Could you possibly provide a video of how round number 4 in diagram A1 is worked? Could you also please provide a close up photograph of the bottom of the dress. It is hidden behind the words. Thank you.

Hi Yvonne, please watch the video HERE but instead of 1 yarn over you have to make 2 yarns overs in 4 places in diagram (row 4). The holes will be bigger. Happy knitting!

In diagram A1, in rounds 4, 14, 9 and 19 I am to use base colour in pattern. What is meant by the base colour, please? Denim blue cannot be the base colour because it is mentioned separately. Is base colour another colour and should I knit the two colours together? Sorry, I just do not understand. Thank you.

Bon tricot!

GARTER ST (worked in the round): * K 1 round and P 1 round *, repeat from *-*. 1 ridge = 2 rounds. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. Work A.1 and A.3 in denim blue. Work entire A.2 in stocking st. WAIST: Dec for waist front and back at 4 of the 6 markers. Dec as follows after 2nd and 5th marker: Slip 1 st as if to K, K 1, psso. Dec as follows when 2 sts remain before 3rd and 6th marker: K 2 tog. DECREASE TIP: Dec in each side of body, i.e. dec on each side of 1st and 4th marker. Beg when 4 sts remain before marker and K 2 tog, K 4 (marker is between these 4 sts), slip 1 st as if to K, K 1, psso (= 2 sts dec). INCREASE TIP: Inc for waist front and back at 4 of the 6 markers as follows: Make 1 YO after 2nd and 5th marker and before 3rd and 6th marker. On next round K YOs twisted to avoid holes. EYELET ROW: K 1, * 1 YO, K 2 tog *, repeat from *-*. KNITTING TIP: To avoid the knitting tension to tighten when working pattern on yoke, it is important not to tighten the strands on back side of piece. Switch to a higher needle no when working pattern if the pattern is somewhat tight. ---------------------------------------------------------- BODY: Worked in the round on circular needle from bottom up. Cast on 247-260-273-299-325-351 sts on circular needle size 4 mm with denim blue. Work 2 ridges in GARTER ST - see explanation above. Then work wave pattern according to diagram A.1 - see explanation above (= 19-20-21-23-25-27 repetitions on round). When A.1 has been worked, there are 209-220-231-253-275-297 sts on needle. K 1 round while at the same time dec 1-0-3-1-3-1 sts evenly = 208-220-228-252-272-296 sts. Then work in stocking st. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION When piece measures 24-26-28-28-30-30 cm, insert 6 markers in piece as follows: Insert 1st marker at beg of round (= in the side), 2nd marker after 28-31-33-38-43-48 sts, 3rd marker after the next 48-48-48-50-50-52 sts, 4th marker after the next 28-31-33-38-43-48 sts (= in the side), 5th marker after the next 28-31-33-38-43-48 sts, 6th marker after the next 48-48-48-50-50-52 sts (28-31-33-38-43-48 sts on round after last marker). READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING SECTION BEFORE CONTINUING: On next round dec for WAIST at the front and back – see explanation above (= 4 sts dec). Repeat dec every 8th-10th-10th-12th-14th-16th round 7-7-5-5-4-4 times in total. AT THE SAME TIME when dec for the second time (third time in size M) beg dec in the sides. Dec 1 st on each side of 1st and 4th marker (i.e. in the sides) - READ DECREASE TIP (= 4 sts dec). Repeat dec in the sides on every 8th round 6-5-4-4-3-3 times in total (all dec end at the same time) = 156-172-192-216-244-268 sts remain on needle. When piece measures 48-50-50-52-52-54 cm, inc after 2nd and 5th marker and before 3rd and 6th marker – READ INCREASE TIP (= 4 sts inc). Repeat inc every 8th-8th-8th-8th-10th-10th round 3-3-3-3-2-2 times in total = 168-184-204-228-252-276 sts. Continue to work until piece measures 61-63-65-67-69-71 cm. Work next round as follows: Cast off 4-4-5-5-6-6 sts for armhole, work EYELET ROW - see explanation above, over the next 76-84-92-104-114-126 sts (= front piece), cast off 8-8-10-10-12-12 sts for armhole, work EYELET ROW over the next 76-84-92-104-114-126 sts (= back piece) and cast off the last 4-4-5-5-6-6 sts for armhole. Put piece aside and knit the sleeves. SLEEVE: Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 48-48-50-52-54-56 sts on double pointed needles size 3 mm with denim blue. Work 3 ridges in GARTER ST - see explanation above. Switch to double pointed needles size 4 mm and work in stocking st. When piece measures 10-10-10-12-12-10 cm, inc 2 sts mid under sleeve. Repeat inc every 3-2½-2½-2-2-2 cm 11-13-13-14-14-15 times in total = 70-74-76-80-82-86 sts. When piece measures 43-42-42-41-41-40 cm - NOTE: Shorter measurements in the larger sizes because of wider shoulders, cast off the middle 8-8-10-10-12-12 sts under sleeve = 62-66-66-70-70-74 sts remain on needle. Put piece aside and knit another sleeve. YOKE: Slip sleeves on to same circular needle as body where armholes were cast off (without working them first) = 276-300-316-348-368-400 sts on needle. K 1 round with denim blue while dec 16-20-16-8-8-20 sts evenly = 260-280-300-340-360-380 sts. Then work pattern in the round according to diagram A.2 (choose diagram for correct size and beg on round marked with arrow for correct size = 13-14-15-17-18-19 repetitions on round). Dec as shown in diagram. When A.2 has been worked, there are 117-126-135-153-162-171 sts remain on needle. ELEVATION IN BACK OF NECK: For better fit work an elevation at the back of neck. Insert 1 marker mid front and 1 marker mid back (in size M + XXL insert a marker between the 2 middle sts, in the other sizes insert marker in the middle st). Beg mid back and K with denim blue until 10-10-10-12-12-12 sts remain before marker at the front, turn, tighten yarn and P until 10-10-10-12-12-12 sts remain before marker at the front in the other side. Turn, tighten yarn and K with until 20-20-20-24-24-24 sts remain before marker at the front, turn, tighten yarn and P until 20-20-20-24-24-24 sts remain before marker at the front in the other side. Turn, tighten yarn and K with until 30-30-30-36-36-36 sts remain before marker at the front, turn, tighten yarn and P until 30-30-30-36-36-36 sts remain before marker at the front in the other side, turn, tighten yarn and K until mid back. Then K 1 round over all sts with denim blue while dec 21-26-29-43-48-53 sts evenly = 96-100-106-110-114-118 sts. NECK EDGE: Switch to a short circular needle size 3 mm and work pattern in the round according to diagram A.3. Then loosely cast off with K. TIE WITH POMPOMS: Cut 1 strand with denim blue of approx. 3 to 4 meters (yarn should be approx.. 1.5 times longer than desired finished length). Twine it until it resists, fold it double and it will twine again, make a knot at each end. Beg mid front on dress and thread string up and down through eyelet row. Cut the string to desired length. Make 2 pompoms with denim blue with an approx. of diameter 4 cm and fasten a pompom in each end of string (sew knot on tie). ASSEMBLY: Sew the openings under the sleeves. |
