---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.4. Choose diagram for correct size. Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side. INCREASE TIP-1: INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE LEFT - from right side: Use left needle to pick up yarn between 2 stitches from row below, pick up yarn from the front and knit stitch in back loop of stitch. INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE RIGHT - from right side: Use left needle to pick up yarn between 2 stitches from row below, pick up yarn from the back and knit stitch in front loop of stitch. INCREASE TIP-2: INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE LEFT - from wrong side: Use left needle to pick up yarn between 2 stitches from row below, pick up yarn from the back and purl stitch in front loop of stitch. INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE RIGHT - from wrong side: Use left needle to pick up yarn between 2 stitches from row below, pick up yarn from the front and purl stitch in back loop of stitch. KNITTING TIP: When working short row there will be a small hole when turning the piece - the hole can be closed by tightening the yarn or using the technique German Short Rows as follows: Slip first stitch purlwise. Place strand over right needle and tighten well at the back (should lead to two loops on needle). Work these loops together on next row. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread is between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed. First work piece back and forth on circular needle. Begin by casting on stitches in the back of neck. Then work back piece downwards while AT THE SAME TIME increasing in each side of piece until number of stitches for shoulder width is reached. Back piece has a slight diagonal shoulder. Then work down to armholes. Now put back piece a side and work the front piece. Front piece is first worked in 2 parts. Begin by picking up stitches along one shoulder from back piece, work pattern while increasing towards the neck. Repeat on the other shoulder. Put right and left front piece together when increases for neck are done. Then work front piece down to armholes. Now slip front piece and back piece on to same circular needle and work body downwards in the round on circular needle. Pick up stitches for sleeves around the armholes and work sleeves downwards. First work back and forth with short rows to form a sleeve cap, then work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. Finish by picking up stitches around the neck and work a high collar. If 0 is given for the chosen size, it means that you skip the information until next information. BACK PIECE: Work piece back and forth on circular needle. Cast on 24-24-24-28-28-28-28 stitches on circular needle size 5.5 mm with 1 strand DROPS Melody or 2 strands DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk. ROW 1 (= wrong side): Purl all stitches. ROW 2 (= right side): Read INCREASE TIP-1 and knit 4, increase 1 stitch towards the left, knit until 4 stitches remain, increase 1 stitch towards the right, knit 4. ROW 3 (= wrong side): Read INCREASE TIP-2 and purl 4, increase 1 stitch towards the left, purl until 4 stitches remain, increase 1 stitch towards the right, purl 4. AFTER 3RD ROW: Work 2nd and 3rd ROW 10-11-13-14-16-18-20 times (= 20-22-26-28-32-36-40 rows have been worked), after increase there are = 64-68-76-84-92-100-108 stitches on needle. Work 2 rows in stocking stitch back and forth without increase. Insert 1 marker at the edge in each side. Now measure piece from here! Continue in stocking stitch - remember to follow the knitting tension - until piece measures 7-8-9-11-12-12-13 cm measured from the marker at the edge along the armhole. Now increase in each side for armholes. INCREASE FOR ARMHOLES: ROW 1 (= right side): Remember INCREASE TIP-1 and knit 4, increase 1 stitch towards the left, knit until 4 stitches remain, increase 1 stitch towards the right, knit 4. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Purl all stitches. Work 1st and 2nd ROW 6-6-6-4-4-4-4 times in total = 76-80-88-92-100-108-116 stitches on needle. Work until piece measures 13-14-15-15-16-16-17 cm, measured from marker along armhole, finish with a row from wrong side. Cut the yarn, slip stitches on a thread or stitch holder, now work left front piece along the left shoulder as explained below. LEFT FRONT PIECE: Find left shoulder on back piece as follows: Place back piece flat with right side up, place back piece so that stitches on thread/stitch holder is towards you, left side of piece = left shoulder. Now pick up stitches along left diagonal shoulder on back piece - begin from right side at the neck and pick up stitches out towards the armhole as follows: Pick up 1 stitch in every worked row inside outermost stitch, pick in addition up 2 stitches down along the back piece = 22-24-28-30-34-38-42 stitches. All length measurements on front piece are done from pick-up edge. Work as follows: ROW 1 (= wrong side): Purl 10-12-16-17-21-25-29, knit 4, purl 8-8-8-9-9-9-9 and increase at the same time 4-4-4-7-7-7-7 stitches evenly over these 8-8-8-9-9-9-9 stitches = 26-28-32-37-41-45-49 stitches. ROW 2 (= right side): Knit 12-12-12-16-16-16-16, purl 4, knit 10-12-16-17-21-25-29. ROW 3 (= wrong side): Purl 10-12-16-17-21-25-29, knit 4, purl 12-12-12-16-16-16-16. Work 2nd and 3rd ROW until piece measures 4-4-5-5-3-4-5 cm from pick up edge, now work PATTERN - read explanation above and work as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Work A.1, purl 4, knit 10-12-16-17-21-25-29. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Purl 10-12-16-17-21-25-29, knit 4, A.1. Continue pattern back and forth like this. Repeat A.1 vertically. When piece measures 6-6-7-7-8-9-10 cm from pick up edge, increase stitches towards the neck as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Purl 1 and knit 1 in first stitch on row (= 1 stitch increase), continue A.1 (first stitch in A.1 is knit stitch worked in outermost stitch), work the rest of row as before. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work as before - knit the increased stitch from wrong side and purl from right side. ROW 3 (= right side): Purl 1 in front and back loop of first stitch on row (= 1 stitch increased), purl until A.1, work A.1, purl 4, knit 10-12-16-17-21-25-29. ROW 4 (= wrong side): Purl 10-12-16-17-21-25-29, knit 4, A.1, knit the rest of row. Work 3rd and 4th ROW 3 more times (= 6 rows worked) = 31-33-37-42-46-50-54 stitches (work next row from right side). Cut the yarn, slip stitches on a thread or stitch holder, now work right front piece along the shoulder – read explanation below. RIGHT FRONT PIECE: Now pick up stitches along left diagonal shoulder on back piece - begin from right side at the shoulder and pick up stitches out towards the neck as follows: Begin 2 stitches down on back piece, pick up 2 stitches along back piece, then pick up 1 stitch in every row worked inside outermost stitch = 22-24-28-30-34-38-42 stitches. All length measurements on front piece are done from pick-up edge. Work as follows: ROW 1 (= wrong side): Purl 8-8-8-9-9-9-9 and increase at the same time 4-4-4-7-7-7-7 stitches evenly over these stitches, knit 4 and purl 10-12-16-17-21-25-29. ROW 2 (= right side): Knit 10-12-16-17-21-25-29, purl 4, knit 12-12-12-16-16-16-16. ROW 3 (= wrong side): Purl 12-12-12-16-16-16-16, knit 4, purl 10-12-16-17-21-25-29. Work 2nd and 3rd ROW until piece measures 4-4-5-5-3-4-5 cm, now work PATTERN as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Knit 10-12-16-17-21-25-29, purl 4, A.1. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work A.1, knit 4, purl 10-12-16-17-21-25-29. Continue pattern back and forth like this. Repeat A.1 vertically. When piece measures 6-6-7-7-8-9-10 cm, increase stitches towards the neck as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Knit 10-12-16-17-21-25-29, purl 4, work A.1 until 1 remains, knit 1 and purl 1 in last stitch on row (= 1 stitch increased). ROW 2 (= wrong side): Knit 1, work A.1, knit 4, purl 10-12-16-17-21-25-29. ROW 3 (= right side): Knit 10-12-16-17-21-25-29, purl 4, A.1, purl until 1 stitch remains, purl 1 in front and back loop of last stitch on row (= 1 stitch increased). ROW 4 (= wrong side): Knit until A.1, work A.1, knit 4, purl 10-12-16-17-21-25-29. Work 3rd and 4th ROW 3 more times (= 6 rows worked) = 31-33-37-42-46-50-54 stitches (work next row from right side). Then place the front pieces together as explained below. FRONT PIECE (right and left part together): Work first row as follows from right side: Work the 31-33-37-42-46-50-54 stitches from right front piece as before, cast on 14-14-14-18-18-18-18 stitches for neck at the end of this row, work the 31-33-37-42-46-50-54 stitches from left front piece as before = 76-80-88-102-110-118-126 stitches on needle. Work next row as follows from wrong side: Purl 10-12-16-17-21-25-29, knit 4, A.1, knit 6, A.1 (begin on same row in diagram as already established pattern to always cable on the same row from right side), knit 6, A.1, knit 4, purl 10-12-16-17-21-25-29. Work next row as follows from right side: Knit 10-12-16-17-21-25-29, purl 4, A.1, purl 6, A.1, purl 6, A.1, purl 4, knit 10-12-16-17-21-25-29. Continue pattern back and forth like this. When piece measures 19-20-21-25-26-28-29 cm from pick up edge, increase in each side for armholes. INCREASE FOR ARMHOLES: ROW 1 (= right side): Remember INCREASE TIP-1 and knit 4, increase 1 stitch towards the left, work as before until 4 stitches remain, increase 1 stitch towards the right, knit 4. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work in stocking stitch and pattern as before - purl the increased stitches from wrong side/knit them from right side. Work 1st and 2nd ROW 6-6-6-4-4-4-4 times in total (= 12-12-12-8-8-8-8 rows have been worked) = 88-92-100-110-118-126-134 stitches on needle. Work until piece measures 25-26-27-29-30-32-33 cm, finish with a row from wrong side. Now put front piece and back piece together for body as explained below. Now measure the piece from here. BODY: Work the 88-92-100-110-118-126-134 stitches from front piece in stocking stitch and pattern as before, cast on 2-2-2-4-4-4-4 new stitches at the end of this row (= in the side mid under sleeve), work the 76-80-88-92-100-108-116 stitches from back piece in stocking stitch and cast on 2-2-2-4-4-4-4 new stitches on row (= in the side mid under sleeve) = 168-176-192-210-226-242-258 stitches on needle. Now work in the round on needle, i.e. work pattern as before over the middle 56-56-56-68-68-68-68 stitches on front piece and in stocking stitch over the remaining stitches. Work until piece measures approx. 28-29-30-29-30-30-31 cm from armhole – adjust so that a few rounds have been worked after a round with cables. Now work rib and increase stitches evenly, this is done as follows: Switch to circular needle size 4 mm, work in stocking stitch until the 4 purl stitches at the beginning of pattern, work A.2, A.3, A.4 over the 56-56-56-68-68-68-68 stitches in pattern (= 6 stitches increased), work rib (= knit 2/purl 2) over the 112-120-136-142-158-174-190 stitches in stocking stitch and increase at the same time 14-18-18-16-16-24-24 stitches evenly over stitches in stocking stitch = 188-200-216-232-248-272-288 stitches. Continue like this with knit over knit and purl over purl (repeat the last 3 rounds in A.2-A.4 vertically over the middle 62-62-62-74-74-74-74 stitches on front piece). When rib measures 6-6-6-7-7-7-7 cm, cast off all stitches somewhat loosely with knit over knit and purl over purl. Jumper measures approx. 56-58-60-62-64-66-68 cm, measured furthest in towards neck. SLEEVES: Sleeve is worked from the armhole and down. Place piece flat and insert 1 marker at the top of armhole = mid on top shoulder (NOTE! Mid on top shoulder is not the same place as stitches were picked up for front piece but approx. 6-8 cm down on front piece). Pick up stitches around the armhole, use circular needle size 4 mm, begin in the middle of the new stitches cast on under sleeve - pick up 54-58-60-68-70-74-78 stitches– adjust to pick up same number of stitches on each side of marker. Switch to circular needle size 5.5 mm. Now work in stocking stitch back and forth with short rows over sleeve cap to get a better shape on sleeve, begin round mid under sleeve as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Work 8-8-10-10-10-10-12 stitches past marker on top of shoulder, turn piece – read KNITTING TIP. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work 8-8-10-10-10-10-12 stitches past marker, turn piece. ROW 3 (= right side): Work 3-3-3-4-4-4-4 stitches past where the previous turn was, turn piece. ROW 4 (= wrong side): Work 3-3-3-4-4-4-4 stitches past where the previous turn was, turn piece. Repeat ROWS 3 and 4. Work until 12 turns have been done in total (= 6 times in each side and last row is worked from wrong side). AFTER LAST TURN: The last time 4th row is worked finish row by turning piece, then work from right side until beginning of round (mid under sleeve). Insert 1 marker thread mid under sleeve, this is used when decreasing stitches under sleeve. Move marker thread upwards when working. Now work in the round in stocking stitch over all stitches while AT THE SAME TIME decreasing under sleeve, read DECREASE TIP and decrease like this: When sleeve measures 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 cm measured mid under sleeve decrease 2 stitches 0-0-0-2-2-2-2 times on every other round, then decrease 2 stitches every 2-2-2-2-2-2-2 cm 4-5-4-5-4-5-5 times in total = 46-48-52-54-58-60-64 stitches on needle. Work until sleeve measures 49-48-47-44-42-41-39 cm from mid on top shoulder. Switch to double pointed needles size 4 mm and work rib (= knit 2/purl 2) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 10-8-12-10-14-12-12 stitches evenly on 1st round = 56-56-64-64-72-72-76 stitches. When rib measures 4-4-4-5-5-5-5 cm knit 3 rounds in stocking stitch (= rolling edge). Switch to circular needle size 5.5 mm and cast off by knitting somewhat loosely. Sleeve measures approx. 54-53-52-50-48-47-45 cm from mid on top of shoulder. NECK EDGE: Use circular needle size 4 mm. Begin from right side at one shoulder line and pick up approx. 74-74-76-82-84-86-88 stitches inside 1 stitch, knit 1 round while adjusting number of stitches evenly to 96-96-100-108-108-112-116 - number of stitches must be divisible by 4. Work rib in the round (= knit 2/purl 2). When rib measures 12-12-14-14-16-16-16 cm, cast off all stitches somewhat loosely with knit over knit and purl over purl. |
