and cast off from RS as shown in the video (ie from armhole towards mid front/neck instead of from mid front/neck towards armhole). Happy knitting!

Hei Agnes. 1) Du får en fin rund og dekorativ kant, som ikke strammer. 2) Sy skuldersømmene innenfor den ytterste masken langs i-cord avfellingen (vi håper vi har en video som viser dette online snart). 3) Jo, det er det som er litt av poenget, gi plagget en flott detalje. Ønsker du ikke en i-cord avfelling, se om du kan ha en standard avfellingskant og en sammen sying på det plagget du strikker. mvh DROPS Design

In this DROPS video we show you how to join 2 pieces together (A and B), then cast off with an I-cord. Place all the stitches from A and B on the same needle, so that every second stitch on the needle belongs to A and B. We cast off with I-cord as follows: - Cast on 3 stitches onto the right needle. Slip the 3 stitches from the right needle onto the left needle with the working strand now situated 3 stitches in on the left needle. - ROW 1 (= right side): Knit 2, knit 3 twisted together (i.e., 1 stitch from the front piece and 1 stitch from the back piece is decreased). In this DROPS video we show how we cast off with an i-cord edge in a piece worked in garter stitches / ridge stitches. Cast on 2 stitches, knit up 1 stitch in the outermost loop of the bottom ridge = 3 stitches on the needle. *Push the stitches back to the beginning of the needle and work again from the right side without turning. Knit 2, slip the next stitch as if to knit, knit up a new stitch in the next ridge on the hood, pass the slipped stitch over the knitted-up stitch *, work from *-* until an edge has been worked. Knit up 1 stitch in each ridge, if this makes the edge tight, knit up 1 more stitch evenly (we have knitted 2 extra stitches in this piece). Knit together the last 3 stitches on the row. In this DROPS video we show you how to cast off a work with i-cord loops. When casting off, * work an i-cord of approx. 6 cm (see explanation for i-cord below), knit the stitches from the i-cord along with the next 3 stitches on the swap *, repeat * - * entire row, cast off the 3 last stitches as a usually cast off. We have chosen a 3 stitches i-cord string approx. 6 cm, but this one can you fine change as desired. I-cord cord: * Knit one row on double pointed needles. Slide row to other end of needle. In this DROPS video we show how we work an I-cord edge while we're casting off. Cast on 4 new stiches on right needle from WS, turn piece. Use another knitting needle if you wish. * Knit 3 stitches, the next 2 stitches are knitted twisted together. Put these 4 stitches back to the left needle *. Repeat from *-* the entire round and cast off. Sew together cast on and cast off edge. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video.

In this DROPS video we show how to cast off with i-cord casting off that is for example, used in the shawl in DROPS 190-15. Work and cast off as follows: * Knit 2 stitches, the next 2 stitches are knitted twisted together. Push the 3 stitches from the right needle back onto the left needle (in the same order) *, repeat from *-* until all stitches on the left needle have been cast off and there are 3 stitches left on the right needle. Push the stitches onto the left needle and cast them off with knit. This shawl is crocheted in DROPS Flora, but in the video we work with a thicker yarn; DROPS Snow.
