Can you explain the bind off/decrease for the neck? Bind off for the neck every other row: 2 sts 2 times, dec 1 st 10 times, and then dec 1 st every 4th row 3 (3-4) times.

Dear Chen, you will now continue back and forth starting from neck and cast off at the beginning of every row on each side (from RS = right shoulder, from WS = left shoulder): 2 sts 2 times = 2 sts at the beg of next 4 rows, 1 st 10 times = 1 st at the beg of next 20 rows then on every 4th row = at the beg of every other row from RS/WS: 1 stitch 3 or 4 times (see size). At the same time, remember to continue raglan decreases as before. Happy knitting!

Dear Mrs Mellor, click on our yarn converter and choose yarn to replace (DROPS Silke Tweed) and amount of yarn (ex 150 g), and click on "Find alternatives" to find out a choice of different yarns group A you can use instead of Silke Tweed. Read more about alternatives here. Happy knitting!

Gauge: 23 sts and 30 rows on larger needles in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm . Garter Stitch, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows. Garter Stitch, when knitting in the round: *Rnd 1, knit. Rnd 2, purl *. Repeat from * - *. Pattern: See chart. The pattern is shown from the right side and is knit entirely in stockinette st. Short model: If a short model is desired knit as follows: Decrease the measurements at armhole, neck and binding off by 14 (16-18) cm. Finished dimensions = 56 (58-59) cm. Reduce the yarn amount by approx. 50 g as follows: color no. 14 size S, color no. 16 size L, color no. 21 size L. Body: Knit the sweater in stockinette st on circular needles and turn it inside out afterwards. Cast on 240 (256-276) sts on smaller circular needles with grass green; join and place a marker at the join. Knit 2 rows garter st. Change to larger circular needles and knit Pattern 1 to finished dimensions (begin at the bottom of the chart for all sizes). When the work measures 43 (46-49) cm, bind off 12 sts on each side for armholes = 108 (116-126) sts for front and back. Put the work aside. Sleeves: Cast on 58 (58-60) sts on smaller double pointed needles with grass green; join and place a marker at the join. Knit 2 rows garter st. Change to larger double pointed needles and knit Pattern 1 - begin at the appropriate arrow on the chart. When the work measures 5 cm, inc 1 st on each side of marker 26 (29-28) times: Size S: every 4th row Size M+L: alternately every 3rd and 4th row = 110 (116-116) sts. When the work measures 42 (42-43) cm, bind off 6 sts on each side of marker = 98 (104-104) sts. Put the work aside. (It is important that you are at the same point in the Pattern on the body and the sleeves. If this is not the case, you will need to adjust the length of either the body or the sleeves.) Body: Put the sleeves in on the same circular needles as the body where 12 sts are bound off = 412 (440-460) sts on needles. Put a marker in each transition between the sleeves and body = 4 markers. Continue Pattern 1 but purl 1 stitch on each side of the markers (this makes 2 sts in reverse stockinette st in the transitions from the body to the sleeve). After the neck shaping and the piece is worked flat, keep these two stitches in reverse stockinette st. Raglan shaping: Read the entire next section before knitting! Body: Dec 1 st each side on the inside of the purl sts next to the marker on every other row 37 (38-34) times, then dec 1 st each side on every row 0 (3-11) times. Sleeves: Dec 1 st each side on the inside of the purl sts next to the marker on every other row 30 (32-32) times, then dec 1 st each side every row 14 (15-15) times. Make decreases as follows: Before the 2 purl sts: Right side: Knit 2 together. Wrong side: Lift the next 2 sts off needles, put them back on the left needle twisted (one by one), purl the 2 sts together into back of stitch. After the 2 purled sts: Right side: Sl 1, k 1, psso. Wrong side: Purl 2 together. At the same time as the raglan shaping, shape the neck on the front. When the work measures 54 (58-61) cm, divide the work at the center front and knit the rest back and forth on needles. Bind off for the neck every other row: 2 sts 2 times, dec 1 st 10 times, and then dec 1 st every 4th row 3 (3-4) times. Bind off all sts after the last dec and 54 (54-56) sts remain on the needles; the work measures approx. 68 (72-75) cm to the top of the raglan shaping and up to the shoulder = 70 (74-77) cm. Assembly: Turn the sweater inside out so that the reverse stockinette is the right side. Sew the 12 sts together at the underarm. Pick up approx. 110-125 sts around the neck on smaller double pointed needles with grass green. Join and attach a marker at the center front in the "V". Knit 4 rows garter st with grass green and 2 rows garter st with yellow-green and at the same time dec 1 st on each side of the marker every other row. Bind off all sts. |
