------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- CHAIN STITCH: If you work outermost on the hook the chain stitch will often be too tight; 1 chain stitch should be as long as 1 treble/double crochet is wide. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.6. The diagrams are read from right to left when working from the right side and left to right when working from the wrong side. DECREASE TIP (for neckline): Decrease on a row of treble crochets, i.e., row 1, 4, 5 or 6 in the diagrams (do not decrease on row 2 or 3 –these rows are worked as before without decreasing and then continue decreasing on the next row if necessary). If you decrease on row 4, decrease by working 1 treble crochet around the chain stitch, instead of 2. If you decrease on row 1, 5 or 6, decrease by working 2 treble crochets together as follows: END OF ROW: Work as before until there are 2 stitches left at the end of the row, * make 1 yarn over, insert hook through the next treble crochet, pick up strand, make 1 yarn over and pull it through the first 2 loops on the hook *, work from *-* one more time, make 1 yarn over and pull it through all 3 loops on the hook (1 treble crochet decreased). BEGINNING OF ROW: Work 3 chain stitches at beginning of row, make 1 yarn over, insert hook through the next treble crochet, pick up strand, make 1 yarn over and pull it through the first 2 loops on the hook, make 1 yarn over and pull it through the 2 loops on the hook (1 treble crochet decreased). INCREASE TIP (for sleeves): Increase 1 stitch by working 2 stitches in the same stitch as follows: AFTER MARKER: Work the first stitch as before, increase 1 stitch in the next stitch, work to end of round as before. BEFORE MARKER: Work as before until there are 2 stitches left on the round, increase 1 stitch in the next stitch, work the last stitch as before. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked bottom up. The body is worked in the round, turning after each round and working alternately from the right and wrong side as far as the armholes. The piece is then divided for the front and back, which are finished separately. You work back and forth all the time so the textured pattern is maintained throughout. The sleeves are worked in the round, turning after each round in the same way as on the body, then the sleeve cap is worked back and forth to finish. The piece is assembled and the neck is worked in the round to finish. BODY: Work 140-148-156-168-184-204-220 CHAIN STITCHES – read explanation above, with crochet hook size 4 mm and DROPS Air. Join the chain stitches into a ring with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch. Work PATTERN – read explanation above, as follows: ROUND 1 (wrong side): Work A.3 in the first stitch (3 chain stitches = the first treble crochet), work A.2 until there is 1 chain stitch left, A.1 in the last chain stitch and 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the round = 139-147-155-167-183-203-219 treble crochets + 3 chain stitches. Turn. ROUND 2 (right side): Work A.1 in the first stitch (3 chain stitches), work A.2 until there is 1 stitch left, A.3 in the last stitch and 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the round. Turn. Continue A.1 to A.3, alternately from the right and wrong side – NOTE: Repeat rows 2 to 5 the diagrams until the piece measures 4-4-4-5-5-5-5 cm – finishing after a row/round of double crochets. Change to crochet hook size 5 mm and work the last round in A.1 to A.3. Remember to maintain the crochet tension. Continue the pattern as follows, with the first round from the wrong side: Work A.6 in the first stitch (3 chain stitches), work A.5 until there is 1 chain stitch left, then A.4 in the last chain stitch and 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the round. Turn. Continue A.4 to A.6, alternately from the right and wrong side – NOTE: Repeat rows 1 to 6 in the diagrams until the piece measures 35-37-37-39-40-40-42 cm. Now cast off for the armholes from the right side as follows: Work 1 slip stitch in each of the first 4-4-4-6-6-8-8 stitches, continue the pattern across the next 62-66-70-72-80-86-94 stitches, i.e., work A.4 in the first stitch, A.5 across the next 60-64-68-70-78-84-92 stitches and A.6 in the last stitch. BACK PIECE: Continue the established pattern back and forth across these 62-66-70-72-80-86-94 stitches until the piece measures 50-52-54-56-58-60-62 cm (there is 4 cm left to finished length). Now decrease for the neckline as follows: Start from one side and work as before across the first 19-21-23-23-27-29-33 stitches, decrease 1 treble crochet across the next 2 stitches – read DECREASE TIP = 20-22-24-24-28-30-34 stitches. Turn and work back. NOTE: The stitch which does not fit into the pattern after decreasing by the neckline, is worked in treble/double crochet depending on which row you are working in the diagram. Continue back and forth across these 20-22-24-24-28-30-34 stitches until the piece measures 54-56-58-60-62-64-66 cm. Cut and fasten the strand. Continue from the same side (right or wrong) as you began the decreases for the neckline on the first shoulder, skip the first 20-20-20-22-22-24-24 stitches (= neckline mid-back), work 1 slip stitch in the next stitch, decrease 1 treble crochet across the next 2 stitches – remember DECREASE TIP, then continue the pattern to the end of the row = 20-22-24-24-28-30-34 stitches, turn, continue back and forth until the piece measures 54-56-58-60-62-64-66 cm. Cut and fasten the strand. FRONT PIECE: Start from the right side, count 8-8-8-12-12-16-16 stitches from the back piece (= armhole), work 1 slip stitch in the next stitch, work A.4 in the first stitch, A.5 across the next 60-64-68-70-78-84-92 stitches and A.6 in the last stitch. NOTE: There are 4-4-4-6-6-8-8 stitches left on the row for the second armhole. Continue the established pattern back and forth across the 62-66-70-72-80-86-94 stitches until the piece measures 46-48-50-51-52-53-54 cm (there is 8-8-8-9-10-11-12 cm left to finished length). Now decrease for the neckline as follows: Start from the side and work as before across the first 22-24-26-26-30-34-38 stitches, decrease 1 treble crochet across the next 2 stitches, turn, decrease 1 treble crochet across the first 2 stitches and work as before to end of row (= 2 stitches decreased). Now work as follows: ROW 1: Work as before until there are 2 stitches left before the neckline, decrease 1 treble crochet across the next 2 stitches, turn. ROW 2: Decrease 1 treble crochet across the first 2 stitches, work as before to end of row. Work ROWS 1 and 2 a total of 1-1-1-1-1-2-2 times (= 4-4-4-4-4-6-6 stitches decreased for the neckline including the first decreases = 20-22-24-24-28-30-34 shoulder-stitches). Continue working until the piece measures 54-56-58-60-62-64-66 cm. Cut and fasten the strand. Continue from the same side (right or wrong) as you began the decreases for the neckline on the first shoulder, skip the first 14-14-14-16-16-14-14 stitches (= neckline mid-front), work 1 slip stitch in the next stitch, decrease 1 treble crochet across the first 2 stitches, then work as before to end of row, turn, work back until there are 2 stitches left before the neckline, decrease 1 treble crochet across the last 2 stitches. Now decrease as follows: ROW 1: Decrease 1 treble crochet across the first 2 stitches, then work as before to end of row, turn. ROW 2: Work as before until there are 2 stitches left before the neckline, decrease 1 treble crochet across the last 2 stitches, turn. Work ROWS 1 and 2 a total of 1-1-1-1-1-2-2 times (= 4-4-4-4-4-6-6 stitches decreased for the neckline, including the first decreases) = 20-22-24-24-28-30-34 shoulder-stitches. Continue working until the piece measures 54-56-58-60-62-64-66 cm. Cut and fasten the strand. SLEEVES: Work 46-48-52-54-56-58-60 chain stitches with crochet hook size 4 mm and DROPS Air. Join the chain stitches into a ring with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch. Work pattern as follows: ROUND 1 (wrong side): Work A.3 in the first stitch (3 chain stitches = first treble crochet), work A.2 until there is 1 chain stitch left, A.1 in the last chain stitch and 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the round = 45-47-51-53-55-57-59 treble crochets + 3 chain stitches. Turn. ROUND 2 (right side): Work A.1 in the first stitch (3 chain stitches), work A.2 until there is 1 stitch left, A.3 in the last stitch and 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the round. Turn. Continue A.1 to A.3, alternately from the right and wrong side – NOTE: Repeat rows 2 to 5 the diagrams, until the sleeve measures 4-4-4-5-5-5-5 cm, finishing after a row/round of double crochets. Change to crochet hook size 5 mm and work the last round in A.1 to A.3. Continue the pattern as follows, with the first round from the wrong side: Work A.6 in the first stitch (3 chain stitches), work A.5 until there is 1 chain stitch left, A.4 in the last chain stitch and 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the round. Turn. Continue A.4 to A.6, alternately from the right and wrong side – NOTE: Repeat rows 1 to 6 the diagrams, until the piece measures 12-12-11-11-12-12-11 cm. Now increase 1 stitch at the beginning of the round, mid-under the sleeve – read INCREASE TIP. When the sleeve measures 19-19-18-18-18-16-15 cm, increase 1 stitch at the end of the round. Increase alternately at the beginning and end of the round every 7-7-7-7-6-4-4 cm a total of 6-6-6-6-6-8-8 times (increasing 3-3-3-3-3-4-4 times at the beginning and 3-3-3-3-3-4-4 times at the end of the round) = 52-54-58-60-62-66-68 stitches – NOTE: The stitches which do not fit into the pattern after increasing are worked in treble/double crochet depending on which row you are working in the diagram. Work until the sleeve measures 49-49-48-48-46-43-41 cm. Now continue back and forth without finishing the round with 1 slip stitch, i.e., working a split mid-under the sleeve. Work until the sleeve measures 52-52-51-52-50-49-47 cm (split measures approx. 3-3-3-4-4-6-6 cm) – check the split-length with the width of the armhole; the measurements should be the same so the sleeve fits into the armhole – see b and B in the illustration. Cut and fasten the strand. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams. Sew the sleeves into the armholes as shown in the illustration. NECK: Start on one shoulder and work with crochet hook size 5 mm as follows: Fasten the strand with 1 double crochet in the shoulder seam by the neckline, * work 2 chain stitches, skip 1 cm, work 1 double crochet in the next stitch *, work from *-* 26 to 34 times around the neckline, work 1 slip stitch in the first double crochet at the beginning of the round. Work 1 slip stitch around the first chain-space, 3 chain stitches (= first treble crochet), then alternately 2 and 3 treble crochets around each chain-space, finish with 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the round = 65 to 85 treble crochets + 3 chain stitches. Work 2-2-2-2-3-3-3 rounds of treble crochets (1 treble crochet in each treble crochet). Cut and fasten the strand. The neck measures approx. 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm. |
