I need guidance. When I review the Charts, patterns and pictures for Drops Design 0-01112, the pattern is showing that the sides are knit in stockingknit stitch (K on right side) for the finished garment. But when I watch the video of the False English rib pattern, it shows the wrong side (purl side) as the front. Which is correct?

Dear Mrs D Cersosimo, the video below shows how to work the false English rib following diagram A.2, ie stocking sts, A.2 starting with P2 from RS, then stocking st. Happy knitting!

Are there no written directions to this pattern? Why are all the patterns now in chart form? It's hard to teach an old dog new tricks and at my age, after knitting with written patterns all these years, I find it difficult to follow a chart. Both written and chart patterns should be furnished with the pattern to make it easier for old geezers like me to follow. Thank you for your attention to this request.

Buon lavoro!

When piece measures 42-44-45-47-48-50 cm, slip the first 7-7-7-7-8-8 sts on a stitch holder for neck and cast off on every row from the neck as follows: 3 sts 2 times, 2 sts 3 times, 1 st 5-5-6-6-6-7 times = 32-34-35-37-39-42 sts remain on shoulder. When piece measures 54-56-58-60-62-64 cm, work 1 ridge. Cast off. LEFT FRONT PIECE: Work as right but reversed. Work A.4 instead of A.3. When casting off sts for armhole, cast off at beg of row from RS. Do not dec for buttonholes. SLEEVE: Worked back and forth on circular needle. Cast on 46-48-50-52-54-56 sts (incl 1 edge st in each side) on circular needle size 3.5 mm with Cotton Merino. Work 2 ridges. Switch to circular needle size 4 mm. When piece measures 38-37-36-35-32-31 cm (shorter measurements in the larger sizes because of longer sleeve cap and wider shoulders) cast off for sleeve cap in each side at beg of every row as follows: Cast off 3-3-3-3-2-2 sts in each side of piece until piece measures 42-42-42-42-41-41 cm, then cast off the remaining sts. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams. Sew in sleeves in body, sew underarm and side seams in one inside 1 edge st in garter st. Sew the buttons on to the left band.
